We received a urinary tract infection diagnosis and were issued meds. When I took him into our vet, Caring Hands South Arlington, Dr Sampliner checked him out. Before we left, Dr. Sampliner asked if she could take a sonogram - for free. I said okay, and then she came back said she may have seen "something" and my cat COULD die - amid quoting high prices for further (unnecessary) treatment. She did something similar with my dog's teeth cleaning - stoked fear and quoted a ridiculous price range. I switched doctors. It's crossed my mind that maybe she's a "rainmaker" for the hospital. The other vets (Dr Maxey) are outstanding.

Unfortunately, my most recent visit was a completely different experience. This appointment was my dog's annual checkup after he had recently survived a very serious illness. Because of everything he'd been through, I wanted to be involved in his exam and have the opportunity to discuss his recovery with the veterinarian. After we were placed in an exam room, the technician told me she was taking my dog to the back for a heartworm test and would be right back. Instead, more than 20 minutes passed. When she finally returned, I learned that his physical exam had already been completed and all of his vaccines had already been given while he was in the treatment area. The veterinarian did come into the exam room afterward, but by then I was so surprised and upset that the entire exam had already taken place without me that I wasn't able to have the conversation I had been hoping for. After everything my dog had recently been through, I had expected to be present for his examination and to discuss his recovery before it was over. To make matters worse, some of the information the technician relayed to the veterinarian was inaccurate, which only reinforced my concern that I wasn't included in the conversation about my dog's health. The following day, I received an automated text asking how Jack was doing. I replied by explaining my concerns about the appointment and how disappointed I was with the experience. I never received a response or acknowledgment from anyone at the clinic. Veterinary care is expensive, and I'm happy to pay for quality care. But I also expect to be part of my dog's examination and to have direct communication with the veterinarian, especially after a major medical event. I don't know why the clinic changed its procedures, but this experience was a significant step backward from the level of care and communication I had come to expect.

For example a miscommunication happened during my visit today. I asked someone if I can be seen and he said he's waiting for the doctor charts. 45 minutes pass and I hear one of the techs ask if my dog has walked in. I had to announce my arrival, a little irked that no one noticed me and my dog pacing around at all during that time. However once I was checked in, my dog was in and out in a minute for his vaccines. The doctor we see here is usually great, compassionate, and willing to answer any questions. Other than the hiccup today, I still will continue to come here. I'd say it's much better service than the other vet locations I've visited in the area. PS they have complimentary charging stations which I needed when my phone was at 1% as well as complimentary WiFi.

In my experience, they consistently oversell medications, tests, and additional services that do not always seem necessary. There is constant pressure to add more testing or medications, and the additional charges add up very quickly. I purchased this plan specifically for the peace of mind of knowing my dog could be seen when he needed care, especially in an emergency. Being turned away when I actually have an emergency completely defeats the purpose of paying for this plan. After repeatedly spending hundreds of dollars on top of the membership and now being unable to get my dog seen during an emergency, I have completely lost confidence in this practice. Save yourself the headache and the money. I would not recommend this practice or their care plan based on my experience.

I got a one-sentence follow up saying that they didn't do those tests. No check in, no inquiry about how my dog was doing, no offer for follow up care. We have switched and can no longer recommend them for anything other than one-off issues or vaccines. The young, rotating vets do not seem set up for success here.
