Captain Chris was so cool ! 2full hours of fun ! He talked a little about the scenery ,and wildlife…read morebut also gave us quiet time to just enjoy the ride ! Just when things got a little "sleepy" he would show us what a jet boat can do , always warning us to "hold on tight!"before whipping us round in tight circles, that had everyone on board giggling but not wet ! We took the 4o'clk trip.Oregon Wildfires made a red sun and added an overcast surreal light & mist and smoke to the scenery. Maybe causing some animals to be shy,,,, but , We saw lots of bald eagles & kestrels! Blue herons and white great egrets and several types of ducks & cormorants! Also the wild cattle , feral descendants from survivors of the flood of '64.We got very close to the enormous sea lions swimming in the estuary (where the river meets the ocean)along side the boat at the beginning of the trip as well ! CaptChris even told us why Blue Creek is so blue !!! The young gal that greeted us was also very Upbeat both days. When we first stopped in,she "sold us" on taking the trip , let us know the tour needed at least 8 people for a boat to "go"so we , as a couple, had to hop on with a bigger reserved group to have a"confirmed departure "She also told us about the Yurok tribe-run "shuttle " servicing the area ,that would come get us , where we were camping,(at Kamp Klamath Campground )and advised us to reserve a "return pick-up" time as well ! Great information , she could not have been friendlier! The gift shop had exceptional quality souvenir shirts as well as light snacks & drinks! Sunglasses & sunscreen and hats

Also, they give you exactly what is needed to paddle in Trinidad so you remain warm & comfy. I was so impressed with our guides, Nick and Alex, and their local knowledge of seabirds, marine mammals, and intertidal species. Whales are cool, but there are also a lot of other really cool animals & birds in Trinidad Bay. And these guides know just where to take you. They were not afraid to take us into a little rougher waters, when we asked them to, likely because they are so skilled and experienced. I also really appreciated all of the paddling guidance they provided making sure I was using my core/legs more than my arms. I was with a very large group and the guides handled everything with such class and professionalism. It is a step above any outfitter I've ever paddled with. We are really lucky to have them in Trinidad to help us access some of the most fantastic coastline along the California coast. They also do a great job interpreting the California Coastal National Monument! All of those rocks and islands are part of a statewide national monument that runs from the Oregon border south to Mexico! Wow! What a treasure. Thank you Kayak Trinidad for providing A+++ service where it is needed and appreciated!

Opening time was 1 pm and it was perfect as it was on the way to our hotel from a morning visit to the town of Ferndale. There were only a few guests when the gates opened but wait times filled up fast as there was only one staff tending the taps and gift shop. We were second in line, so it wasn't much of a wait for us. I ordered a flight of five with regular ABVs (alcohol by volume) which included the iconic Downtown Brown, Harvest Wheat, Peanut Butter Chocolate Stout, Great White and Lost Coast Pilsner. I and the other patrons were bummed that the Indica IPA wasn't on tap so I ended up purchasing a six pack. I wanted a totally different variety of beers when we had dinner at LCB's restaurant a few nights before. The restaurant offers a flight of 6 on tap BTW. I'm more of a wine person when given a choice, but the tasting the brews of LCB was one opportunity I wasn't going to miss while I was here. I like IPA and wheat among the beers but ended up liking all of them. Even the dark stouts. Unlike, the restaurant, they only serve chips (unpacked) and salsa (sealed) here. My wife (designated driver) and son opted to get a taster of their root beer and a couple scoops of ice cream from the gift shop. We ended up purchasing a bright tie-dyed tee LCB tee and a fridge magnet.

On our way to dinner, but I guess I gave my wife the wrong GPS address and ended up here, LOL…read more Quality/Quantity - Sampled all their beer that was NOT available at their cafe. Visited their Cafe Brewery a few days prior. After trying so many samples, I settled for: Scotch Ale & Raspberry Brown (closest to a red). Atmosphere - Good size location, cool decor. Service - 6 stars. Weird that we were the only customers. So got full attention from the two team members. Currently significantly understaffed. As the two team members are only a few weeks new. So no tours, yet. Price - $16 + generous tip. Sunday is the best day to come if you are price conscious. Of course today is Wed... Owner Comments - Congrat on so many successes since 1989. Women owned! What a great history, you should share even more on your website.
