My sister was dying and I rushed to where she was. In Arcata. Her family was so grief-stricken when she passed unexpectedly 2 days later that I flew home early to give them time to grieve in peace. Enterprise refused to refund the extra 2 days for the rental car that I turned in early. I was able to speak to the hotel manager personally and she approved a full refund for the 2 extra days for the hotel. So if life happens, please note that these people DO NOT CARE. You will be on the phone for hours with reps in India who are barely understandable and work at a snail's pace. Expect 2-3 hours on the phone if plans change and that you WILL NOT get a refund, NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I needed to haul a mattress set from Redding and Uhaul charges by the mile, so my $19.99 a day can would have been so expensive. Using a discount through my job, I was able to reserve a pick up for 2 days for under $200. I was happy. I picked it up, smooth sailing...errrr.. DRIVING. Enterprise staff were quite helpful, the vehicle was clean and worked great for my purposes. I also saw later that they can pick you up! I enlisted family and friends to take me and bring me back from the rental agency, now I know I can request help with that, also. I reserved online. It said on bold that $172 would be due at pick up. If I would have read the fine print I would have noticed that there is a $300 deposit at pick up, too. I dropped the truck off his early with more gas than it started with. And was contacted via email with my final receipt. Since I used a bank debit, it took about 3 days for the deposit to show back up in my account. May 1st 2026 ready to car to go pick my wife up in Sacramento rented a Nissan Sentra car was great everything's fine but when I rented the car I put it on my Chase card and they said that $300 deposit which is refundable the minute I return the car in the condition that they wanted which is so I did but when I ran into the car they said that they return it if the car is fine a fun time it's refundable right away when I return the car I said that oh everything's fine that it's returned to your card so my wife and I went next door to IHOP to have breakfast and noticed on our Chase account in our website or yeah that we got billed twice and the $300 deposit was not returned so at this point we're built 366 plus change twice on our account and this is Friday and I'm right in this on Sunday so we walked back to Enterprise and the so-called manager told us that they never do that when my wife explained to him that well you build us twice and he said that they returned the deposit in 24 hours okay they didn't tell me that when I ran at the car this is not what it upsets me what upsets me is they built me twice I'm out $366 * 2 and it is 40 hours later and I've never got my deposit back or the money that they owe me which is $666 dogs dollars The manager of the eureka establishment told us that it was up to my bank my bank at Chase the largest bank in America says it's no they it's up to them so we went back talked to him and he shyness on and here I am on going on 40 hours without my money back and I'm a senior citizen my wife has been sick this is why I went and got her and we have no money in our account so yes I'm making a bad review Don't rent from Enterprise and yes we she wrecked our car and we got to buy a new one and I'm going to go to Hertz next door in 3 days and rent another car and I will never rent from Enterprise again and I called Enterprise they say they're going to call me back and they're going to make it right but they never have so yes I give benefit of doubt because I don't want to burn a bridge and I I like it you know and I haven't rented a car since 1999 and I'll never rent one again so Enterprise in eureka sucks donkey and they're rude and the car is fine but I don't know what the corporation needs to do but in eureka California they suck donkey read more

Five stars solely to the guys that were there helping the day I picked up my rental. I reserved a car 3 months in advance prior to a long road trip. The online process was super easy, but I realized (as I sat in the office for an hour after my scheduled pickup time), that the online system can really complicate things. The employees were transparent when they said that they had 50+ reservations that day (March 22nd) and only around 20 cars available. They told everyone in the office that they were going to do the best that they could do- and they did! I was lucky enough to be in a position where I was not in a huge rush to leave town immediately, so I did not mind the wait but I know not everyone was in the same position. The employees on the phone were diplomatic considering this situation was completely out of their control. They need more cars available and the online reservation system needs to be figured out. I would not have been happy if there wasn't a car available, and that was the case for many that day. Evan D was beyond helpful and apologetic as he set me up with my rental. He seemed knowledgeable and was respectful to the not so happy customers on the phone, just from what I was overhearing in the lobby. Overall, I think this place has potential but management should truly look in to getting more cars and fixing up the online reservations. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we ventured north from LA County To celebrate our gratitude in the redwoods. My brother-in-law and his wife decided to join us for part of the trip, and our Thanksgiving table under the trees in stars. After a 700 mile trip from Southern California, they unfortunately were involved in a car accident just 3 miles from our campsite. Thankfully, they were not severely injured, but they were pretty banged up, and their car was worse. No way to drive it away from the location, and the towing and Insurance part of the story are fodder for other reviews. Suffice to say, they found themselves with no transportation back to Southern California, and thus, in need of a rental car. After dealing with the insurance company in vain, and after a competing rental agency told him they had no vehicles due to the holiday weekend, my brother-in-law found Enterprise in Eureka. Based on my hearing of the speaker phone call, the gentleman on the other end was empathetic, patient, and professional. Reset my brother-in-law's fears at ease, helped de-escalate the whole situation, and assured him that he would have a vehicle waiting when he arrived. After the 30 minute drive down the coast, we arrived at enterprise, and within five minutes my brother-in-law was in his vehicle following me back up Highway 101. I am sure that my brother-in-law and his wife felt like the drive back to SoCal was longer than the drive up, but one thing they did not need to worry about was any headache with the rental car. I don't know anyone who rents a car just for the hell of it; instead, most people rent a car when they are in a pinch, or when they are having a great time. Truly, there is no middle ground, so kudos to this company and this outlet in Eureka we're doing a great job with customer service and a little bit of social work! read more

I had a reservation for a car and I drove an hour and half to get there with my kids and gifts and when I went to pick up my reserved vehicle for a trip to visit my family for Christmas i was told this location had 7 reservations for the the same vehicle and they only had one in stock. They said they could not accommodate me and offered no assistance they did not apologize they said i could wait with my 3 young children under 5 to see if something might open up. I did wait and did not receive a car nor any thing for the huge inconvenience and horrible experience they created. Just Don't. Don't go here. Use Hertz, or buy a car before you ever have to have your intellect insulted by these unprofessional people. Is this some sort of work experiment to give troubled people with no qualifications a chance in life? When I called and informed the lady on the phone of my insurance reservation for a rental instead of asking for the confirmation number, she said, "yeah what's up with that?" Prior to showing up there, I had made multiple calls to confirm that they would be able to accommodate my extenuating circumstances. I had an accident while traveling and away from my service area. I had a temporary license that was about to expire and I needed to get back to my PO Box for the hard copy of my renewed license (merely a day or two needed). Hertz was able to accommodate that. Somehow Enterprise couldn't figure it out. This was a heavy concern for me and I didn't want my time wasted. I work from the road and my schedule was very tight. I must mention that throughout this entire process I never so much as raised my voice and was still treated with disdain. In fact I called ahead many times for this very reason and was very explicit as to what my circumstances were and what I needed from them. I knew the limitations and found a way to work within them. I was assured a vehicle over the phone and scheduled everything based on this, only to be denied a vehicle when I showed up to the office. Hertz apparently are problem solvers not problem makers. One nice thing, they gave me a ride back to my car. I would have been stranded there if they hadn't given me a ride...but with a chaperone! LOL! They are awkward and really did a poor job reading the room entirely. The asylum is being run by inmates. It seemed like the show the Apprentice Project and one of their hair brained ideas. They had about as much organization as you'd imagine from one of those chaotic celebrity episodes, too. I never liked the show and this place left me feeling equally grossed out. The only nice person with any personality at all was the nice gentleman who gave me a ride. The "tough guy" in the back needs to roll his sleeves down. Lol They are extremely unprofessional and petty. By far some of the worst customer service agents I've ever met. When everyone in your lobby is upset, that's a problem for you. Luckily, I don't need rental cars often and their selection sucks, too! Ask the guy there with his wife for vacation and who reserved an Audi only to end up with a Jeep! Lol! He was pissed! I would be too if I had gone through the trouble of making a reservation over six months in advance, paid for a luxury car and ended up with a Jeep, for and for basically the same price. WHAT A RIPOFF! As I sat there waiting for some semblance of professionalism or service. I watched every other person in the building become agitated and disgruntled. It was mid morning and the manager was nowhere to be found. He did come back with a suspicious sniffle though, and he acted jittery and weird. One guy was walking around arguing over custody with whoever was on the other line. Front desk representatives could not answer simple questions, and every person in there had an issue for the manager, who was again, nowhere to be found and for a long time. I rented a car for a VA appointment down in SF. Everything went like clock work. Everyone was super nice and knew their job. They got me in a very nice Nissan. Car drove well and got good gas mileage. Normally I use Hertz across from them. Rented from them for a long time, but a lady over there. Gave me a mouth full over not knowing how these new electric cars work. Any ways, Enterprise was so much nicer and I love the later hours. On the way back from the bay area. We had this super storm. Didn't know about it and just north of Garberville, CA. A branch blew across the road. Well, the car got a little damaged. I bought the insurance just in case. Enterprise said not to worry about it and took a few minutes to do the digital paperwork and had me on my way. I've been renting car's for over 20 years and never had to report damage. What could improve? Almost everything! I booked a rental online one day before Thanksgiving. Yes, I should have made the reservation earlier, but it was a last minute need. I then called after booking online and was told that yes, they would have a vehicle for me. I was told that while it was a busy time and things may be tight, they didn't see an issue. I called the next day when they opened to see if I could still pick up the vehicle at my scheduled time. I was told that the current availability was questionable because a vehicle had been returned and it could not be detailed until the following week. They assured me that they would likely have something for me by noon. (Scheduled pick up was 9:30 am) I started reaching out to other places and friends to see if I could borrow a car. I called Enterprise at 9:30 to check in. Things were iffy, but I was still like to get a car by noon. Finally borrowed my cousin's car and hit the road by 12:30 as I still hadn't heard from them. I understand that I should have booked much sooner. However, don't advertise online that you have a vehicle when you don't. And don't string me along for hours hoping to get the sale. read more

I LOVE ENTERPRISE RENT-a-CAR! In every town, city or state in which I've ever lived, visited or gotten stuck in... accidentally - LITERALLY! And I have AAA insurance which means (for the most part) I am forced to call and use the "other guys" but (invariably) am usually the one getting used :-( The other guys don't offer incredible weekend deals during off-season, they don't put in the extra effort to hustle (when it gets busy - they HUSTLE!) and most of the time with a smile and great attitude. However, don't try to fudge the rules or go against the grain because this company (like most) has procedures and processes that must be followed and these top-notch trained people do just that! If you mess up or "try to pull a fast one" on Enterprise, they WILL bust you. When I read most of the cry-baby, type remarks that accompany the one-star reviews given this location, that is what comes to mind. However, I am not buying most of the sniveling. This establishment has always treated me with due respect, a great attitude and professionalism that appears unmatched by what I've seen throughout Humboldt County so far. So... Please continue to give us the best rental car experience in Eureka. The location downtown will pick me up, when I want it - also a courtesy not matched by the "other" guys across the street. We arrived in the early afternoon only to find out there were no cars ready for immediate pick-up. That, and there was only one employee working at the time juggling everything on his own: checking reservations, inspecting cars, cleaning the cars and then handing over keys to the next customers waiting. We were told the wait would be about one to one and a half hours - even though we had a reservation for when we landed. The reason I give this location 5 stars is because of Peter. He was that employee mentioned above. His calm demeanor was infectious. There were a lot of "salty" people on that flight from LA and waiting for cars. Peter was so professional in handling the situation that was totally out of his control. I usually do not write reviews this long, however, Peter deserves the rave review. As a public middle school teacher, I can say that Peter would make an amazing administrator: principal or assistant principal. His character to calm a crowd would make him an excellent leader. If you're intersted in the worst place on earth, then definitely check this place out. Went in today to exchange my rental for a new one. I rented a car from San Rafael and drove it up to Eureka for work. Problem was the steering wheel had a constant vibration, so much so, that after the 5 hour drive, my hands were numb. I was very rudely told that there was nothing they could do for me because they didn't have any cars. I saw like 7 in the lot. But apparently those are for those with reservations, or unable to make the one-way trip back to San Rafael. So I had a reservation and what? Too bad for me? They can't designate a car to me so I don't have to drive a broken car back home? Their solution? They told me I could: (a) go to Firestone next door who might be able to fix the car and I would later be reimbursed. I know, this seems like a great solution right? Cause I rented a rental car so I could take it to the shop and fix it myself? WTF? (b) I could drive to Arcada and see if they have another car. Because I'm just here in Eureka for fun, and have all the time in the world to drive around trying to solve the fact that Enterprise rented me a janky car. I asked them to contact the Arcada office and contact me with a resolution. Samantah Magana said she would - and shockingly I never received that phone call. She was also RUDE. There are 4,568 places to rent a car. Mark my words, I will never rent with Enterprise again. THE WORST Here's a tip Enterprise: When someone comes in with a problem - like - I dunno - the car your rented them is broken and vibrating all over the place. FIX THEIR PROBLEM. Sadly, not the Enterprise I know and am so loyal too. I have rented from a number of different location with great experiances...except this one... A routine single day rental, turned into a near disaster due to very poor information given over the phone prior to even starting our trip. Bad information about the rental resulted in my wife nearly not getting a car and being stranded in a hotel with our teenage son... While attempting to resolve the issue...staff was condescending, even questioning my integrity and use of the car...explaining this is a "high risk" place....huh?!
