Excellent customer service, great deal, and even came with a portable charger which came in very handy. Wonderful experience!

My friends and I went on a weekend trip using a rental car from this Enterprise. Two hours into the drive, the car broke down completely while we were still far out from our destination. Enterprise said they would send someone for us but left us waiting on the side of the road for FOUR hours without ever sending anyone. We eventually had a friend who was able to come pick us up and take us to our destination, but this ruined both our friend's and our vacation day. Enterprise agreed to send a car to our Airbnb, during this time but when we called back a few hours later they denied that promise. They tried to get us to DRIVE three hours to an airport to pick one up! But we had no car! The next morning, then they sent us an hour an a half to another airport to pick up a car, which we had to get a friend to drive me to, but then they HADN'T CALLED the airport and the airport had no cars for us! Our whole weekend away was basically up at this point, and they finally agreed to call us a Lyft to get us back home from my trip. But, they would only pay for HALF of the Lyft costs! Despite them being the reason we were stranded in the first place! This whole experience was frustrating and consumed our entire weekend away. They were consistently unhelpful, making us run in circles to fix the problem they created. Now we are down the cost of the Lyft and our friend had to drive several extra hours and put extra miles on his car to help us through this situation. This is unacceptable, and no business should treat customers this way. I will NEVER be using an Enterprise ever again. read more

My friend rented a car from this location for a weekend trip - never again. The car started going 15mph on the highway, so he had to pull over and call for help. They left him stranded for 3 hours, promised to send a car to his location, then DENIED ever having said so. The next morning they told him to go to an airport 1.5 hours away to pick up a new car but refused to pay for his travel there. When he arrived, there was NO CAR for him. This location offered to send him home on a Lyft but only paid for 50 miles of it and made him pay the rest! Absolutely unacceptable behavior. read more

I used Evanston Enterprise twice. First time everything went smoothly. The second time last year I rented a car for one day, picked it up Friday and dropped it off Saturday morning. I went to the office to check it back in, the agent took the key and she said I was all set. I then found out later I was charged until Monday. Yes 3 days charge for a 1 day rental. I called back a few times about it, but the charges were automatic and were never removed. Needless to say I haven't been back since. If I ever need a car rental now I use Turo. read more

I booked and reserved a standard size SUV for a road trip at this location. When I arrived and advised them of my reservation, the representative started checking the system while saying that they barely had any cars available and that they would see what they could do. After waiting for about 15 minutes, they offered me a pick up truck that smelled like marijuana. I ended up leaving with no vehicle and a delayed road trip. The customer service, inventory including communication at this location is terrible and nothing like I have ever seen. This is a downtown Evanston location and you would think they would be a little more organized. Please avoid them and don't waste your time! read more

Had my second bad experience with this enterprise location. The first was 4 years ago and the second one was a week ago. My wife reserved an XL SUV so we could drive my daughter to Vermont to move into her freshman dorm. I receive a text a couple of days before we were supposed to pick up the SUV saying that our reservation was confirmed. My wife and I arrived Friday the 16th to pick the XL SUV just like the confirmation text said to do and there was no XL SUV. Both employees there (should have gotten their names) said that they didn't have an XL SUV for us. They could not have cared less and had that"not my problem look on their face". They said that they had been calling us to prior day to try to reach us and let us know, but I work from home and did not receive a call in the home line or on my cellphone, which eggy sent a confirmation text to say the car would be ready on Friday the 16th. Horrible customer service. Stay away from this location and save yourself the headaches and inconvenience!!! read more

This Enterprise location really went above an beyond for me on my visit to Chicago, their customer service made my vacation better.

If I could give no stars, I would. I rented a truck on the website and received a call saying there were no trucks and they would not give me the equivalent sized SUV for the same price. Somehow, they found a smaller truck (at no discount) and said it would be ready at my scheduled pick up time. My ride dropped me off and, then, I sat there, walked around for an hour while they were putting a "rush job" on getting it ready. An hour and 15 minutes after being dropped off for my "ready" truck, I cancelled because there seemed to be no end to "getting it ready." I will take my business elsewhere. I highly recommend you do too. Horrible customer service, horrible lack of a rental experience, horrible communication. read more

Very disappointing. I gave 2 stars only because they did initially reach out to me after my insurance company contacted them for a car. I reserved a car however when I arrived they didn't have car I asked for and instead tried to give me an expedition which is way too big and a gas guzzler. I asked if I could reserve for next day and was told they didn't know what car would be available if any! I was unable to secure a car in advance so I just gave up and didn't rent a car at all! I should mention they did offer me an SUV but I had to pick it up right away or they couldn't guarantee it would be available. This is not the way to conduct business! It seems the customer is to accommodate them instead of the other way around. I did let my insurance company know of the poor service I received,,,,I just don't understand why I can't reserve a specific car in advance! read more

Had a horrible experience at this location. I had to get a rental due to an accident and went through insurance. The first location I visited off of Sheridan in Chicago changed the rate of the rental to what my insurance covered and I only had to pay the taxes, which was around $50 for a week. This location charged me 18+ dollars a day without explaining the cost of everything. I hadn't noticed at first since I was chatting with the lady who was checking me out, but the vehicle I rented out had an issue so I had to bring it back to get another rental. It was at that time I notice the charge of $147 after one week and asked why I was being charged that if I was going through insurance. They told me that insurance only covers 25 dollars a day and the vehicle they gave me was more than that. I didn't think to ask when I first got the rental because the Sheridan location had changed the rate since I was going through insurance. I wish someone had explained it to me and I would've just gotten a cheaper rental. I then talked to Andrew the manager asking for a refund on the rental, he was explaining that it would be hard to get his regional manager to agree and tried offering to not charge me for gas. Eventually he spoke to his manger and they agreed to refund me $50 for a good review. I asked for $60 and then gave them a good review and ended up only getting $32 dollars back from a charge of $189 after 1 week and 5 or so days. Andrew also told me he wasn't going to loose sleep over $60 dollars, which was very unprofessional and surprising since he was making it so hard to get a refund. Also, not something you should say to a customer who isnt in a great place financially. read more

How to begin. Well, July 4th week of 2017 and I needed a car to get out of town. I made a reservation online the night before. The next morning I was there bright and early. Later that day I would be on the road driving to Central Michigan. The associate which helped me with the rental could have been more information oriented and walked me through service offerings and the use of the car. He COULD HAVE. Maybe he was having a bad day.. or he's not cut out for working the front of the shop. Dude was lax and lazy about everything. No personality or care to explain anything. I've rented many cars before, sometimes with agents that were excited about my rental choice. In any case, I was in and out of there in less than 20 minutes. A few details I could have used. A copy of my lease agreement for the car. Any pertinent information about the options on or for the car. ie Toll tags? Satellite radio? At the very least he could have told me about toll tags and passed me his business card in case I ran into any issues. When dropping off the car he asked if I thought customer service was 5 stars across the board...... Although Nissan is not my first choice of car, I got a 2017 model. It got almost 602 miles to a full tank. Pretty bad ass. I rented at this location due to Enterprise having a low census of availability in Chicago. On my next trip I'll plan ahead and rent closer to home. read more

THE WORST!! My car was in the shop so I made a reservation to pick up a car at this location later the same day. An hour before pick-up, the agent calls to tell me that the car is no longer available but that she "might be able to give me a car sometime in the next 3 days". When I told her that I had a confirmed reservation, she said that I had made that through "corporate" and that they didn't know what cars were available at each location...as if they are different companies. Absolute worst customer service ever and they broke a written contract. I then called Hertz, reserved a car that was actually ready and waiting 45 minutes later AND the total cost for the same car was $100 less. Go Hertz! Enterprise, you're going to go out of business. read more

I tried reaching someone by phone at this location for an hour. Never got an answer. Then i called the main number and they couldn't reach them either. I needed to rent a car because my window was broken and I couldn't park mine around like that. I finally drove in and found one employee working alone. To top it off I needed to be picked up (bc I can't drive two cars back to leave mine at home). It's a servicbut there was no one to do it. They need to get this person on Sunday's some help! 2018 First, a compliment to the new associate, O'Shane (sorry if I've misspelled it). He was extremely personable, helpful and had a good sense of humor which to me is important in certain fields of customer service. He was bright and energetic and that has a way of being infectious to the customer. The car was fine. I wasn't looking for anything more than efficiency because my car was being repaired. I just needed it to get to/from work. So it got the job done. The return was easy enough and again the young man checking my return was nice. My only beef and this is with the companies that rent is the policy of renting cars with less than a full tank knowing that it's difficult to pump to the level you got it, so the customer fills it up. Enterprise gets one over on my dime. That's actually pretty dishonest and I'm going to argue for a credit every time. It would've been a five star review if Enterprise didn't try to steal a little gas $ from me. March 2019 I've had to use Enterprise a few additional times in the past year due to car repairs and an out of town trip. Consistently, this location is great. The associates here are hard working and helpful. I recently had an issue with an out of state location while traveling and needing to change vehicles, the associate, Sean, at the Maple Ave., location was so thoughtful and apologetic for my bad experience with the other location. He managed to make up for the horrible experience and is the only reason I'd even consider renting with Enterprise again. Thank you, Sean. The only issue I have with this location is that I feel they might be a bit short staffed on Sundays when people seem to be picking up & dropping off a bit more just before they are about to close, but the staff here handles it well though it would still be better to give them additional help. read more

This business routinely parks cars in the restricted area designed to allow customers access the elevators of the parking garage. Today I left a voicemail at 8:20am letting them know they had parked a car in this area which was causing issues for pedestrians. At 9:20am when I returned the car was still there. After telling an employee the car was moved. No employee ever acknowledged the issue. The business clearly doesn't care about the community it operates in. Apologizing is a completely foreign concept, even when asked. read more

I've been renting from this location for years, and was renting on an almost weekly basis from them for most of that time. I've earned the righteous status of Enterprise Platinum, which truthfully, doesn't really mean much other than you rent a lot of cars. I've gotten to know all 3 of the store managers at this location during that time (they rotate/promote them periodically), and they have all been fantastic. These guys ROCK. From awesome prices, to stellar customer service, this is a very well-run shop and it's just easy. One phone call resolves everything the first time. They always greet me by name when I walk in the door, and since I have my credit card on file, I have been in and out faster than a Jimmy John's delivery. In fact, I could have probably still rented a car AND beaten the Jimmy John's guy. Kyle even promised me a free upgrade to a Corvette when it comes in (in my dreams). That's what I'm talking about! Now, if Enterprise Corporate could get their act together and make that happen for me, I'll be happy to email Yelp about adding a 6th star to this review. read more

Was given a rental car by enterprise while my car was being worked on by Nissan dealership. Car was TINY, uncomfortable and smelled like a combination of cigarette smoke and wet dog. I absolutely HATED driving for the time i had to. Terrible model car, the smell was overwhelming and when i asked about other options they said they weren't clean yet. This is usually my choice location, but NOT anymore!!! I reserved a car for a Saturday and was able to choose a 12pm time. at 12.07 I was told the office was closed and we are out of cars. Just like that! yes I was 7 minute late but "out of cars" sounds like it wouldn't have mattered. and why give a 12pm reserve time if you have NO grace period of time................... You all have just lost my business, which is too bad because I always over looked the fact that the office was old, cold and smelly. read more

I have rented from this location a few times over the past couple of years and my overall experience hasn't been too bad. They usually don't have the size you asked for, which is a pain, but are ready to give you a free upgrade. The two star rating is because of my most recent rental. I extended my rental to Sunday, July 3rd and confirmed with the location that I would drop off the car at 10 am. So I turn up at the location at 10 only to find that it's closed on Sunday and Monday for the 4th of July weekend. I proceed to call customer service and turns out the only way to get rid of the car today was to drive all the way to O'Hare and I wouldn't know if I would be charged if I kept it another two days till the 5th. This level of inconvenience is completely unacceptable and I should really give it a 1 star. It's sad because this place is usually pretty friendly and helpful. read more

I usually use Budget Rental Car in Evanston but when planning my most recent getaway, I noticed that Enterprise was MUCH cheaper! :) I booked a car and then later read the Yelp reviews. Crap! I was honestly thinking of cancelling my rezzie because of all of the negative reviews. I am glad I didn't! When picking up the car, my experience was great! The two guys who were there were very friendly and even offered me a free upgrade!! They were fast as lightening too! I was in and out of there within 15 minutes and on the road to the country...in my brand new Toyota Corolla! It was clean and a very nice ride. Upon return, the process the even quicker! I was out of there within 5 minutes! Will MOST DEFINITELY be back! p.s. The only negative thing I can think of is the smell of the place...it smells like a pet store. hmmmm. :) read more

I rented a car here for about 4 months straight and spent about $200 a week for the car. I don't smoke at all and when I returned the car on a Saturday the female employee said to clean the car or pay the $200 cleaning fee which is absolutely absurd. The car wasn't perfectly clean but not dirty enough for a cleaning fee. I know this because I actually worked at enterprise and we received returned rental 20 times worse. Some clients literally went mudding and were not charged a cleaning fee. Enterprise literally has a dedicated cleaning team so it's extremely rude to ask you customer to clean the car and have them waste an hour of their day cleaning a car when that is apart of the service at enterprise. Very disappointing, moral of the story is. If you are hoping to make a relationship with this branch you are wasting your time, they will just try to hit you with fees that they shouldn't be. If I could give this location/company less then 1 star I wish I coils but unfortunately no. I went to this location with a fast pass and all my documents input in the app to have a quick interaction. The manger who stated her name was Paige denied my license stating because it was expired on February that she was not able to process my rental even during this pandemic. I then called two other enterprise locations that explained that your polices state as early as February expirations of 2020 licenses were still valid cause of covid. So didn't understand this situation. I feel discriminated against and felt with this information appalled by this whole scenario. I even took an uber farther from my work to come to pick up the car rental. I'm currently in a uber on my way to down town for work and just can't believe what just happened. I didn't know this kind of thing happens in your company but apparently it does and she is manager. I hate using the race card but really 5 locations in total told me no issue this is just crazy. read more

I was so disappointed by the service I received here. I booked early in the week for a weekend rental and received an email and a phone call confirming the reservation and detailing the information I would need to bring with me. When I arrived on time for the car pick up, I paid attention to the sign on the door "wait outside; we'll come to you." We waited outside, but nobody showed up for several minutes. After finally trying a knock on the door, somebody finally came out. It turns out that there were no cars available- at all. Enterprise said they had "left me a voicemail to let me know." Nope. No voicemail on my phone. But they clearly had my correct information, since I did get a confirmation phone call. At least they assured me that I would not owe any fees for their inability to furnish the car I had reserved. Needless to say, I will not be returning for any future rental needs. read more

I've had two experiences with this location, and I am quite unhappy. (I had a sense of humor about the 1st visit's issue and didn't make any fuss. But my experience today left me *extremely* unhappy.) First visit, the staff person who picked me up had clearly and obviously been smoking marijuana in the car on the drive over. Unprofessional, but I didn't complain. When we arrived to do the paperwork, the manager asked if I wanted to take the same vehicle I had been picked up in. I reluctantly said "okay" -- but when he got into the car to move it out of the lot, he too noted the obvious smell of pot and told me he would get another vehicle for my family to use. Fine. No harm, no foul. Today, I am furious. The manager (Shawn, I believe?) did not take any responsibility for his staff dropping the ball on my car return, essentially accused me of lying about the arrangements that had been made between Enterprise and my car dealership, and then charged me for days the car sat in a lot, unmoved, b/c of their own failure to communicate with one another. His attitude was unhelpful, accusatory, and condescending. During a time when I was already under a huge amount of stress trying to shuttle small children around, deal with a dangerous brake failure on my car, and purchase a new vehicle, Enterprise added considerable stress -- financial and otherwise -- to any already very unpleasant situation. I will NOT be using them again. That manager may have received extra money today, but he certainly lost a revenue stream in the future with his attitude and unhelpful customer service. If the staff member ever fesses up to their mistake, it would be awesome if the manager would have the good faith to refund the money that was unfairly taken from me b/c of their own staff screw-up. read more

First off, this place is efficient and that's probably what I appreciate the most. They are not trying to up charge you - they are direct to the point. That said, Sean (I hope I have the right person) is one of the most genuine people working there. Actually I go to this Enterprise because of his customer service. I rent a car 10/27 (Sat) 12:40 from Enterprise Evanston for 1 day. When I rent the car, a staff said that it is totally ok if I come around 1pm. While I was using the car, I was wondering if I could return the car slightly late, around 2pm, and call them to ask about this. The staff who got my call answered it is OKAY, but after I return the car, I realized they charged me for 2 days. I was upset, and went to the office to argue this. But another staff - I could not see the staff who answered my call - said they won't fix this. I don't understand how they charged me 2 days but had answered me it is okay before. I see this is quite problematic and inappropriate and I have felt a number of bad feelings about Enterprise customer service. One of staffs in Evanston Enterprise maple, he is really rude and his attitude is really terrible. I will never use this place again. read more

Although their prices were a bit higher than Hertz and Budget, we decided to rent from Enterprise because we thought they offered exemplary customer service. Unfortunately, our experience was just the opposite. When picking up the car, the employee tried sneaking on an additional $300 in fees and extras that were never agreed upon or discussed. This began shortly after he checked our IDs and saw that we are young renters. Luckily, we caught this before signing the contract and which forced him to remove the added costs. Unfortunately, we no longer trust Enterprise and their shady business practices ruined our experience. I regret not getting the name of the man who was in charge of our rental transaction. We will be looking elsewhere next time we need to rent a car. read more

The staff here is absolutely fantastic! Dave Johnson greeted me with a smile and provided some of the best customer service I've ever seen. He was accompanied by a very supported team that ensured my experience was as smooth as silk. I'll definitely be renting again from this location. This is the best Enterprise Rental franchise that I have ever been to. Usually I don't like renting from Enterprise; because they have a lot of ridiculous rules, like "You must show us a utility bill if you plan on paying with a bank card, etc." Who carries around a utility bill? What makes THIS branch special, to begin with, is the fact that the employees smile at you when you walk in the door. I love that! I also had a good rental experience with Lou. My dilemma was that I was moving; and the vehicle which I had selected online ended up being a lot smaller in person than I thought it would be. I told Lou of my situation, and she upgraded my vehicle at no additional cost. That was a lifesaver! Lou also walked me to the car and showed me around it carefully, and made sure that I understood everything that I needed to. When I returned the vehicle, she also made sure that I was happy with the rental. I will definitely go back here again! I love how friendly and communicative the staff members are. read more

DON'T RENT HERE! Rented from this location and the car was messed up, no working charging ports AT ALL (ran our of batteries in my cell and spent entire trip guessing my way out, NIGHTMARE!). It doesn't end there, the suv (2016 gray jeep compass) was making such a bad noise after 60 mph that we all felt insecure in that vehicle, not reliable at all. We had to interrupt our vacations and drive 40 minutes to the nearest enterprise branch to swap vehicles. To top it off, the day I was returning the vehicle, called in advance and request to speak with the manager (Dominick?) they said he was busy and will call asap, an hour went by and the call never happened. Also, they said they will hold $200 from my credit card and the did $250. Never again! read more

When we came to pick up our rental for the week, it was quite busy but when we were helped, the gentleman that helped us (I wish I could remember his name) was EXTREMELY friendly. The car we requested wasn't available so he gave us a bit of an upgrade - for free! We will definitely be returning to this location for anymore rental needs. read more

They did not ask me for this review. A good friend and coworker of mine who happened to be there when Enterprise was dropping me off to pick up my ride noted that at least one other other coworker of ours had been there the same day. Even had he not asked me to Yelp Enterprise in Evanston, I still would have done it. Apart from camping trips, where the cost of renting the added tent space often justifies bringing our own vehicle on a long trip, rental vehicles relieve us of concerns of a car breakdown or (as has actually happened) of our car being smashed in by a drunken conventioneer at Holiday Inn. Believe me....Geico's car replacement policy is not so generous. On this trip, I had taken to Yelping BBQ restaurants (feel free to browse) and we had already enjoyed the convenience of Evanston Enterprise on at least one previous rental. So it felt right to express our continued appreciation through this Yelp. Simply being picked up for a rental and returned home after a rental is enough to earn our repeat business. Evanston Enterprise goes beyond by making the entire process both simple and flexible. When I expressed concern over the size of the vehicle, they presented a number of creative and viable options. Perhaps, in a future rental, I may take them up on it. One of the hazards of being a good business is that they are regularly busy. If you want them to pick you up or drop you off at home, I suggest calling at least an hour ahead both for pickup and dropoff, so that they can arrange your transportation. We look for forward to our next rental opportunity with Evanston Enterprise. read more

Absolutely dismal customer service here dealing with the assistant manager. Gave my husband a hard time picking up the car, and then gave me a hard time trying to give it back, for no reason. They found a very faint scratch on the back of the bumper, ok fine. I didn't know how it got there but I wasn't arguing, shit happens sometimes, whatever. But I had to listen to a long, angry lecture about why I should have gotten Enterprise's insurance; a decision that was made a long time ago and that I couldn't even do anything about at this point. Why did I have to be lectured about that? Why did I have to stand there and listen to her talk about my husband like that? Because I didn't help her get her numbers up that week? That's not my problem. Not to mention the several lectures my husband got when picking up the car. He was a little late because he's disabled and it takes him a long time to get from place to place. So the economy car we *reserved* wasn't there by the time he arrived. So they gave us a mid-size car instead. Okay, but we should only have to pay for the car we reserved; it's not our fault if you overbooked your cars or hand them out to anyone who walks in off the street. So she gives him this idiotic lecture about restaurant reservations, as if that's an accurate metaphor at all. If you're late for your restaurant reservation, they will still feed you and won't charge you $75 more than you would have otherwise paid. He also had to get lectured about not getting the Enterprise insurance, as if we were really going to take out 2 different insurances for one trip. This isn't even the first bad experience I've had with Enterprise at other branches. I guess we're done with this company now. read more

Someone hit my truck over the holidays so I needed a rental for a couple days while my baby was at the body shop. Worked with the insurance company to get a good rate on a small SUV at Enterprise and showed up just a few minutes later. Lou was a class act and very cheery, professional and attentive as she got me in and out of there in about 5 minutes flat. The return was just as easy. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this location again and again, especially if Lou is there to help! read more
