I had to write a review about the amazing experience I had at the Kanata Budget Rent a Car location…read morein Kanata on Edgewater street. The story began when my UHaul reservation was completely changed without my consent a day and a half prior to my move from Mtl to Ottawa. I was so upset with UHaul service I decided to see if I could find another truck with another renter, this is where I had an amazing experience with Othniel from the Kanata Budget location. He went out of his way to find me a truck last minute, at a good price and guaranteed he would finalize everything before the end of the day, which he did! He found me exactly what I wanted and made the entire experience so pleasant, I can't say enough nice things about Othniel and the service he provided. He is an exceptional employee and I hope his employers know this and keep him at Budget as long as possible. He knows how to treat customers!! Thank you again Othniel!

I asked Priceline for a car rental place near my hotel. I trusted Priceline, which was a mistake, and took a rental from a Hertz at 1478 Merivale. I requested an SUV with a toddler seat near my hotel to pick up a friend and his family. Instead, I got to go on a 20 minute ($45) taxi ride to the car-rental place. And then, when we got there....it didn't exist! So I had to call Hertz - international rates, of course - which informed me the Hertz was at 1916 Merivale. David, the man who worked at Hertz, was sympathetic to my plight, but there was still nothing he could do about what happened or the fact that there were no toddler seats to be had. Still. David let me keep the SUV until the next morning and drop it off at a different location -- no additional charge. And then, days after I got back home, I received a receipt in the mail from Hertz. They had taken $45 off my car rental fee -- when it wasn't even their fault. And I didn't even have to complain. So that's why I give Hertz five stars. I'll always rent from them in the future. David was a real pro, and a very nice guy. Priceline, however, still sucks.

Do not recommend…read more.. I was contacted about someone interested in my car to find out later on it was a lie. I signed paperwork for a new car before I knew all of this. I then noticed the car was still on the market and not yet taken off. I asked about it to be told it must have been an accident and will be fixed... (it never got taken down.) I was told my new car would be ready Wednesday or Thursday (about a week after my first appointment) to find out when I contacted them the Friday as I had yet to hear from them that it was not ready yet but should be soon. I contacted them a week later to be told it was still not ready. I went to them that weekend and asked for my old car paperwork and to shred the new paperwork for the new car. When they went to look for my papers it took them over 15 minutes to locate where my papers were after having almost everyone in the building running around for them. I have also yet to receive my $32 for my license exchange. This was all back in the beginning of December 2020. So like I said don't suggest going.

Made an account solely for this review…read more Predatory, unhelpful, dishonest, shady, and careless. Purchased a Buick Enclave in 2022. The AC didn't work at purchase so they "fixed it". Three months later the entire AC was shot and would run me $2,500 to fix. On top of that, the check engine light came in shortly after purchase. Along with that the Stabilitrak turned off, the traction control stopped working, and the timing chain in the engine had to be replaced.. another $6,800. I figured their shop would take care of it - and they said they would. I wasn't aware that keeping it at the shop for 3 months and not moving it an inch from where I dropped it off was what they considered taking care of it. Their excuse? EVERYONE was on vacation. That is not how any business, especially vehicle repair, should function. Now, the car is showing - and I had no idea this was even possible - an "Engine Power Reduced Notification". 4000RPMS, 30km/hr. The engine stalled shortly after. This is an automatic car. Didn't even know that was possible. So, I figured I'd see if they could help me at all. Their sales manager said there was nothing that could be done on the piece of garbage they sold me. So now I have to pay off a lemon they sold me that I'm going to be scrapping in the coming days. They also have NO record of the sale of my vehicle?? I have the contract but they don't? Got it. That's not shady at all. Thanks Janex. You should be ashamed. If I could rate less than 1 Star I absolutely would. Waste of money, mental strength, and time. I wouldn't trust these guys to sell water in the desert, let alone any sort of vehicle that is semi-reliable at the very least.

This was during the rail line blockades by protesters opposing the Coastal GasLink pipeline, so anyone who was traveling by train (like us) was stranded. Car rental companies were busy, many locations had their entire fleet rented out, so we were thankful Billy Bishop had some cars left, but I am digressing from the review...). We had minimal interaction with the staff at this Ottawa airport location (which was the only location open late on a Sunday, so we had to return it there despite living nowhere near the airport and having to take a taxi home from there, oh wait I'm digressing again, lol), but overall we were very happy with our experience at National as a whole. As soon as we drove into the assigned parking spot for National, a representative approached us and greeted us. He scanned the barcode on the car, looked around for damage, checked the odometer, gas meter, etc. Told us everything was good, and emailed us confirmation of the return. Easy peasy. Signage for the car rental drop off was clear, and signage for where to drop off the vehicles for each car rental company was also clear. Although I would have rather taken the train like I had originally planned, I had a good experience with National both in Toronto and Ottawa. I would rent from them again, but hopefully next time it will be because National was my first choice, and not because I had to scramble at the last minute to find a way home because my original plans were derailed, so to speak.

On the return, the lady was extremely nice- she was hustling and actually running to get people checked in quickly. When she asked me how the rental was, I told her it was great but wished the car was bigger, and she offered me a free upgrade for my next rental- probably won't ever use it, but nice nonetheless! My only warning for this location, which has nothing to do with National- no gas anywhere near airport, plan ahead!
