I have rented vehicles from Enterprise for years, regularly and consistently, for business travel across the country. Because of that, this experience was especially surprising and deeply disappointing. I am very familiar with how Enterprise typically operates and this location fell far below that standard. The only difference this time was that the rental was through insurance, and I was treated accordingly. I rented a vehicle from this location on Friday through my insurance company. I called ahead to let them know I would be arriving later than originally planned and was given a confirmed pickup time of 1:30 PM. I arrived at 1:19 PM, within that window, and was told my reserved vehicle had already been given to someone else. I was then told I had been called about this, which was untrue. No call was made. Rather than being offered a comparable replacement to my insured vehicle--a 2018 Chevy Equinox I was only offered two options: an electric vehicle or a Honda Civic. Neither is equivalent to the SUV my insurance was paying for. This was despite there being other comparable vehicles visibly available on the lot. The electric vehicle I was handed smelled strongly of smoke and was poorly cleaned. I was told it had only 30 miles of charge and would require eight hours to recharge, yet no instructions were provided. Once driving, it became immediately clear that the remaining charge equated to about 27 minutes of drive time, which was not enough to reach my mechanic and return home. The vehicle would have stalled somewhere on the road, leaving me stranded with no knowledge of how to recharge it. This created a serious safety issue, as I am responsible for transporting my son, sister, and mother. Being sent off in an undercharged electric vehicle with no guidance was not just inconvenient it was dangerous. When I returned the vehicle immediately upon realizing this, I was then offered a Honda Civic, again not equivalent. No apology was offered for the misinformation, the lack of preparation, or the fact that I watched an equivalent vehicle being rented to someone else during this interaction. No solutions were provided. I canceled the insurance rental at this location. However, the branch failed to properly close out the rental. Had I not personally contacted my insurance adjuster twice to create a documented timestamp, it would have appeared as though I had rented a vehicle when I did not. As a long-time Enterprise customer who rents frequently for business, this experience was shocking. I will never return to this location, and I strongly recommend that anyone renting under insurance avoid this branch entirely. read more

My experience at the Enterprise location at 2301 Bladensburg Road, NE this morning was extremely disappointing. I reserved a compact vehicle the night before and informed the representative that I would arrive at 7:30 a.m. when the branch opened. At the time of the reservation, there was no indication that this would present any issues. Upon arrival, however, I was informed by the Enterprise representative, Mr. Danny Calder, that no compact cars were available and that only a Jeep remained on the lot. Although I was told I could take the Jeep at the same rate, I expressed concern regarding the comfort and practicality of driving a much larger vehicle. I also explained that if I was not comfortable with the Jeep, I would return to exchange it for the compact car I originally reserved. Throughout the interaction, Mr. Calder was noticeably nonchalant, impatient, and unprofessional. When I inquired about the 15% discount for rentals over three days--something I was instructed to request when making the reservation--he stated that he would need to cancel and rebook my reservation because it was "booked online." I clarified that I had spoken directly with a representative the night before and had not booked anything online. When he requested my ID and insurance, he handled the documents in a manner that appeared hesitant and uncomfortable, which further contributed to the unprofessional tone. I also asked about the federal government discount that I have consistently received in the past. He initially stated that they "don't do that," which is incorrect, and only applied a 5% discount after I presented my federal government ID badge.Despite having a reservation for an early pickup, I still had to wait for the Jeep to be cleaned, causing additional delays. This undermines the purpose of reserving a vehicle in advance to ensure a timely and efficient pickup. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism, the failure to honor my reservation, the inadequate discount, and the overall customer service I received. Additionally, Mr. Calder did not assist with adjusting the seat or demonstrating basic vehicle functions--assistance that the Pentagon Police ultimately provided when I arrived at work. These are tasks that should have been addressed at the time of pickup but were not. This experience could have been handled far more effectively, and this location has significant room for improvement. read more

I rented a car at this location in September 2024, for 4 days. My original plan was to rent a mid-size car; however, the gentleman gave me a free upgrade. Customer service was terrible. NEVER AGAIN. I reserved a car, and came to pick-up only to hear that they have no cars. I inquired why would you ask for reservations when you have no cars or hold them for folks who are proactive and reserve? They said more cars would come later and I would receive a call. I did not. I live in proximity, so I stopped by again - they again said they "may have" cars being returned and they would let me know within the hour. THEY DIDN'T!! All they had to do was tell me up-front that they are running short of cars and doubtful if they would get any. Place was super sketchy. Scheduled an appointment at noon only to show up to a locked gate. Some crackhead looking guy runs up and yells that they are closed. When I explained I was here for a 12 o clock pick-up he loosely jestered like Igor leading me to Dr. Frankenstein to talk to the manager. So I naturally went to the office and then he screamed "do not go in there" like he was Ace Ventura coming out of a bathroom Gala. I asked him to show me where the manager was and he led me like I'm about to make a shady deal with the mafia. Finally when I arrived at the manager she repeats "we close at noon and there are no more cars"... to which I repeat "I made a reservation at noon for a rental car." We repeat the same statement back and forth for 5 min until we both stop and blankly stare at each other. In the end she won and I left with no car. Should have know it was shady from the parked police car in front. Called enterprise to figure something out and all locations were closed and booked basically told me I'm screwed and good luck. Received horrible lack of service here. Our arrival was delayed due to heavy storms in the area and misleading signs as to where Enterprise was located in the Union Station garage. Although we arrived shortly after close, the 6 agents (clearly with their system still running) sitting in the booth laughed at us in distress and would not honor our reservation. Future reference please use clearly labeled signs as to where you are located in the garage and hire employees who actually care about servicing your customers. read more

My car was stolen in January and my insurance set me up with a rental at this location. My car was eventually recovered but spent more weeks in the shop which meant I needed to extend my rental and my insurance would not be covering it beyond that point either. Kiree and Bailey were extremely helpful, accommodating and attentive to my needs through the whole ordeal and really made me feel taken care of through a very difficult situation and I'll be forever grateful for their dedication to good customer service. read more

Had a rental for a month bc someone hit my car and it needed to be repaired. Car came with a bunch of dings & scratches and was hastily "cleaned" so there was mud inside the trunk, dirty interior, and someone's old, dirty satchel left in the back (so much for covid protocols). Didn't bother to take it back to clean bc I was busy. Dropped the car off and they said the tank was full. I filled it the evening before and went straight home so it should be. Later, saw a charge on my card for $4.35. Called to see what it was and it was bc of gas. They said it was missing 1 gallon! The level of petty and bad faith business. Why tell me it was full to charge me later and say NOTHING to me? There's a gas station across the street. I could've taken it there and paid over a dollar less, if ONE, MEASLY gallon meant that much to you- and it was likely less than that. How do I know it wasn't missing 1 or 2 gallons when I received it? You all were so busy when it was dropped off, you didn't even clean the car properly. Doubt you had time to completely fill the tank. Not okay, enterprise. If they're doing this to one, they're likely doing it to all. That's a lot of money over time & volume. I would rent somewhere else, borrow a friend's car, take public transport, Lyft, etc. I don't support shady businesses. read more

The vehicle I received from this location smelled so badly of smoke. It was so offensive. They should charge those who smoke in vehicles and reserve those cars only for smokers. This review is a long time coming. I have been so busy and have also had a few health issues. I rented a car from your 10th St. NE location in DC. There was a second attempt on the theft of my car within 3 months. The customer service that I received was on point. The date I needed for my car pickup was appreciated and the level of professionalism at this location was beyond great!!!! I was so excited to see Lauryn Hillard at this location. She was so helpful to me the last time I went through this ordeal. At that time, she was located at your Takoma Park location. Lauryn is amazing. She is customer service oriented, very professional, kind, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to be helpful. All of the employees I interacted with, from the young lady who handled my reimbursement that I received almost immediately, she's super awesome. The young man who escorted me to my car -- everyone was amazing. I am a senior and walk with a cane. They were so kind and compassionate and helpful to this senior lady. Sam Perry is dick. I am very disappointed at the customer service he provided. As an assistant manager he should be a stellar representative of customer service. Instead he sent my girlfriend crying in tears. This is unbecoming. I have family members who worked for enterprise and they where displeased. I am following a claim with his regional as well. No one should be put though such an experience especially a paying customer. He was rude, made frivolous claims and passive aggressive. Every single time that I have attempted to utilize Enterprise which has only been three times. I have found myself thoroughly disappointed with the service , with the cleanliness of the vehicle , and even the quality of the vehicle. The only reason I am using them this time is because of an insurance claim had I known they would have been using Enterprise I would have declined . This is the second time I've gotten a vehicle from them with spit splattered across the windshield as if the driver had been sneezing . The outside is covered in yellow bird crap spots dirty as heck with lots of scratches . They weren't prepared for my arrival and had to go and get some last-minute cars and didn't even have the decency to clean it then I'm told because of the vehicle complications that I'm having on the road that they will change the vehicle out at 4:00 p.m. even though they close at 5:00 p.m. so you have a 1 hour window at the end of the day which hopefully you're not working like I am and don't return back to my side of town until 7:30 p.m. at the earliest. It's terribly inconvenient, terribly unprofessional, and terribly disorganized . Let me also add there's always the air of not wanting to take responsibility when issues are brought before them. Overall this is not an experience I would wish on anyone. They need to be some accountability and they'll never have to worry about me coming back not even on accident read more

I arrived at 520 PM for my 500 PM rental and was turned away despite 3 staff persons being on-site. I was told they close promptly at 500 PM (their door says 6 PM), which is curious considering they allow for 500 PM rentals. This is just bad, customer-is-wrong, business. On the date of my reservation things were hectic for me. I work less than 5 mins away and they had about 8 other people waiting. JESUS! One of which was there waiting bfore I got there and he was there after I left. What a patient soul. I waited about an hour and 15 mins for my 5 oclock reserved car. I think the rep could tell I was visibility upset as I stood in the middle of the floor. He did not offer any incentives but did opt to have my car cleaned but I was already 45mins late for work and had to hurry. I did not have another 30 mins for that. There were about 3-4 people working that afternoon. Some asking about the lot and inventory and process of a trade-in. There was a very quick verification process of getting a copy of my ID, payment, back up phone numbers incase I try to take the car on the run LOL. The good thing is I had already read the terms of agreement BEFORE I got there. How come the car isn't cleaned upon return? That would certainly speed things up. I say that because I noticed others before me were waiting for theirs. My ride had paper towels in every possible compartment, Bird poop and candy wrappers. The driver side door of my car feels like it's a little off the hinge so to speak and I was made aware of all known imperfections of the car. I didn't know what car I would get and don't usually drive teeny little smart cars so it was up to me to figure out all the bells and whistles when pulling off the lot. I don't know how other locations are because this was my first time.There should be a kiosk of FAQ's, inventory with special features of the car(s) and rental terms and agreement similar to the online website and app for people who walk in off the street because they certainly hold up the line.. On busy days this will certainly cut down time for customers who need to get in and out. Also, add the ease of stress for staff running around like chickens to greet customers, run out side to inspect dropped off cars, process a return, check in, ask the guy to wash car, run back inside to take payment from the next customer and keep a smile on their faces while doing so. For me,that was certainly displeasing as my time and money were on the line. read more

There's no way to express how horrible of an experience I had at this location. I was in a car accident after being rear ended by a tractor trailer. I spent the night in the emergency room, and after speaking with my insurance company, I left directly from the hospital to go to Enterprise and pick up a rental vehicle the next morning. When I was placed in a vehicle, one of the associates at this location, Kiki (I'm unsure of the spelling of her name) informed me that my coverage with my insurance did not cover me being insured in the rental vehicle and that I would have to pay an extra fee to get insurance coverage through enterprise. Kiki specifically told me that if I opted out of getting the insurance through Enterprise, I would be driving uninsured and would be fully responsible for all costs if I were to get into an accident, regardless of if I was at fault or not. Based on what Kiki told me, I of course opted in for the insurance out of fear that I'd be driving uninsured without it, and would therefore bare any costs if something were to happen while in possession of the rental vehicle. Recently, the paralegal for my case called me and notified me that the other person's insurance would be reimbursing me for the personal cost of my rental (my insurance only covered 80% of the rental for the time I had it), however they wouldn't cover the cost of the insurance because it was optional. I explained to my paralegal that the insurance was not truly optional, because without it I'd be driving uninsured. She told me that typically coverage includes insurance for a rental, and advised that I follow-up with my insurance company. I called my insurance shortly after, and they confirmed that my coverage would have in fact covered my rental, despite the fact that I was told otherwise. The insurance rep I was working with told me he had ran across this issue before, and that a previous client had been falsely told by Enterprise that they'd be driving uninsured without Enterprise's insurance policy as well. He then called the Enterprise Catholic U location in an attempt to get them to refund me for that extra expense, given I only purchased the insurance based on the incorrect information I was given from an Enterprise employee. He ended up bringing me into a three-way call with him and Nathaniel (Nate) Tessema, who explained that he was the manager on duty. Instantly, Nate had a very condescending tone towards me. He essentially told me that it was my fault because I should have known what my coverage was and that he would not reimburse me for that expense. I explained to him that not only was this my first time being in a car accident, but this was also my first time ever renting a car and I was unaware of what's typically covered. Functioning off of no sleep and having just came from the hospital, I trusted the information given to me by Kiki as her expertise in this field clearly outweighs my own. He proceeded to be rude and condescending towards both me and the State Farm rep I was working with, and made it clear he had no intention of helping me. This past year and a half has been stressful for everyone given COVID, and having just recently been in a serious car accident - it's disheartening that the employees in this branch have lacked compassion and empathy in dealing with customers. It was never my intention to try to get anyone in trouble, however the blatant disrespect and lack of accountability is concerning. I was pressured into purchasing additional insurance coverage based on false information an employee at Enterprise told me, and instead of attempting to right this wrong, Nate placed the blame on me. I have a friend that used to work at Enterprise that told me Enterprise employees receive incentives/commission for getting customers to purchase their insurance plan and that he often saw employees abuse this by pressuring/lying to customers to get them to purchase this extra insurance. Knowing this, I now understand why not only the associate at this branch lied to me, but the manager Nate failed to take accountability and deflected blame, because obviously this is something he condones in an attempt at earning extra incentives and getting promoted. I am absolutely disgusted with my experience and will never work with Enterprise again. read more

They did not explain the costs and when we tried to drop off 2 days after using the vehicle, they told us we'd already been charged an additional day because it was after noon? Brought the car back the FOLLOWING day and because the tank wasn't filled to the right marker, we were charged an additional $18 (it was JUST below the line it needed to be filled to). I feel that their customer service has turned a corner since I originally reviewed them in 2014. (They do still ask for invasive details about your job, but are nicer about it now.) But be wary when renting around the holidays; they were moving cars too quickly and gave us a succession of vehicles with problems: major scrapes on the driver's side windshield, grody tobacco in the cup holders, mid-level gas tanks, and a slow-leaking tire. They were amenable to swapping each car and grew more apologetic each time, and offered to comp us a few days of the rental. It is taking more hoop-jumping than it should to get the actual refund. But overall it was a good and reasonable response from Enterprise CUA. read more

I booked my appointment on the way to this Enterprise location, and they were very accommodating to get me a car. Everything was processed quickly once I arrived as well. I'm docking one star because the rental car I received on Friday afternoon broke down on Monday morning right before a pretty important event I had to go to. But four stars because they stayed calm and IMMEDIATELY drove a new car to me, helped reload the car with my things for the event, and sent me on my way while they dealt with towing the car. I was on my way within 25 minutes of the car breaking down, and I got to the event on time. Thank you for great customer service, Enterprise! read more

DO NOT rent from this branch of Enterprise. I arrived at 11:15 a.m. for my 11:30 a.m. reservation. After waiting 15 minutes to be processed, I was told that my car was not ready. I was finally able to drive away in the rental car at 12:10 a.m. 55 minutes to pick up a rental! I have rented several times at this branch and the rental cars are rarely ready. There is a systematic problem, whether bad organization or inadequate staff. My recommendation os to rent from a different branch of Enterprise. It will be worth your time. read more

When I arrived I was greeted by a nice guy. He then advised his coworker to assist me. The lady didn't say hi , good morning, what's up...nothing; all I got was "can I have your license". Disregarding her lack of manners, I honored her request. I asked about the refuel option which I later concluded it would be cheaper to fill the car up myself. She showed me the car I was renting and that went smooth. My first van was damaged when a rock from a weed eater broke the side window out, Isaac had me in a different vehicle in a flash. After turning in the van, I thought I had left my EZ Pass in the van,found it later, but Isaac checked the van for it and called me right back! Isaac was professional, knowledgeable and had a awesome friendly personality. Enterprise is a great company because of the great people like Isaac they hire, very impressed when a young person gives you outstanding customer service! To get the rental was a headache. Once I received it and turned it in 2/24 I have yet to receive my deposit back. This is crazy yet I received an voicemail threating me that if I didn't turn in paperwork (that they fell to mention in the beginning) they would charge my card. I have been told by Shannon a million times I will get on that today. Yet keep receiving calls from Juan that they still need my paperwork. Once this is done I will never go through an Enterprise again. The worst customer service ever and I never got an apology. I've been calling since 10 am today and haven't spoken with anyone. I love Enterprise!!! I've been using them for almost 9 years now and wouldn't think about switching, and this location is one reason why. This was my first time using them because they allowed the weekend rate but the customer service and patience is what I loved. They greeted me with a smile and informed me that there was a slight wait and asked if I would be willing to wait. I was early anyways but the wait was only about 6 minutes and they went through 2-3 customers and callers at the same time. Very personable staff and talkative and (seemingly) caring staff. The only reason I wouldn't come back is if they stopped allowing the weekend rate because the regular rate is, unfortunately, a little higher than I would like to pay!!! read more

Understaffed and you are forced to wait forever! Don't go here unless you have the entire day to spend. I had to ask for insurance and everything instead of it being offered. I should have asked to drop it off it anther location because drop off took over 40 mins then I gave up and left the keys and had to return later for the receipt. I've rented from several Enterprise locations in DC. The 10th Street NE location is by far superior in customer service. My experiences at this location have always been smooth. The processing time to pick up/ drop off is no more than 5-10 minutes. The manager and staff are accommodating, personable and understand the value of quality customer service. read more
