Therefore, we got here much earlier than the check-in time (though not as much due to the EES nightmares). Therefore, we were able to freshen up a little bit and head out accordingly. The bathrooms near the lobby are quite clean and spacious so it's very easy to freshen up there. Due to some business conferences at the hotel - it was quite packed when we arrived on a Tuesday - there was no opportunity to upgrade, but that's okay. We also skipped the breakfast add-on as we were heading off on a train early in the AM. The room itself was quite nice and up to the standards of a Sheraton. We got some office building views from our room. The free water came handy too, but again we were here for only one night. The bathroom itself was clean and spacious enough. The shower/tub combo is something I don't always see (though I have in Europe) and the glass wall with the curtains certainly makes this more suitable for a couple than anyone beyond that, but it did the job. The hotel itself is in the business district and there isn't too much around unless you want to walk to Avenida which isn't too far away. If you want a business-friendly hotel with a guaranteed quality of sorts, you can't go wrong here.

We were welcomed with a delicious glass of port and a great tart (I could have eaten 5 of them). There is one tiny elevator to take you to the rooms. The rooms aren't huge, but very comfortable with new furniture. The bathroom and shower are great. Then the really great thing was that on my wife's birthday, they had a cake for her. It was really good also, just incredibly thoughtful. We really loved our stay here.

Besides complimentary cook to order breakfast the hotel offers 3 free walking tours around the city and in room mini bar items-such as water, soft drinks, and beer-are also complimentary. The hotel even has various snacks (cookies, snacks, some food items) offered to guests in the lobby entrance as well as a daily happy hour. One final bonus are the 17th century ruins in the downstairs lounge area. Finally, the location is excellent. Corpo Santo is about a minute walk from Pink Street, 5 minute walk from Time Out Market, and very close to a number of tourist attractions in a less densely populated area than other hotels I looked at as well as a short walk from the water. Unfortunately, the people in the front desk left quite an unpalatable impression on us. Most would consider it wise to put a friendlier face at the front end of such an establishment. A welcoming face and an affable and understanding demeanor to weary and confused travelers would be a wonderful warm welcome!! However, this was not the case. The front desk people need some refresher course on their pleasantries and welcoming skills. Good thing this was not the first hotel we stayed upon arriving to the country!! We immediately wished that we had gone back to The Lumiares Hotel & Spa in Barrio Alto. Despite that place being busy and at the center of Barrio Alto, the staff there truly were hospitable and engaging; night and day difference compared to this one. I understand that the hotel could be busy but there's a difference with attentive staff on busy hours and just plain aloof. There were 2 gentleman and a lady who were in their desks. I observed all 3 of them sitting coldly in there while they were ent about their routine. There was another elderly couple standing with us when we were waiting for our turn to get checked in, and the guy on the other desk just sat there while his other colleagues were going about their work. Let's give him the benefit of a doubt... He could be busy or maybe not able to check any of us in, but one could argue that it's still not hard to provide some friendly support or maybe asked the other guests if there was anything that he could help with while we stand there. I mean offer the poor lady with a cane a chair perhaps while her poor husband was trying to coral their luggage's, the guy could've called a bellhop to help them. Regardless, the lady who checked us in was business as usual; all cold and quite unwelcoming that she couldn't even be bothered to try and work up a mere smile so she could appear acutely affable. After all, you are in the hospitality business and the face of the establishment being situated in the front. Thankfully, interacting with the front desk was a short one. Despite all that, I hate to highlight that debacle because the rest of the staff were wonderful! They were welcoming and friendly. Whenever we had our breakfasts, we were always pleasantly greeted. The servers and the kitchen staff were attentive. Despite being busy, they took their time to answer and explain some of our questions and sincerely asked us about our stay. Our server was delightful & genuinely curious about our trip and was kind to give us ideas and suggestions. We heard her have the same pleasant interactions with the other guests and impressively in other languages. Overall, besides our front desk fiasco, we still enjoyed our stay here. Bad: The gym is small and doesn't offer a lot of variety. The food is so good in Portugal that exercise is a necessity (even with all the hills in Lisbon). The gym is also not open 24/7 as advertised. The door is closed and locked at night; and clients must go to the front desk to get someone to unlock the gym instead of being able to use their room key, which is the standard in most hotels. Good: Diogo and Daniela: What an AMAZING Team!!!! A concierge is a dedicated staff member who helps guests with various services. Their primary role is to save people time and make life easier by handling tasks like making reservations, arranging travel, securing event tickets, and providing personalized recommendations. Diogo and Daniela perform that duty better than anyone I have experienced in any country. The present a master class-level of service. I knew Lisbon would be an amazing experience; but Diogo and Daniela sealed the deal in stellar fashion!

Their elevator is modernized, pre-scan with room card, and assigned an elevator. Some visitors simply take a longer time to understand how it works. One can get stuck behind a group and wait forever for an elevator. Other than that, we had a genuinely excellent stay. The room is comfortably sized and set up well. We were on the 17th floor with a skyline view. Pockets of the hotel are particularly pretty. My favorite is the back garden area. There are places to get a drink or simply visit. Breakfast can be chaotic when a tour group(s) is also there, but they manage well. The food choices are abundant; the cut fruits such as papaya were ripe and delicious. Coffee and drinks are delivered to the table. The location is good but not great. It is near a train station and a grocery store. Several restaurants are within easy walking distance, though not many. More options are a 20 minutes' walk away. Taking an uber is easier.
