Rental agent Tricia waited on me and was thoroughly professional and very personable. What a breath of fresh air. I was impressed. It is absolutely wonderful to receive this kind of attention and service in the present business climate. Obviously I had a choice when making my selection for a rental car, talking on the phone to Tricia was the deciding factor for me going with Plattsburg. I have worked in customer service in the past, and excellent customer service definitely is the to happy customers. Happy customers should be the goal of every business, of course. But some businesses seem to have forgotten this. I commend and praise Agent Tricia for her sincere attention to my needs at the time and her impeccable customer service. More companies need to have reps like her. I will always rent Avis in Plattsburg Thanks so much!

Pick up and drop off was uneventful but there was no one available to go over the vehicle upon its return so checked out at inside airport kiosk. In November, received a letter in the mail stating I owed $315 and was no longer allowed to rent from them until I paid the balance due (no explanation of charge was included in the letter) and was sent to their collections department. I called customer service and was told it was a smoking fee even though no one in the car is a smoker and that I was disputing the charge. (I was also told the charge for that was $250). I called their collections department next and was told I owed $315 but couldn't explain what the charge was for. I spoke with several representatives and was asked to send a copy of my credit card statement showing the charge, which was done immediately. I emailed and called the rep back that was handling my case but received no response. Contacted his supervisor who told me that we no longer owed the $315 and I requested a follow up email stating this fact in case they tried to collect this fee in the future. Never did find out exactly what the $315 charge was for but I told them that for future rentals, I would be booking elsewhere since I didn't want to go through this hassle in the future. I also contacted Avis corporate but never received a call back from them.

I had a flight from the airport back to Florida, and picked up a rental car there earlier in the week. I will start with the not so great stuff. Since this airport is so tiny, the counters really aren't staffed. At the time there was one employee working the Avis and Budget counter, and when I arrived he was no where to be found. To be fair I was just picking up and not coming off a flight, so they are probably more diligent about being at the counter when they have a flight coming in, but still my reservation had my pickup time. To remedy this staff situation there was a sign to call the employees cell phone to let them know you need service. I called and there was no answer. I waited a few more minutes and called again. This time the employee picked up and informed me that he was in the lot finishing cleaning out a car and would be in in about ten minutes. I figured maybe he was cleaning the car I was about to rent. After spending about 15-20 minutes waiting around for someone to help me at the counter things went much more smoothly. The employee arrived and set me up with the car. He was kind enough to offer me an upgrade and I ended up with a hybrid Ford C-max, which I was happy with as a had a decent amount of driving to do, so the gas mileage was a plus. He didn't pressure me into insurance I didn't need and even offered me a homemade Christmas cookie before I was on my way. I had the car for a few days, and it was a great car at a very reasonable price. The counter was closed when I dropped the car off, but there is a key drop box. I had reserved and prepaid online about a month before my trip (make sure to google for coupon codes), and I was happy to find that there were no additional charges made to my credit card after the car was returned, although I was never emailed a receipt (maybe it ended up in my junk mail.) If you aren't coming in off a flight come in expecting to be a little patient, because the airport is so small, and therefore staffing is pretty bare bones, but overall I was happy with my experience, the price, and the car, so I would rent here again.

If you allow third parties (carrentals.com) to build your business you can't then ALSO say they are unreliable. Budget is great, forget this location.

Upon returning my car in Philadelphia, they were not able to give me a receipt because they said that Plattsburgh international needed to close out my contract however no one was available at 5:30 PM even though their hours were from 8 AM to 8 PM. I called for three days in a row to try to obtain a receipt from Plattsburgh Hertz location. I was unable to get closure of my contract from a customer reservations representative named Melissa who told me three different reasons in one phone conversation. They range from 1) I do not work for hertz, 2)I work for them but I'm unable to get in the system 3)my manager called out sick today if she calls out sick tomorrow again I cannot help you. She failed to listen to my explanation and told me to call corporate. Upon calling corporate, their response was Plattsburgh hertz needs to close this contract out as it is still open three days after returning the car. The corporate customer service gentleman did say he will leave an email message for the Plattsburgh manager. We will see what this amounts to.

We were stranded. Expedia's customer service representative had no answers and suggested we take care of it. We found Budget Car Rental open. We had to pay $500+ over the quoted Expedia National contract. We complained using the correct documentation. Expedia did nothing to obtain a reimbursement. We will contract the NY State Attorney.

First my husband called and told them we wanted to rent a floor sander and that I would be there in…read morethe hour and would need assistance loading it into the vehicle. When I got there they hadn't written anything down and charged me almost 200 dollars more than they quoted him. They told me if I had the sander back by noon two days later I would get about 150 back. It took me almost 20 minutes of waiting by my car with the sander to get the assistance I needed to load the sander. When my husband used the sander it would not turn off unless you unplugged it. When I returned the sander two days later it took almost half an hour for someone to assist me with anything which made the sander 5 minutes late they didn't check it in till 1205 although I was there at 1130. Then they didn't refund me anything on the sander and gave me half of what I paid for the sand paper I didn't use sand paper that they told me I needed to purchase and that they said they would give me a full refund on unused sheets of. They are incompetent and con artist i advise you to seek an alternative business if possible and to record everything that they say to you during any agreement

As another Yelper mentioned, it is very difficult to find communicative and responsive vendors in the Northern NY region, and Jenna at Taylor Rental does an incredible job. I live in Northern California, but my wife and I wanted to do our wedding back where we grew up, in the Adirondacks. We rented a large lodge on Fern Lake to host the wedding ceremony and reception at, and had a 44x83 Tidewater tent installed on the yard. I highly recommend the Tidewater over the standard pole tent if you have the option, it has an incredible look, and all of our guests had great things to say about it. The Taylor Rental crew came out on Thursday 9/4 to install the tent and drop off all other rental items. We rented a ton of items including tent, tables, linens, chairs, wine glasses, serving items, warming box, keg coolers, etc. Taylor Rental was excellent on getting everything to us except one linen was the wrong length, so they sent someone out later that day to drop it off for us. There wasn't a single stain on the bright white linens, and every other item was clean right down to the tables and chairs. Not only is Taylor Rentals service excellent, all of their rental items are new and in great condition. I would recommend Taylor Rental for any occasion! Especially since you can get any other supplies needed on the hardware/equipment side. Through the planning process Jenna was excellent with helping on all of my requests and needs, in fact we probably changed the reservation 15 times! She had a hand in making my wife's dream wedding a reality, thanks again!
