My mother dear recommended (or maybe just mentioned, brain is broken, can't remember) this place, which I'd never heard of prior to her telling it to me. It's your usual sandwich shop...think maybe along the lines of Jimmy John's, just with better bread. They had some spicy thing or other, so I got that and it was fine...nothing blowaway and I can't say that I'd put it above Jersey Mike's, which I consider probably my current pick for best sandwich chain...even though the location by Crossroads is dreadfully slow...they did throw the bread that they hollowed out of the bun to stuff in the meat into the wrapper, so I guess that's kind of unique...just not quite getting what the mystique here is supposed to be. read more

Over all looks presentable but the manager is a complete ass hole. His name is Chris and I seen him yell at his employees and give them a hard time over little things. We have one of these not far from home that I've never been to but it takes a road trip sometimes to try something different every once in a while. E&G has the sandwiches interestingly named. They also have soups as another option at E&G. I got the Narmer...they had me at avocado in the description: Turkey Breast, Provolone Cheese, Tomato, Lettuce, Hellman's Mayo and Avocado - of course, I'm finicky about tomatoes so I got this sans tomato. Their ingredients are fresh and if you're all about bread, like I am, one bonus is that they give you the bread from the center of your sandwich (from when they hollow it out to make room for all the meat and sandwich fixings). Why not 5 stars? Well to me they're a little on the pricier side of sandwiches. read more

Was looking for the Jimmy John's off the exit and somehow wound up in the parking in front of Erbert & Gerberts so we took a shot. Hadn't been to one in years so I didn't have an level of expectation. Like most Erbert & Gerberts its located in a strip mall about two blocks off Hwy 52. Was about 1:30 in the afternoon so probably the tail end of the lunch rush so it was still pretty busy. The food still came out reasonably quick. Ordered the Tappy which is a capicola/salami combination with usual lettuce, tomato, oil and vinegar, plus some added spices which was pretty good (I'm a sucker for anything Italian-esque). Not spectacular but good. Had the Spicy Jalapeno chips also. Not as spicy as I would have liked but decent. Overall, I'll still stick to Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's as my go to places for sandwiches but Erbert & Gerbert's is good too. Just not quite as good in my opinion however it is a quality product that will do quite well. I usually hit sandwich shops on roadtrips because its quick and easy so I'm pretty easy to please in this area. Sandwich Heads might disagree. read more

I actually walked into Jimmy John's that's in the next shopping complex & asked if they had alfalfa sprouts & they said that they did not. (What? JJ in Las Vegas has them back why doesn't all JJ's?) So I proceeded to turn around to walk out & they told me that Erbert & Gerberts doesn't either & proudly told them that they do & walked out the door. Your loss JJ's. So I then asked my sister where the Erbert & Gerberts was & thankfully it was just in the next shopping complex. I absolutely love Erbert & Gerberts. I used to go to the one in my college town @ least once a week. Love that they still have alfalfa sprouts for the Boney Billy. Bought a couple loaves of their day old bread @ $0.45 a piece & made sandwiches for the next couple of days. I will gladly go to Erbert & Gerberts any day over Jimmy John's. read more

Planned to go to JJ but saw this place and never had been. Must say that the customer service is incredible and pleasant. Sometimes being freaky fast you lose the pleasant attitude and customer service. This place had both and the food was very good also. just some good solid fresh sandwiches--the flash is my favorite and full of italian flavor. The narmer is another popular choice for turkey lovers. I like that the bread is always fresh and they scoop out "the guts" and send those along. They also have nice shredded lettuce which is nice. They will deliver for a few cents more per sandwich which helps when you are having a yucky day and just don't feel like getting out and driving for lunch. The only reason I gave them 3 stars instead of one is because they apologized for their mistakes and one guy was super nice and gave us a free sub coupon. We came in to order and this super rude girl took our order, I couldn't understand her because she was talking weird and I said "what?" And she rolled her eyes and talked super slow to try and make me sound dumb. I didn't get her name, but she has a neck tattoo and is Mexican and wore a tight high up bun. She was so beyond rude. I ordered my sandwich with no tomato, and she put tomatoes on it. She also took my order for chicken noodle soup and they didn't even have it.... she clearly doesn't care about her job and has no respect for anyone. I'm thankful that the other guy was so nice, but if you don't like your job then go to school and get a different job. read more

I order a lunch box, that was delivered to my place of work. The sandwich was fine, but the soup looked like it had been sitting for days. I called the store back, and the woman I spoke with was very rude. "What do you want me to do" is the response I got. I asked that a manager call me back. The manager did call back, and was very courteous and offered me a free sub and soup to replace what had happened. This evening, I went to the store to claim my free sub and soup. The three male workers that were there treated me like a thief. I supplied my name and number, but the claimed not to have found it. One of them kept asking me what do I want....like I was trying to hussle them. They then through in that they had no food left......It was 15 minutes to close, I understand that, but that gives you no reason to treat a customer like they are dirt. I will never eat here again, and will be calling for a full refund in the morning. read more

I was always a fan of erbs and gerbs.. Until the awful experience today. Asked for 2 sandwiches, one with wheat and one with white. They were both made with obviously at least day old white bread which was hard, and the person that made the sandwiches didnt even tape one of them shut. Also I got a comet morehouse with no tomato (which had tomato on it) and it was so poorly made, there was mayo everywhere! I dont know if the person who made our sandwiches (11/18/15) around 1pm was brand new or what, but they need more training. Wont be back for a while. read more

I'm not from Rochester, and I really feel sorry for the people that live here. I'm staying at the hotel nearby and hadn't eaten lunch because I'm a very productive hardworking citizen and deserve a gratifying lunch. This was far from gratifying. Stuck in between a poor excuse for Chinese garbage food five guys horrific tasteless burgers, my options were very limited at this point. I mean, I'm better off just eating the grass off the side the road; it seem more enticing than the sandwich I just ate. I'm only giving 2 stars because the place is clean and the staff is friendly, other than that, the subs are a joke. A 5 year old could have compiled a sub greater than my cold a** sub! I was under the impression my sandwich was at least going to be warm, crunchy and toasty but it was dead a** cold very much like the temperature outside. I should have gone to subway, at least their subs are hot and cheaper. $11 for a sub and chips, I would rather buy deli meat and make my own sub. Instead of naming the sub based on stories, put effort into actually making a good sub....it's more like history subs. read more

I called for delivery and the girl on the phone didn't know how to place my order and then her co-worker proceeded to argue with her instead of helping. Love Erberts and Gerberts sandwiches, but the delivery option here is just a joke! My first time ordering delivery - An hour and a half!! Tonight I decided to try again to give it ONE more chance.. And I get told they have only one delivery person on who will be out 90 minutes and already has 4 deliveries waiting for him at the shop!! That is just mind blowing to me. I'm obsessed with Erbert and Gerbert subs. Sooo delicious! There have been 2 or 3 instances where they have made mistakes with my order. (Small percentage out of the gazillion times I've ordered there) When I address the mistakes they always remedy it. They are excellent at customer service! And again I say Yummmm. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience. I ordered two sandwiches. First the kid working only brought me one. I had to remind him I paid for two. So he finally brought my second sandwich. While I was waiting another couple there complained about their soup being cold that they just ordered. When I got home I opened my tappy sandwich and it was completely messed up. There was mayo all over, which is not even an ingredient if that sandwich, and I did not ask for it. I couldn't eat my sandwich because I am allergic to mayo. There were no onions which are a listed ingredient. So I called the store to complain and they offered me nothing but weak I'm sorry. Not going there again. And definitely don't recommend. read more

This place is one of the worst places I have been to in a long time. I had the Narmer sandwich with bacon, my Girlfriend had the Neptune, and her mom had the Tullius. My girlfriend wanted to try the beer cheese soup. It was very bland and tasted like nacho cheese sauce from a can that had a splash of beer. The sandwich I ordered was supposed to have avocado but they barely smeared any on the sandwich, that I had thought there wasn't any on it. I could not taste the avocado that was mixed With the sloppy mess of mayo. My Girlfriend was going to get the Geeter as it was listed on their to go menu, but it was not available in the store. I wanted their Erbert and Gerbert chips but those weren't available either. When we were waiting for our sandwich it sounded like someone was clipping their nails in the back. Usually I'm all for Erbs&Gerbs and they have always been my go to sub place... But I have recently been diagnosed with a condition and do to that I am not allowed to consume 'gluten'. My friend recommended me to come here for their gluten free sub and boy was I EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. First off Gluten free bread is already dryer then normal bread and when it was "gutted" it left the top of the bun ripped to shreds and you couldn't even hold it without the top bun falling apart also the butt of the bun was rock hard.. I understand that this is a sub shop.... but don't advertise that you have a gluten free option and then totally screw over the costumer. 2nd off you literally only put ONE piece of meat on the sandwich. Really?! One thin sliced piece of turkey?? Absolutely horrible. Worst $14 I have ever spent on a meal. Not to mention I ordered a sandwich with NO tomatoes and guess what was put on the sandwich. Tomatoes. Way to drop the ball. LUCKILY I'm not allergic. read more
