Shakshuka
Ryen B.

Yummy spot for a Lebanese brunch in Nashville's 12 South neighborhood. They can accommodate a large group, but you'll need a reservation. Staff are friendly and efficient. Lots of vegetarian options on the menu. Al Raheb (eggplant dip), arnabeet (fried cauliflower with beet tahini), and Epice salad (fresh greens, goat cheese, dried apricots) were all good. Shakshuka is a healthy, filling lunch with two perfectly poached eggs. Lots of shops in the area for walking about after.

The food here was delicious, but I was too tired to remember the full experience. Came here for a work dinner, sharing plates of lamb meatballs, chicken, potatoes, and more. I'd definitely come here again, and I mean - pretty much all the food in the 12 South neighborhood is excellent. Hard to argue revisiting a top rated Lebanese restaurant again. Cool that there seems to be quite a few options for that in Nashville. I had no idea!

Brunch here is very yummy service is quick and the servers are very nice. I have been here twice and have no complaints about any of the food I have tried. The atmosphere is giving #Slay. Overall a wonderful place to get brunch at would very much recommend to anyone in 12 south.

Magnifique!! Really nice atmosphere and ambiance! Service was great top! Love the vegetarian options! The desserts are amazing as well!!

One of our favorite places in 12 South. Great atmosphere, staff, and it's always difficult to make a final decision on food because we love everything, but my go to is the Tawook.

Samak and Sayadeya

Nothing standout, but super light, fresh, sophisticated Lebanese food. You leave feeling light yet satisfied. Each entree comes with a small salad to start which doesn't ruin your appetite but just kicks the meal off with some crisp freshness. We sat outside but the entire restaurant atmosphere is very polished and minimalistic: beautiful. The servers are extremely professional and attentive. We went at around 5pm on a Tuesday and there were many available tables. My friend was getting the sayadeya so I was suggested by our waitress to order the samak with salmon. We also got the Arnabeet to share. Here were my thoughts: Arnabeet: 8.5/10 - Slightly crispy due to a very very light breading, yet the inside of the cauliflower maintained its flavor and integrity. Topped with a gorgeously flavorful beet sauce and pistachios for crunch. Great great bite. Sayadeya: 8/10 - I adored the fish. It was so warm, flaky, and soft in the mouth. The rice was good, but not my favorite. The fish is definitely the star, and the sauce on top just rounds it out perfectly. I wish there were more sauce though, just cause it was that good and I'm a sauce enthusiast. Samak: 6.5/10 - Honestly, I prefer more savory, umami dishes. This was very citrusy and fresh. The couscous was on the cooler side rather than being warm. I did really enjoy the salmon, which was perfectly cooked, super tender and well seasoned. I did feel like the dish was dry and needed a sauce like the sayadeya.

What a great evening , enjoyed the way they. Fought the food out. And of course the man dishes were amazing. Good ambiance in the restaurant as well. We really enjoy the sayadeya dish, it's a favorite.

First time here. Got a solo reservation at the bar, fantastic service. Staff was super attentive and kind. Started with Kibbeh, very good. Wish it was a bit crispier, but flavors were great. Rack of lamb was incredible. Pistachio crust on it was delicious. Definitely will be returning!

Billed modestly as: Intimate, informal bistro serving traditional Lebanese fare with modern flair, plus imported wines. Epice is astandout experience. The new project of the Maher Fawaz, who brought us Kalamata's in Brentwood, Green Hills and Belmont; Epice serves memorable dishes with perfect pairings from the drink menu in a cozy little spot in 12 South.. Epice, (The French word for spice) was designed by Nashvillian Patrick Avice du Buisson to create the intimacy that helps one to enjoy the family-crafted, expertly-spiced dishes reflected in the name.

Epice completely exceeded my expectations. I had heard good things, but this was my first visit--and I was blown away. The interior atmosphere feels like one of Nashville's top-tier restaurants: elegant, warm, and inviting. The service was fantastic from start to finish. We ordered five appetizers, three entrées, two desserts, and a mix of cocktails and wine--and everything was excellent. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I've been to several of Nashville's "top 25" ranked restaurants, and Epice absolutely deserves a spot on that list. It's a hidden gem that delivers on every level. I can't wait to go back.

Everything is meant to be share style on the menu, and so we opted to do a few starting dips with pita bread as well as some salads and two main dishes. The pita bread was honestly the highlight of my night! It was made fresh and it was so simple, but so delectable on its own, even without the hummus, which was also delicious. I think this is one of the best places you can go for good appetizers. I felt that the meat was good, but not as stand out as the hummus and the asparagus salad. I would love to come back for the pita bread alone. The service was exceptional, with an attentive and friendly staff.

I can get the same meal but better up the street on Gallatin with more decor, great staff, and more reasonable prices. It was pretty slow even with only a few tables taken on a week night. The explanation of the menu items wasn't clear even after asking (I don't think the staff member was fully knowledgeable on the ingredients) so we just picked what sounded okay and went with it.

I've wanted to eat at Fattoush Café since I moved to Nashville, but I've never found myself in that part of town at meal time. We walked in and found a cozy atmosphere, with no pretense. A single gentleman behind the counter, who may have been the owner, begged our indulgence as none of his employees had shown up to work that day. We were fine to wait given the delicious smells coming from the grill. He asked us if we wanted the chicken shawarma, and then apologized because he was freshly cooking a batch and it would take 15 minutes to be ready. That was music to our ears. Any Mediterranean restaurant that cooks proteins to order shows great promise. We had a chicken Shawarma salad, and the super platter. The portions were tremendous, the proteins were spectacular, and the tzatziki and spicy sauce both tasted looked and smelled homemade. The hummus was some of the best I've had in this town. The total for two huge meals, that really fed us each twice, was a paltry $40. The man behind the counter thanked us for coming in, again thanked us before we left, and was genuinely kind and seemed happy to have us in the restaurant. Very highly recommended for an amazing Middle Eastern meal on Charlotte Pike near downtown Nashville.

They brought us water and warm flatbread with labneh. It was a great way to start the evening. Our server recommended the lamb dumplings and the chicken kabob. We ordered that plus the Uzbek bread and a lamb sambosa. The sambosa was delicious; flaky dough and minced well spiced lamb. The chicken kabob was delectable; tender, well spiced, and served with sumac onions and other accompaniments. The lamb dumplings (think big manti or momos) were fantastic; again, well spiced lamb and tender dough, served with a really lovely yogurt sauce. Service was fast and friendly. There is a secret however, that few would ever reveal: Nashville has some seriously solid authentic Uzbek food. As the city is home to the largest Kurdish population in America, the foundation of community attracted not only Kurds, but also Uzbeks from larger American cities. Osh is one such outpost for an excellent and authentic meal. Shurpa soup is spectacular with delicate lamb and fatty broth. Manti are ok, although the lamb filling is a bit on the dry side. Somsa is incredible and flaky. Medovik is subpar, synthetic tasting and dry. While not every dish was the highlight of culinary mastery, as a whole, the meal was very satisfying. I can't speak to the authenticity of the Turkish cuisine here, but I can speak to the food quality. Starting off is a beautiful focaccia loaf with a mix of light spices and olive oil. It's odd to say bread is relaxing and refreshing but here it is. The hummus is quite the same, lightly spiced but bright and refreshing. The ezme is interesting. To me it resembles a Turkish version of chips and salsa, very tomato forward but lightly spiced. Only complaint of the meal for me was the lamb kabobs. I am notorious for over seasoning things, and that is simply how my palette is. The lamb was cooked perfectly, not dried out and moist, however I would've liked a little more seasoning. The Billur kabob has been a repeat favorite of mine over the years. The combination of sautéed eggplant, pashamal sauce and onions/peppers/mushrooms creates an explosion of varying textures and tastes. Everything sort of melds together perfectly once it's cooked on the stone oven and becomes a cohesive entree better than the sum of its parts. The servers are always very attentive, respectful and knowledgeable about the menu. When I first started coming here they always had fantastic recommendations. This was one of our first stops. What a fun unassuming place. Walking in on a Saturday about 11 am there was a line in front, a line at the butcher and a line at the bakery. We oogled the aisles at the assortment of offerings and their very good prices. My son then started complaining about being hungry so we decided to return later. As I was leaving we said goodbye to the cashier. He asked if anything was wrong. I replied, no just have to feed my son. He nodded and we were off. 1/2 hour later we were back. This time no line. I asked about the lines. He stated it is normal but it does go fast. I can witness to that. I bought some bread and some sambusas (sp). 1 chicken, had a nice spice but the vegetable blew me away!!! So incredibly tasting I did not feel guilty it being a deep fried pie. We talked to the cashier about the bread. He asked if I went back to the bakery to see what was the freshest. I said I will be right back. I was and bought a few more packages. AMAZING and OMGosh, what a treat watching the bakers make the bread. Makes one wonder how far we have come to want to go back and see how much better authentic bread should and is still made. Should add, but I don't want to, they have a breakfast pizza with sausage in the am and it is limited. Oy...If you see me, get out of my way, I am not above cutting in line and paying you for it. Prices are very good, no dust, no questions on prices, everything clearly marked, (my pet peeve). How do you buy something not knowing the price? Chatted again with cashier about the store and our purchases. Really enjoyed our quick 2 trips in same day within 30 minutes of each other. Will be back for the amazing bread AND Vegetable Sambusas and sweet cashier. See pics of bread. HUGE bread - good for almost anything also made quick pizza for the kids who loved it.
