I've had the pleasure of being a client of Chef Mar, using both his weekly meal service and a private brunch. I recommend him for both without hesitation! I never imagined utilizing a chef for weekly meals but life was reaching a point where we needed help managing our time. His weekly meals are delicious and so easy to coordinate and get on the table. My proposal wouldn't have been such a success without Chef Matt!! He served a delicious 4 course meal for 10 people: crab cakes, ahi tuna nicoise salad, duck breast, and cheesecake in a chocolate sphere dome. The food was amazing and the dinner itself was timed perfectly. No course was rushed. Chef hid a ring pop inside my now fiancee's dessert so when she melted the chocolate, it revealed the ring and I proposed. Regarding the food, I've eaten at a lot of high end restaurants and I can honestly say that his food meets and exceeds that level of preparation and quality. The crab cakes (my favorite!) were especially good and had huge chunks of fresh crab in them and are, by far, the best crab cakes I have ever had. The ahi was amazing but the star of the show was definitely the duck breast. The skin was crispy and the duck itself was juicy and flavorful. Everything was seasoned perfectly and the presentation was stellar. Above all else, Chef's dessert made the whole proposal possible. She didn't have a clue! I was a bit of a difficult customer because I love several different kinds of cuisine and wanted to indulge some for the special occasion and he totally accommodated me and made everything taste amazing! We hired Chef Mat to cook dinner for our two sets of parents, to thank them for the endless, generous (& free!) babysitting they provide for our children. There were 6 of us total that evening. The evening was a surprise; our folks had no idea what to expect, only that we were having dinner. We divulged no info ahead of time, so they all assumed we were dining at a restaurant. When they arrived and learned that we had a personal chef preparing dinner at our home, I still think they didn't expect the level of professionalism and superiority of cuisine from Chef Mat that we would soon experience. We worked with Mat ahead of time to coordinate a well balanced menu that would please everyone. The one pivotal member of our party is my father-in-law, he is not a fan of seafood and his tastes are not as adventurous as the rest of us. However, the seared scallop with pancetta ring Mat prepared for our first course was ah-mazing and instantly my father-in-law was impressed. He ate every bite on his plate while raving about how delicious it was. My parents are world travelers and self-proclaimed "foodies" and their socks were knocked-off as well! So much so that my mother inquired about hiring Chef Mat to prepare a private dinner for her upcoming 65th birthday! Every single course seemed to out-shine the previous (if that is even possible) and we all literally licked our plates clean! We have a small and outdated kitchen with very little counter space. I was concerned that Mat would be restricted while preparing our feast for 6. However, he said all he needed was a working stove and oven, and he was right. He brought serving dishes, cookware, coolers, every single ingredient to put all the courses together. He also made recommendations for wine pairings ahead of time, so that we could plan ahead and be prepared with the right wine. In addition, our kitchen was clean and spotless when he left, he did all the dishes. Perhaps one of my favorite elements was not just the superb food, but the interaction with Chef Mat. He was thorough in explaining what we were eating, how he prepared it, and where he sourced it from. His friendly and easy-going personality made the evening that much more enjoyable. We discussed the general guidelines of the menu and then he put together a tasty and beautiful 5 dish meal featuring yummy seasonal items He was simply a joy to work and will be welcome in our home we hope for years to come. What I have come to realize is that entertaining in the comfort of your own home without ANY of the work is so special. Instead of being tired and preoccupied with the food preparation, you are able to truly enjoy the experience. Chef Matt was excellent, he cooked us a delicious 4 course meal for my friends and I. He was very professional and presented each course with a detailed description. His wife was there assisting and I noticed from the table as they were preparing the dessert how cute they were together and my though was these two would make a wonderful cooking couple on the food network! The highlight for me was the scallop. He mentioned most scallops are overcooked and once I tasted this I knew exactly what he meant. The medium rareness gave it a delightful mouth melting experience and the sweet corn purée added a perfect flavor to the dish. Chef Mathew and his wonderful team did such an amazing job preparing delicious appetizers/finger food, a magical dinner, and a lovely brunch (the morning after) for our 25-person party. Chef Mathew spent quite some time putting together three different menus (appetizers, dinner, and brunch) to meet our expectations and our guests' strict dietary needs (i.e. religious, vegetarian options, and allergies). Throughout the whole process, he was very patient, understanding, creative, and accommodating. On the day of our event, we could neither believe our eyes, nor our taste buds! The food was incredibly exciting and delicious, and the presentations were mesmerizing. The three finger food dishes (Heirloom Tomato Tarts with Feta Cheese and Sherry Vinegar, Vegetable Empanadas with Roasted Pepper Romesco Sauce, and Roasted Stuffed Figs) were absolutely delicious and creative! And, the dinner afterwards was just out of this world, both with respect to taste and and presentation! Our four-course dinner menu included: 1. Polish beet soup (per our guests' request); 2. Heirloom Golden Beets with Goat Cheese "Croutons", Pickled Asparagus, Arugula and Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette; 3. Seared Day Boat Scallops/Delta Asparagus with Sweet Corn Puree Micro Herbs and Sherry Gastrique; 4. Grilled Local Lamb Chops/Roasted Chicken Breast/Vegetable Gateau with Asiago-Yukon Gold Gratin and Roasted Heirloom Tomatoes. The Polish beet soup that Chef Mathew made for us immediately got a perfect score from our Polish guests! The salad was very creative and unique. The scallops were done perfectly and our guests absolutely loved their lamb chop/chicken main dishes. All the ingredients that Chef Mathew used were fresh, and the quality and the presentation of the food were fine-dining level! For the brunch, we had Belgian Waffles with Strawberry Butter and Warm Maple Syrup, Quiche with Artichoke Hearts and Roasted Sweet Pepper, Gourmet Omelet Bar with Assorted Ingredients, Fruit Platter with Yogurt and Granola, Assorted Pastries, Fresh Baked Biscuits with Wild Flower Honey, and Orange Juice. Not only did Chef Mathew and his team make and serve delicious meals, they also did an incredible job cleaning the dishes and leaving the kitchen spotless for us. Grandslam! I hired Chef Mathew from looking online. I new nothing about him at all other than what I read online, and I never even saw a picture of him(not that it matters but just for a face to the voice). From the point I contacted Mathew I felt the care and thought in helping me surprise my girlfriend. He prepared a couple 4 course menus from me to pick from. I told Mathew we will be upstairs having couples massages, so if he could just quietly come in and start with dinner target of 8:30, also I told him there will be a table set up in the front room with candles etc. After our massage I told my girlfriend lets walk down the street for dinner. Well as she walked down the stairs she was blown away by this guy(Mathew) in our kitchen dressed professionaly as a chef, and as kind as could be. We went into the front room, and he had lit the candles, poured wine, and layed a personalized menu of what we were having with a title on the menu. All I can say is Mathew was a hit!, He was kind, clean cut, professional, friendly, engaging but also aware. We started off with an appetizer of seared tuna, pickled green beans, quail eggs, and small sliced potatos. Second course was a heirloom beet salad, with goat cheese, main course was the best cooked salmon I have ever had over a rissotto, with fresh leeks. I wasn't sure how I was going to pull off Thanksgiving meal this year...with a Black Friday due date and a house full my Italian in-laws, either cooking all day or the noise level was sure to send me into labor. I contacted Chef Mat, toying with the idea of having the meal prepared for our group of 10. As promised, the next day he delivered a proposed menu which was PERFECT! I booked the meal immediately. Opening each container of food was like opening presents at Christmas; each was met with ooooh and aaaah with my guests. The heating instructions were flawless and the food was amazing.
