This used to be my favorite LGS. They have large game nights and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Took a collection of mid-high value cards in, after they failed to respond to my emails. Waited a few days and finally got an offer on my cards. Offer was ridiculously low. I said no thanks, I'll come get my cards. As soon as I said I wasn't interested Steve was rude over the phone. Tried arguing with me about the value of the cards, their condition, etc. I told him I wasn't interested in arguing and would simply come get my cards. Went in an hour later and Lo and behold, some were missing. I mentioned this to Steve. I noticed his hands were obviously shaking. As soon as I said something about the missing cards he got extremely defensive. He acted like I had accused him directly (which I did not, I understand mistakes sometimes happen). He then tried to escalate the situation, raising his voice in the crowded store and yelling at me in front of dozens of people. It was Friday night, they were hosting a game night. Steve continued to yell at me, even as I walked out. Unprofessionalism, cards disappearing, and insultingly low offers seem to be par for the course, judging by the reviews. Let me start buy saying the guys here are always helpful and have a great stock on different games and cards. Yes the prices can be little high but that's how they make money to keep thing going. Wish that they had more single packs and that's about it:) read more

Beware dungeon masters alike, This place promises payment for your work, but then pays you less than 1 dollar an hour. This place claims to care about you, but even if you pay they'll seat you and your group in the loudest section of the store. This place claims to take satisfaction seriously, but the staff are entirely allowed to disrespect you with no repercussions. The trade in values are bad. The only bathroom is worthless. And the only two employees are the chrises, purely because they're actually hospitable towards the clients. Beware dungeon masters, your group will be yelled at for even saying a bad word, and the staff will get away with arguing with your rulings. read more

Very disappointed with ownership who wouldn't honor what one of their employees stated in written communication. I understand that mistakes can happen but I feel the error should be honored or somehow made up for. It's more about the attempt to resolve the issue or offer other means to make a customer happy. read more

When my sister -in-law and I walked in here we were completely ignored. There were four guys in the shop and they were all apparently too busy with their game to even greet their customers. That or they thought we weren't going to buy anything because we were two women in a gaming store. I prefer to think they aren't sexist, but are just extremely lacking in customer service. They said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to us the entire time we were in the store. They appeared to have a good selection of TCG and RPG supplies, but a very limited supply of board games. In the end they didn't have any of the games I was looking for. I will not be returning to this store, and I would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Epic Gaming reminds of a full fledged gaming store that I used to frequent before I moved up to Oregon. It looks like they've only been at their location for less than a year and that they're building their way up. There's a large open space and tables for what could be (and probably is) used for any number of table top games. When I was there, there were a handful of people playing Magic and the general atmosphere was pretty laid back. The guy behind the counter was nice/helpful. I was only there to buy dice for an upcoming Munchkin game (of which they had a number of expansion decks), but the other review said they had video games so I'll have to go back very soon. I hope that they expand their miniature section (as I only saw Warhammer minis) as well. Basically, it's a store that looks like it could/will be a lot more if given enough time. So go and support them. read more

Epic is great! Employees are great, prices are well bellow average compared to the other card shops around Portland. Best card shop for Pokemon TCG for miles! Lots of space, very laid back and chill. Everyone rocks, 5/5 stars! read more

Very disappointed in the way that I was treated when I had came in looking for a particular product ... I was quoted One Price bit I did not have my wallet on me so I came back the next day to find out that that price was double what it was the night before and when I said something I was told the owner told me to sell it for this price tough... luckily there is a small comic book shop in Gladstone that is where i will be buying my booster packs from here on out. read more

Came here for a Pokemon tournament. It was organized very well and we all enjoyed ourselves very much. The only downside was the lack of Pokemon related material for sale. I wanted to support them and buy some sleeves or boxes for our cards. But they didn't have anything available. I didn't even see any packs of cards available. But the main thing was the tournament which was fun. We will definitely be back. read more

Everyone who works here is super nice and helpful!! I've just started to play magic and what I love is that I can check their inventory online. Not many card stores offer that. Plus they have free edh matches on Wednesdays, huge plus in my book! read more

We went here for the soul purpose because it says it's open till 10 PM and when we arrived the employee inside as setting up tables and there was absolutely no sign saying they were closed. In fact the only sign there was, was the one saying open from noon-10pm and after 10minutes of waiting we checked the door for a fourth time and the employee came over stared us in the eye and just pointed at the non light open sign and walked away. This place has been pretty hit or miss in the past, but it was the only store in town that had the singles I needed. Perhaps its because its so far out of the way or some other reason but I ended up here today. Walked in and looked around. I was mechanically asked if I needed anything and I politely said I was browsing. While doing so, a guy walked up to the counter and was talking to the "cashier" I stood behind him while the two talked and when another employee walked up and and joined in, I almost said something but refrained. The 'cashier" looked at me as the other employee stood there talking and so I looked at him and he stopped and walked away, oddly enough. I told the "cashier" that I was in need of a couple singles. He said their singles computer was around the corner and that he just sent someone to it. He contemplated for a couple seconds and decided to just take my order there. I understand how card shops do things, but having worked in retail about 90% of my working life, I feel like an employee should try to understand a customers needs before blindly sending them off to use a system they aren't necessarily familiar with to simply buy a couple things. This employee seemed to be bothered to have to do the job that he was hired for and being paid to do. When I left part of me had wished I had saved the gas and time and just ordered my cards online. I have shopped there since Dan and T.j. started it years ago and in the last year customer service has been horrible. I am constantly waiting. I have to ask for service, and always told they are busy it will be just a moment. as they sort cards, or pulling internet orders. I understand certain priorities but everything is behind counters making it impossible to actually look at most of their product. I have actually started to go to Red Castle before Epic. I went in today and timed it from the moment I entered it took fifteen minutes to get out of the store. read more
