We had such a bad experience with exceptionally rude receptionists and "upselling" at larger companies (ServPro) just trying to get an estimate for mold and water damage, so it was refreshing to work with Ansony. We noticed mold and water damage in a corner of our home and Ansony was able to come out to give an estimate shortly after we called. After a few weeks of us dealing with insurance, we noticed some additional damage elsewhere in the home. We reached back out to Damage Squad once we had things squared away with insurance to have them check out the additional damage and they came the next day to reevaluate and update their estimate. The changes were very reasonable--Ansony understood our budget and made it very clear what was necessary to address (i.e., mold) versus what could wait (i.e, more cosmetic things). So we signed the contract that day. Damage Squad came the next morning. Incredible. It's hard to find someone you feel like you can trust for home improvement, but Ansony clearly knows what he's doing and I never felt like he was trying to "upsell" or overcharge us. I felt like he genuinely made decisions and recommendations as if our home was his home, and he and his team treated it as such. I usually only go for providers with many reviews, but my gut said go with Ansony, and I'm so glad we did. Would 110% recommend Damage Squad.

When a contractor tells you to commit fraud because it is undetectable, ask yourself, are they that desperate for work? Also, it appears most of their old "5 start" rating was fake - Yelp removed all of the reviews and put them in the "unrecommended reviews" section. I wish I had not seen a 5 star rating and called them... Fortunately it looks like Yelp fixed the issue and the current rating you see is more valid.

Once it was dry, they came back to replace/repair all the damage. The staff of orange flood was amazing! They handled everything promptly, and the repair work was done professionally! Nightmare from beginning to end…read more Long story short: did shoddy work, damaged the house, did not finish the job, took the money and ran. Maryland Home Inspection Services seems to have been taken over by the son of the original owner, whose behavior has demonstrated his lack of integrity. Brian (the son, who also runs several other companies) gives a great sales pitch on the phone, but I should have trusted my instincts when Brian and his assistant first came to my house and charged me almost $700 just to rip down parts of my ceiling to see if mold was in there. I had to ask for a report which one would have expected with a $700 price tag for a mold inspection. Overall, their pricing was better than the competition (but still not cheap!) so I hired them. When they came to do the work, Brian brought what seemed like two completely untrained novices off the street. They were nice enough but it was basically a dynamic of him barking orders at them from the ground because he is too heavy to actually do any work himself. They were fine at first (despite not wearing any protective gear), but by the end of the first day I already had a lot of concerns. Brian had told me that the entire kitchen ceiling had to come down, yet when they declared themselves finished and had already taken down all the plastic, I noticed they had left up all the old plaster that was water-damaged and Brian had specifically said needed to be removed during my inspection. I had to argue with them to get them to remove it, he acted like I was making it up, and his assistant complained that it would add time to the job. They took most of it (not all of it) down but they did so without putting up any protection, much less venting the contaminated dust outside, which Brian had said they would do but did not do at all until after the demolition and fogging. As a result, dust and debris got all over the first floor of my house, and cleanup was nonexistent. The frustration did not stop there, however, Brian made use of several of my household items including brooms, dust pans and trash bags without asking. I would not have minded had he asked, but he didn't. This was after already making a trip to Home Depot on my time. These bags were then left on my porch, blocking the mailbox. In retrospect, they should have rented a dumpster. After I voiced my concerns, Brian told me that "a corner is something [he] would never cut." I also had to get on them about an area in the bathroom ceiling that had an obvious large bubble from water damage and was not removed. Brian also showed me an area in my sunroom that had a lot of mold and water damage. He said they couldn't take down the full water-damaged section because to do so would be too expensive to repair, but that they would "spray it real good." Well I am still suffering because of the mold they left up there, and having learned from multiple sources that dead mold can still make you sick (which it is), I feel that they did not do a thorough job. However, the worst was yet to come! The crew was tasked with removing dirty insulation from the attic, which was supposed to be "hand scrubbed" and treated for mold (Brian loved to say how things would be "hand scrubbed" and the estimate said everything would be HEPA-vacuumed. NOTHING was scrubbed and NOTHING was vacuumed.) Unfortunately, one of the helpers he seemingly got off the street didn't know how to walk in an unfinished attic, and put his foot through the ceiling into a bedroom, leaving a hole in the plaster ceiling about 4 feet long. I was told that the company would have it fixed and in the meantime they covered it with plastic. At first he pretended he was going to finish the work and scheduled with me only to cancel the morning of with an excuse that the drywall guy might have COVID. More than a month later, the hole is still not fixed, and Brian and company have dropped off the face of the earth, ignoring multiple contact attempts. However, that was not before pestering us for the remainder of the payment which he received from a third party before finishing the work (against my advice). They never finished waterproofing work they were doing in my basement (I do not believe they fogged or airscrubbed as they were supposed to either), the attic only had about 20% of the dirty insulation removed, and now I have a hole in a bedroom ceiling into the filthy attic. They even left a ladder and a bunch of supplies on my front porch, despite me asking them to come get them more than a month ago. They also left black handprints all over the upper part of my kitchen walls that I had to get on a ladder and clean. I sent Brian multiple texts and emails before giving up. His record on Maryland Judiciary Case Search is something I wish I had looked at before hiring him (tons of lawsuits). I am in a worse position now, after remediation from this company, than I was before. I wish I had hired someone else.

We are really satisfied with the mold remediation process and having a healthy home that this person with asthma can safely live in and enjoy.

Two and a half years later, the house was beautiful to look at. UNFORTUNATELY, after getting renters in the home we realized NOTHING was hooked up. When the tenants started using everything, the master bathroom tub was put in backwards. Jetted tub flooded the downstairs ceiling. The stove was leaking gas because the gas line was too short. The fireplace was leaking and the fire department said my house could have blown up, the dishwasher was not hooked up to the water line, and subsequently flooded the basement. The tenants counted live there because of severe asthma, so their rent was comped, and service master refused to compensate for loss of wages. They refused to take responsibility, and placed an insurance claim with their insurance company and refused to give my loss wages for rent or pain and suffering from the incompetence. They fired the contractor working on my behalf because they were wrong, and I'm still finding things wrong in the house. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. They are out for self, and not the consumer. It's unfortunate that they don't care about who pays their bills.
