Came here on a Sunday evening and was surprised that there weren't many people dining inside, although there were definitely plenty of to-go orders coming through. My party and I decided to dine in and ordered the family special, which included 24 wings, veggies, and breadsticks, and we added fries on the side. One thing I really liked was the option to choose up to three wing flavors. We decided on mild buffalo and lemon pepper with extra seasoning. While placing the order, I made it very clear that I wanted extra lemon pepper seasoning but did not want the wings overly drenched in the butter/oil base. The cashier acknowledged me, but I noticed she never entered the request into the register, which honestly became my first red flag. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt and assumed maybe she would communicate it directly to the kitchen... unfortunately, that didn't happen. After paying upfront and taking our number to sit down, it seemed like there had been a rush before we arrived because several tables still needed to be wiped down. I had to request for our table to be cleaned, which normally wouldn't bother me, but it was disappointing seeing one employee standing around while another staff member was clearly overwhelmed handling the register, bagging to-go orders, and assisting customers. When our food finally arrived, the mild buffalo wings were delicious, the fries were hot and fresh, and the veggies were crisp. No complaints there at all. However, the lemon pepper wings were exactly what I feared they would be -- sitting in an excessive amount of oily butter base. I explained again to who appeared to be the manager that I had specifically requested extra seasoning without all the excess oil. Her solution was to bring extra seasoning on the side and suggest that next time I order it that way from the beginning. But the issue wasn't the seasoning itself -- it was the preparation. Once the wings are swimming in oil frying, coated lightly and dried, sprinkling extra seasoning on afterward doesn't really help because it doesn't stick the same way. It just throws the whole experience off seeing your food swimming in visible oil. I ended up having to remove the wings from the excess buttered oil myself, request another plate, and re-coat them at the table. At that point, it felt like I was finishing the prep work that should've already been done in the kitchen. Overall, I'd give this establishment about 3.5 stars. There's definitely room for improvement when it comes to lobby cleanliness, teamwork during busy periods, order accuracy, and food prep consistency. This experience wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't the best. I'd still recommend this location because franchises can vary depending on management and staff, and the food itself was fresh and made to order. If I'm ever back in the area craving wings, I'd probably do takeout next time and make extra sure my lemon pepper wings aren't overloaded with oil. read more

I'm a big wings fan, and one of the best wings chained restaurants is Epic Wings. I must say I enjoyed their old name better as Wings n Things, but it has changed to Epic Wings. This chain is a must stop by for me every time I find myself in San Diego. This time, I stop by one in Mission. This location has plenty of free strip mall parking, service was fast, and the manager was really nice. The restaurant is clean. Hello, I visited the MV store today and was very unsatisfied with the meal I received. I ordered the 3-piece tender meal and was appalled by the portion size of the tenders -- they looked more like nuggets. For $15, I expected better quality and consistency from Epic Wings. I called and spoke with Nick, who told me I could return immediately for a remake. I explained that I was on my lunch break and that wasn't possible. Do not eat here. I visited Epic Wings in Mission Valley on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, and witnessed something deeply upsetting. A young African American boy--maybe 8 to 10 years old--came into the restaurant politely selling candy. Instead of simply declining, the manager, Nick, yelled at him. He told the child "NO!" and to "GET OUT!" in a harsh, hostile tone. The boy walked out looking completely defeated. I spoke to him afterward, and he confirmed what I had seen. The interaction was filled with unnecessary anger and cruelty toward a child who clearly meant no harm. I later learned that he was selling candy to help his mother pay for their hotel room. She had lost her job after her car broke down, leaving her and her four children homeless. I gave her what I could and promised to look for additional resources. The stress in her eyes said everything. Epic Wings is part of this community. The very least they could have done was treat a struggling child with dignity. Even if they didn't want to buy candy, there was absolutely no reason to shout at him. The lack of basic empathy was disturbing. I went back inside and asked Nick what happened. He claimed he politely said, "No thank you," which was simply not true. His willingness to lie so casually was alarming. As I left, several customers looked at me and shook their heads, confirming that they, too, had witnessed the exchange. To top it off, the food wasn't even worth the trouble--tasteless wings and unseasoned fries. I am ashamed I had just spent $20 here. First time I've eaten at an actual Epic Wings location (normally I just have a bite from what my roommie orders for delivery). I have to say, it tastes really good fresh! I was pretty surprised how much I enjoyed their buffalo wings. They give a pretty decent amount of breadsticks and I was happy with the freshness of the carrots and celeries they provide. Normally this kind of food makes me sick, but, surprisingly, I felt fine after eating here. I was very looking forward to eating the single pizza sticks I ordered until I got home and opened the box to eat and saw how overcooked this was. I saw that it was way overcooked and it was super hard that it made me lose my appetite and ruined my mood as well as I was looking forward to eating the pizza sticks. I have been to many Epic Wings locations around San Diego but this one, in my opinion, beats them all. The service from the staff is always on point whenever I come in, for either pick up or dine in. For food, I usually get the Combo #2 with Honey BBQ sauce and they are by far the best with portions. I usually never get to finish my food all the way because it's a good amount for the price. The only downside I could think of is the parking lot which is busy the majority of the times I come in and I have to park a bit further. Other than that, I recommend this place! read more

There are numerous locations of Epic Wings N Things, but I decided to visit this spot where Daphne's California Greek used to be at the Rio Vista Shopping Center in Mission Valley. The inside had been revamped to match the setup for a chicken wing place. Parking was very easy in the spacious lot at this shopping plaza which doesn't have a lot of customer traffic. The menu was simple like the rest of the franchise in offering four different levels of either tenderloin strips, boneless wings, or original Buffalo wings. I chose a Double Meal of original Buffalo Wings (12 pieces) with a sweet chili sauce and ranch dressing. The order came with four bread sticks and some carrots and celery. The sauce wasn't too spicy as it packed a light amount of heat. The wings were crunchy but I felt they should have been larger for the price. Both the cashier and the server that brought my food from the kitchen were friendly. The former allowed me to taste test a couple of the sauces before I decided on the sweet chili.
