Fantastic! I just had my computer fixed by Arlington Virginia Computer Repair and couldn't be more pleased. In addition to giving it a thorough cleaning (feels like new!), they removed some malware and installed some protective software. They also took the time to sit with me and explain all their work and sent me home with instructions on maintaining my computer and its security. They were very accommodating and fixed my computer sooner than I expected. Highly recommend! read more

I had a damaged hard drive and wasn't sure how much data could be recovered from my laptop. Alexander was able make an exact copy of my hard drive onto an external drive. I'm very thankful to have all of my photos, programs, and documents back! The turnaround time was great too. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends and family for their computer needs. read more

Great Service! Very professional! My old computer is now like brand new! Alexander fixed the problems I knew my computer had, AND the problems I didn't even know existed, all for a lower price than Geek Squad and those other companies; and I didn't feel like just another number because of the great one-on-one communication. read more

I called Arlington Virginia Computer Repair for the first time Friday afternoon. The power switch on my HP desktop computer had stopped working and I was doing research on where I could drop it off for repair. Jennifer was professional, respectful, kind, ---and knowledgeable. After asking several questions and listening carefully she recommended a "hard reset", giving me simple steps to "discharge the old energy." Worked like a charm. Didn't cost me a dime. All future computer issues will begin with a call to this company. read more

I'm usually pretty good at fixing my computer myself. When I couldn't get it working correctly, I called in a professional. That's what Alex is - a consummate professional. Courteous, knowledgable and determined to get to the bottom of my computer's probelms and get them fixed. He apologized profusely for it taking as long as it did, but considering how messed up it was, the time to repair was completely understandable. I cannot recommend him more highly. read more

Just want to pile on with AVCR...numbers help. Been there three times with three different laptops and Alex and his crew are fantastic. They're honest, they give you the quote up front, and if they can't fix it for a reasonable price, they don't hit you up for anything other than labor for assessment, etc. A great local business. read more

I didn't get my computer serviced here, but I can attest to the service here. I put in an appointment request late on a Tuesday night and received an answer from Alexander 10 minutes after opening hours the next day. Awesome! Because the issues with my computer could have been caused by a number of things (some of which this place doesn't fix), they suggested some things I could do to rectify the situation on my own and recommended another repair place that was authorized to fix whatever the issue was. I'm very grateful that instead of making me waste time to come out to the shop and pay a diagnostic fee, they provided some suggestions and steered me in the right direction. That's about as good as it gets! read more

I emailed Alex and he was able to see me promptly. My problem ended up being a simple one involving wires and an DIY job gone wrong. He was able diagnosis the problem, explain it to me, and fix it within a day. Great service. read more

The first laptop I ordered was about $3K. I wanted to get its full value so I kept it for like 5 years. However, computers are obsolescent after 2-3 years. Because of this I bought a cheap laptop for $500. Big mistake as it already is falling apart after 1 year. I've learned my lesson, next time I will buy a higher quality computer. This brings me to needing a computer expert to fix my computer. This husband and wife duo are fabulous. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly and excellent customer service. The only concern is the lengthy time to fix my computer because they are in such high demand. They gave me cost saving ideas, they didn't try to rip me off but rather were concerned about my budget, they were personable with conversations, they were in constant communication with updates, their pricing was reasonable, they gave me tips for buying a future laptop, at home care so that my computer would not overheat again. I can't say enough good things about their service. EXCELLENT! read more

You know you are in serious trouble when your computer freezes during boot-up and you are facing a black screen and a cryptic message in white type. Using a second device, I launched a Google search for a local computer repair service and zeroed in on Arlington Computer Repair because it was so highly rated on Yelp. I wasn't disappointed. Alex is highly professional and efficient. He diagnosed the problems, made the necessary fixes, and had my computer ready to go well within the promised time-frame. He also set me up with a much better back-up strategy and made a number of useful suggestions on how to avoid problems in the future. I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of IT help. read more

My computer died a couple months ago and I found this business through yelp. My experience was a complete nightmare. I will never go there again. it was a waste of my time and money! First of all, it has horrible customer service. After I dropped my computer, Alex (the owner) told me that he would give me a call in 3-5 bus days. He did not. I had to call twice, and finally talked to him after two weeks. He said the computer is not fixed and to check again. I called and called. Most of the times, the phones are not answered and the phone calls are not returned. (on average I called three times before somebody calls me back) When Jessica (or Jennifer), Alex's partner did answer the phones, she was RUDE, accusing me of things I have not done. She also could not explain what is wrong and why it is taking so long. I finally got my laptop back after about a month. It was not fixed properly. The data was not restored. On top of it, my keyboard is all broken (and it worked perfectly fine before I dropped it off). When Alex gave me the computer back, he said that Jessica cleaned my keyboard. Thanks, Jessica! I called and complained, but it fell on deaf ears. Apparently, it was my fault. read more

Came on here to write a nice review of a local business, not at all surprised that he already has 45 of them. Alex really has his act together. I knew I had a hard drive issue. Alex required $100 up front to diagnose, and confirmed that I had a hard drive issue. My total bill ended up being ~$290 for swapping out the hard drive. (My data was already backed up so no data-recovery was necessary.) I didn't shop around so I can't comment on whether this is a good price. But the service was fast and professional. The location is a bit difficult -- he's located in a residential area -- but I would gladly go back. read more

After reading all of the great reviews of this computer repair shop, I was looking forward to having them help me diagnose and resolve my computer problem. But as it turned out, they treated me like they didn't want my business! First, I called and was told that it would take 2 weeks to get an appointment. In all of my 16 years of owning a PC, I have never been asked by any shop to wait even a day to bring my machine in to get it checked out, let alone 2 weeks! Given how good the reviews were, and given that I had another computer at home that I could use while the other one was acting up, I was still interested in working with AVCR. So then the lady who I was speaking with asked me what brand/model my computer was. Well, my machine is no single brand or model and consists of different parts, etc. from different firms. So then she tells me that they don't work on "custom" machines! I've patronized many reputable computer repair shops before, and nobody has ever refused me because of this reason. Never! Bottom line is that I felt like I was talking to a doctor's office that really didn't want to accept any new patients and/or that didn't accept my insurance! If you need for your computer to be "seen" within a reasonable amount of time or if you have a custom machine, then AVCR is not the place for you! read more

My laptop completely malfunctioned and lost the use of the screen, which threw me for a loop. Within the week he was able to get EVERYTHING off the hard drive onto an external drive. Took him 3 ish hours of his time, which is not cheap, but even my temporary folders were recovered. Then, I had him recycle that worthless piece of electronics, as well as a few others (as part of my spring cleaning). He made an effort to get the data off one of them, but to no avail within my budget. All in all, he did a great job. The cost for his time/services are well worth it. However, if you need to have data recovered onto a new hard drive, I would recommend providing your own. read more

My laptop hard drive failed unexpectedly and I was stuck not knowing where to take it. The consensus was not to take your chances at Geek Squad if you don't know who works there. My friends also told me I had probably done more on my own trying to fix it than Best Buy would. I'm not even sure how I came across AVCR but it as probably a desperate Google search for "arlington computer repair". Because who uses the Yellow Pages now anyway? Everything was very professional. They responded to e-mails promptly and were very accomodating and answered all of my questions knowledgably. (And by "they" I suppose I mean Alexander, the owner/founder.) I ended up having to get data recovered, and it was done at a very reasonable price. Most importantly, I trusted them with my laptop, data, and other hardware. (And I wouldn't leave my files anywhere!) Who knows how much they profit, but it was also really nice that the diagnostic fee is subtracted from the total price of the repair/data recovery. So I didn't have to break the bank just because I'm attached to my e-mails and documents and hadn't backed up recently. ***One warning! Make sure you're on 8th St and not 8th Rd when you go there! read more

I can't say enough about Alex and AVCR. Pricing was fair and his communication throughout the process couldn't have been improved upon. He was truly concerned about increasing the lifespan of my machine at the best possible price. The next time I need computer services I will call on Alex again. read more

Alexander and his team are amazing. I highly recommend them to anyone with computer problems! When my desktop started crashing, leaving me with the BSOD, I did everything I knew of to fix it. The problems snowballed quickly to the point my system would crash after only a few minutes. I could not run a full virus scan, it would not allow me to do a clean install of windows, or use the backup I had on my external HD. A bit panicked that my data on both my computer and my external HD were ruined, I found Arlington Virginia Computer Repair. Seeing how many positive reviews they had, I contacted them once. Alexander responded to my email quickly, was very patient with me, and clearly knowledgeable about his craft - I scheduled an appointment for the next day. He sat down with me and walked me through a very thorough consultation. It was hard not to be impressed, and comforted, when he asked all the right questions, took extensive notes, and answered everything I could throw at him. My custom-build desktop was in good hands. Turns out I had a nasty virus that compromised windows, malware on the external HD, and two bad memory modules. He removed all traces of infection, saved ALL my data on both my PC and my external HD, and kept me up to date throughout the entire process. Right now I am running my system and it is functioning better than it has in a long time - and it's still short two memory modules. That's pretty amazing. I cannot wait to see how it flies once I install new RAM I ordered. Thank you Arlington Virginia Computer Repair! read more

Recently, I discovered I couldn't access (or even see) any of the files I'd backed up to my Seagate 3TB GoFlex Home Network Drive. As it was under warranty, I worked with Seagate for several weeks attempting to resolve the issue to the point of them replacing the connector base of the drive...still unable to access the data. Seagate then said it could attempt recovery of the drive contents and gave me a ballpark figure of $850-$1800 for their "clean-room recovery process". Instead I sought out a more local option and found Alexander at Arlington Computer Repair. Alexander explained what he thought might be the probable cause and discussed options for the drive. I asked that he attempt to recover what he could. Received a call within 3 days of drop-off stating he'd been able to get 99% of the data from the drive. It had several bad sectors among other issues. BTW...it was at a fraction of the cost Seagate estimated and included the data copied to a new hard drive. Even though I drove from Warrenton to Arlington, and the place of business is a bit "off the beaten path", I definitely made the right choice with ACR. At drop-off Alex clearly explained all options available and then too at pick-up, he explained all actions taken to recover my files. He is very professional and clearly an expert in his field. Would most certainly use ACR again if I'm faced with another IT issue I can't resolve. ACR saved me both time and money...I highly recommend this company. read more

I decided to come here based on reviews on yelp. Unfortunately, I did not check around for prices until after I paid my diagnostic fee . I thought the recovery fee I was quoted was a little high and decided to check around for prices. I was able to recovery my data at a better rate in the area without even paying up front the diagnostic fee. I did like how I was kept up to date with the progress of the diagnostic. read more

We just completed a service on our computer that needed the operating system reinstalled. Alexander also optimized the computer by updating drivers and put on a better anti virus program. He also found some malware. I was nervous about handing over my computer which essentially has my life's data on there, but after the initial visit I was completely at ease. Alexander is so knowledgeable and professional. The home-based business is a marvel. Many big box stores could take a lesson from his professionalism, efficiently, and honesty. I will recommend him to my family and friends with complete confidence. I'm so glad we found this business! Thank you previous Yelp reviewers. read more

My husband and I have used this service twice, and both times we couldn't be happier with the results. I'm a total computer idiot, and they treated me with nothing but professionalism, respect and friendliness. My computer runs great now and I would/will recommend this place to everyone I know. read more

My external WD USB drive more or less "melted" with all of my photos, videos, data backups, etc. The power adapter has failed and melted the DC power adapter in the back of the drive. I thought all was lost. I drove the dead driver to AVCR and spoke with Alexander. He thought he could get the drive running and recover my files. Within two days, I got word that he was successful and he was able to transfer every file off the drive to my Dropbox folder. Success! Many thanks to Alex and the professional excellence of the work possible with AVCR! read more

I was referred to this company by a friend when I thought all hope was lost, and I mean literally lost. I'm a photographer and had 4 weddings and 1 engagement session that I had not yet completed for the year and my external hard drive completely crashed. I was able to schedule an appointment immediately and while I had them expedite the request the cost was not even close to what some of the companies in California or even a larger company here in Virginia were going to charge me. They carefully walked me through the process, and even when I was emailing more than once a day for status - he responded immediately. Amazing customer service and just an overall wonderful experience. I can now deliver wedding and engagement photos to my customers and have happy clients! THANK YOU!!!!!! read more

Handled our iMac computer repair quickly, professionally and effectively. Nice people! Highly recommend!

AVCR was responsive and helpful. They saved my data from a failing hard drive and helped me pick out a new of to use in the future. Great customer service means a lot to me. Five stars for AVCR. read more

Short and sweet - I can see why this place has so many 5 star reviews. So refreshing to deal with someone who is honest and has the customers best interest in mind. No hard sell here, kind feedback, honest information, and the sale is secondary. In fact, thanks to the owner - we ended up fixing our issue ourselves and didn't spend a dime but I can assure you that we will be going back for life now whenever we need work and will be sharing our experience far and wide. My laptop's hard drive failed and I brought it to Alexander based on the overwhelmingly positive yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. Every aspect of my experience with Alexander was handled with care and attention (and speed). I brought my computer to him on a Monday, and he recovered 100% of the damaged hard drive's files, installed OSX and a new hard drive, and cleaned the dust out of my computer in two days! I can't say enough good things about his business and we should consider ourselves lucky to have businesses like his in the community. read more

This business has such a supply of good reviews, I almost don't need to add one, but my experience was so good, it would be wrong not to chime in. This place is the whole package: Alexander was kind, responsive, professional, reasonably priced, and completely effective. I'd hoped he could rescue the files off the hard drive in my dead laptop, and he saved them ALL, with a very quick turnaround, and he couldn't have been nicer. He always returned emails promptly, and never made me feel like an idiot! I echo other comments-- don't think twice about it being a home-based business. It's top-notch, trustworthy service, with a smile! read more

After reading the other reviews on Yelp, I brought in my less-than-two-year-old HP laptop, which had a dying display screen. Brought the laptop in on Friday afternoon. Alex installed a new display and had it available by noon on Monday. Excellent professional, polite and prompt service. Appts only but that simply makes the service that much more timely and efficient. Would definitely use them again. read more

I contacted Alex for data recovery. Great service. Fast, efficient, serious and very kind. Highly reccomendable.

One of the best services I have ever worked with, in any industry. The girl on the phone was super helpful in walking me through the decision of if I even needed to bring my computer in. She wasn't trying to push services, either, and just talked me through ideas to try. My computer did need expert help so I took it in. Alex was highly professional. they found my problem and then I sent the defective part back to the manufacturer myself. read more

Our 3 year old desktop would not boot up properly and kept doing data dumps. We took the computer to AVCR based on the positive Yelp reviews, and they lived up to their reputation! Thoroughly professional, kept us informed every step of the way during the speedy repair process. We would not hesitate to use AVCR in the future. read more

If you are looking for good quality service for your Mac or pc, I highly recommend This company. They have worked on two of my Mac's and I'm extremely satisfied. The price was much better than the Apple store. When you have a problem, or like me a harddrive crash -- go here! read more

I cannot recommend AVCR highly enough - my hard drive crashed last week, and I was in a panic. Alexander contacted me immediately (on the weekend and despite my call being outside normal business hours!), and set up an appointment first thing. He kept in constant contact during the major snowstorm, and went to great pains to reschedule according to my calendar. He provided a thorough estimate, clearly explained the work he would complete, and provided affordable options to get my laptop working. I was in a quandary about whether to recover data, and he recommended a more inexpensive option so I could repair the computer immediately and recover data later. He emailed updates, and had the computer ready in a flash. I'm relieved, and impressed. I highly recommend and would absolutely return. read more

Echoing the praise. Worth the drive from DC. Below estimate and my computer is running quick as lightning.

Right before Christmas my hard drive crashed. The people at the Apple store told me that there was nothing that they could do to retrieve my data. My music archive, my photos, all of the documents from my Master's degree gone in a flash. (Of course I didn't have an external hard drive... that would make too much sense!) I was heartbroken and in a fit of rage for a good week. After doing some online research and being quoted upwards of $2000 to 'attempt' retrieve my data, I wound up stumbling upon Arlington Virginia Computer Repair. Who would have thought that they were able to retrieve ALL of my information?! They're heaven sent, and I am eternally grateful for them! Oh! And not to mention their prices are amazing. read more

Arlington Virginia Computer Repair was relentlessly diligent in its diagnosis and repair of our desktop computer. AVCR identified problems that escaped the notice of both a publicly-traded computer repair company AND the manufacturer. During the course of the repair work, the manufacturer twice insisted that the computer be sent to its repair facility so that its technicians could address the situations. Each time the computer was returned, we brought it to AVCR to test. Throughout the process AVCR was unfailing in its professionalism, competence, and superb customer service. Don't waste your time going to any other place. read more

This is the 2nd time I have taken my computer here--for 2 totally unrelated issues! Both times I met with Alex, the owner. Very pleasant & extremely knowledgeable. I have also spoken to Thomas a few times on the phone & he too, is very professional. Both times the issues with my laptop were quite serious & yet--each time, I received my laptop back in perfect working conditions. Great turnaround with the repairs & very reasonable with the fees for service. While I certainly hope I don't have anymore computer problems for a long time--I would certainly go back there if needed & would highly recommend them! read more

Just wanted to give a "shout out "and big "Ups" to Alex at Arlington Computer Repair. I had a portable hard drive that stopped working. For starters, there was a bad connection with the mini-usb port among other things wrong with the drive I later found out. It should be noted, this portable drive was manufactured NOT to easily come apart and be serviceable. Well, Alex did his thing and 20+ GB and 27K files later, I am good to go. In modest surroundings, a job well done. So glad I found this business and right here in Arlington! read more
