As someone with curly hair, I recommend taking extra time to talk to your stylist about what you're looking for and researching the DevaCurl haircut prior to booking. My initial visit to Envy was quick and pleasant. The environment is very welcoming and COVID conscious, which is a blessing in times like this. I left feeling comfortable since it was the first time I had my haircut in 8 months! (Ugh COVID...) When I got home, I did notice that pieces were uneven and there was one strand much longer than the other...I thought perhaps it was my curl pattern and moved along. A few weeks later I decided to straighten my hair and noticed that there was a visible difference in my length on both sides and that the layers were a bit choppy. Concerned and upset, I left a review and called the salon. Lynn, Envy's Lead Stylist and owner, was happy to address the issue with me and explained that stylists were trained to complete a DevaCurl haircut which follows the cut of your curl pattern, length, and texture. This sometimes leaves hair uneven when your curl pattern changes or if you straighten your hair. Since I was not completely satisfied with my visit, Lynn was kind enough to fulfill my request for a refund. This staff is friendly and committed to excellence. As a small business they are happy to work with you in order to make sure you receive the satisfaction you deserve. Best place to get your hair cut within the town of Geneseo. It's the only place I was willing to try, and I wasn't disappointed. Staff is pretty friendly, but I was a bit irritated. I mean seriously, it's a REALLY small town. If places in NYC can do walk-ins, I think that a place in Geneseo should be able to too. But no, make sure you request an appointment at least 6ish hours in advance. It's my fault for the most part though because I procrastinate and don't like making reservations for anything. I don't know about anyone else, but if you're going to get your hair cut, ask for Jack. He's super friendly, super sweet, and really knows how to cut hair. read more

I had quite possibly the worst experience getting my nails done here ever in my entire life. I haven't said anything and I'm not the type of person to say something, but my nails are finally back to normal after months of growing them out from my experience at Envy. I went in with acrylic powder on my real nails and asked to have them removed and get a gel manicure. The girl just out of high school put on the foil and nail polish remover I sat for like 2 mins and she took it off. Then she begins to shave it down, shave it down ... and continue to shave it all the way to my REAL nail. I was fidgeting because it hurt and she wasn't stopping- I got so nauseous and dizzy I told her I would pass out if she didn't stop. My nails were raw. I had to stay and get the gel still because I felt like I needed to have something done on top to protect my nail. She does it so sloppy the polish was stuck to the skin around my nail. Then when I was getting ready to pay (still to this day don't know why I did) I overheard the manager tell her to charge me more for taking off the acrylics because "they don't do that here" which maybe in a good business would be something you tell the customer Before you give them horrible service. I wish I said something then just upset that they say they do nails when they clearly don't- and it was so painful I don't want others to experience the same. read more

I scheduled a pedicure today online. Loved the ability to schedule the appointment on line instead of having to call some place. The young lady that did it was great BUT they don't have a real pedicure area. They bring warm water from the back sink. No jets. No temp control. The pedicure was $33 and maybe worth $15. Chair was very uncomfortable. There were so many steps NOT done for a normal pedicure. No soaking time, no cuticle care really pushed back but no cuticle oil). No cleaning under nail. No trimming of nails on edges to prevent ingrown nails. No exfoliation. Calluses treated a little but still there. Did trim and file nails. Did massage each foot for approximately a minute or so. Technician was very nice and pleasant. I would save your money and go someplace where you will spend $10 less and receive a "real" pedicure. read more

I've been here twice; the first time was exceptional. I went for a drastic change and my stylist was awesome and listened to exactly what i wanted to help me achieve the look i was going for. So, when it was time for a trim naturally I booked my appointment here. This time was not so great. The stylist, Hailey, was so completely rude to me the entire time. Rushing me in and out in about 15 minutes. Did the exact opposite of what i asked her to do. Barely cut my hair and the part she did cut is uneven. Literally rushed me out of the chair with sopping wet hair when her next appointment showed up 10 minutes early. Told me she didn't have enough time to blow dry me. Made snide comments about other people in front of me. Just all around a rude person. I will not being going back. read more

usually never write reviews unless I am very serious about a place I experienced very bad/good quality of services. This place however, was not somewhere I would recommend... I'm not from around here and while on vacation I was in need for some highlights. I went in one day and spoke with a gentlemen there. I asked him what the price would be to get my hair partially highlighted (only the top of the head) He told me it would be no more then 45-55 dollars for the highlights (mind you I also have very fine/thin short hair) I also asked how much a conditioning treatment was and he said $10. Thinking that these prices were reasonable, I made the mistake of scheduling an appointment for the next day. Once I arrived I waited patiently for the hair dresser, named Kelly to call me to get chair. I then explained to her what I wanted and that the previous gentlemen working here told me how much my highlights would be (45-55 at the MOST) she then asked me if I wanted it cut /styled /blow dryed and I replied, no. Long story short Kelly did my highlights and I ended up getting a condtionar treatment (which they said would be $10) she then blew dry my hair (without asking $$) and I assumed she was doing it to be nice so I could see the finished results of the highlights. I Finally went to the register after getting my hair done, thinking it was gonna be $60-75 at the most. Then the lady at the front desk proceeds to tell me the total..which was $105.00 for my hair ?? I was confused and nicely asked the lady at the front desk how it could be that much and to walk me threw the prices. She started off by telling me my high lights were $75 ? And they vary price everything ? (She also wasn't the nicest employee) I was beyond furious with the price because we had already previously went over the prices before hand, she also told me Kelly priced me for the blow dry, which I specifically told her I didn't want from the start. At the end of the day I paid around $120 including the top. On top of that my highlights are very chunky (which I asked her for thin natural looking ones) and also the "conditioning treatment" they gave me seemed to do absolutely nothing to my hair. As working at a Salon myself for many years, i have never had a problem like this before or seen these prices/ lie about prices. Very disappointed on the quality of the salon/ work they do for what they price things at. I feel as If i got taken advantage of. Would never ever go back to Envy and I would suggest no one does, many better salons around here (so I here from locals) read more

I made an appointment with Megan for my first set of gels just before I left for a vacation to Florida. I scheduled my appointment on a Wednesday to take advantage of the 20% student discount which I really appreciate the salon offering, as they are just on the edge of the SUNY Geneseo campus. I decided on white gel polish and Megan was so helpful explaining everything I needed to know about gels. She finished my nails quickly and efficiently. I was out of the salon in about 25 minutes and was very pleased with my nails. Unfortunately, I found my nails to be less and less satisfactory as I spent more time with them. All but a few of my nails had strips on either side of the nail that had not been covered by the top coat, were not shiny, and were left tacky. Secondly, I had my nails squared off with the file before putting on the polish and some nails were crooked across the top instead of a straight filed line. Lastly I found that the day after getting my nails, Thursday, my white nails had all begun to yellow along the tips. I looked up reasons as to why people experience yellowing on white gel, and seeing as I am not a smoker or a tanner, I have to assume that the polish is somewhat cheap or of substandard quality. I think that I would've had a much better experience at Envy if I hadn't chosen to get white gel, and because of that I believe I will return to try another color. The staff was kind and welcoming and I am both eager and anxious to give the salon a second chance. read more
