There were only a few guests when the gates opened but wait times filled up fast as there was only one staff tending the taps and gift shop. We were second in line, so it wasn't much of a wait for us. I ordered a flight of five with regular ABVs (alcohol by volume) which included the iconic Downtown Brown, Harvest Wheat, Peanut Butter Chocolate Stout, Great White and Lost Coast Pilsner. I and the other patrons were bummed that the Indica IPA wasn't on tap so I ended up purchasing a six pack. I wanted a totally different variety of beers when we had dinner at LCB's restaurant a few nights before. The restaurant offers a flight of 6 on tap BTW. I'm more of a wine person when given a choice, but the tasting the brews of LCB was one opportunity I wasn't going to miss while I was here. I like IPA and wheat among the beers but ended up liking all of them. Even the dark stouts. Unlike, the restaurant, they only serve chips (unpacked) and salsa (sealed) here. My wife (designated driver) and son opted to get a taster of their root beer and a couple scoops of ice cream from the gift shop. We ended up purchasing a bright tie-dyed tee LCB tee and a fridge magnet.

I had plans to propose to my then girlfriend on this tour and she was very happy to help me out. Eileen's knowledge of the area and expertise were perfect in both helping me to find a beautiful spot to propose, as well as to have a fun and educational experience learning about SO many things in that part of the forest. I will certainly be coming back to explore the many other parts of the forest with them in the future (and maybe during a more temperate season). The cashier did open the door and only smiled when I told her that we had just driven 5.5 hours to go to shop at Holly Yashi. She kept saying "I understand ". No she doesn't!! She didn't waste her time and $$ driving up to a store that was closed. She did say that they had just changed their social media...well you missed one. And to make it worse the store is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Shopping at Holly Yashi is just about the only thing to do in this town. Grrrrr!

We'll hold a spot for you. *We have two late-70's seniors who haven't ridden bicycles in over 20 years. No Problem! We've got an electric tricycle for one and a lighter bike for the other. *We want to get back earlier to make it to our next destination. No problem! We can turn around and return whenever you want. Also, they give you exactly what is needed to paddle in Trinidad so you remain warm & comfy. I was so impressed with our guides, Nick and Alex, and their local knowledge of seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal species. Whales are cool, but there are also a lot of other really cool animals & birds in Trinidad Bay. And these guides know just where to take you. They were not afraid to take us into a little rougher waters, when we asked them to, likely because they are so skilled and experienced. I also really appreciated all of the paddling guidance they provided making sure I was using my core/legs more than my arms. I was with a very large group and the guides handled everything with such class and professionalism. It is a step above any outfitter I've ever paddled with. We are really lucky to have them in Trinidad to help us access some of the most fantastic coastline along the California coast. They also do a great job interpreting the California Coastal National Monument! All of those rocks and islands are part of a statewide national monument that runs from the Oregon border south to Mexico! Wow! What a treasure. Beer 8/10. Chili fries 9/10. Service from food 10/10. Bartender 0/10. If Liza is ever there behind the bar again, I will leave.
