    Updated review, This was a 2 star, now 1! So Since we reported the prior damage to the counter person with time/date on the pictures we took prior to driving off the lot, they went ahead and reported the damage to their "Damage Unit" and are trying to collect from us! I cannot stress enough about reporting ANY damage prior to taking car off the lot. Get the counter person to view the damage, take pics of them looking and record any verbal conversation and get in writing before leaving lot. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL LOCATION Racial/age/gender profiling?..........Given wrong directions.... So booked a rental through Costco, got a good deal. Counters are close to baggage pick-up and parking lot, but hey! It's a small airport! The female behind the counter explained everything correctly, (except where the car is located) tried her hand of up-selling, offered us 2 choices of an available vehicle. Then told us to go all the way down the building, following the green wall. ALL THE WALLS ARE GREEN!! We went down to the end, went out the door to the left as she stated, that took us to the employee parking lot.....NO RENTAL CARS THERE!! Half hour later we found the lot, there are no visible signs (they're knee high) indicating rental cars. We also found an Asian couple wandering around too, same directions. When we returned to drop off keys and explain to her the mis-information, her reply was, "people get confused". The exit door is 15 feet away....The cars are in the facing lot, on left, first 4 rows, with signs at bumper high indicating the space # Note, take pictures of your vehicle for any damage and dirty conditions prior to driving off. When returning, they will not inspect vehicle, you'll have proof of the damage was already there with the time stamp on your pic info.

    We rented a 2020 SUV that displayed "oil pressure low" after a day of driving around town. We were on our way to the airport (to try to swap out the car) when our vehicle died at a poorly lit freeway interchange. Luckily, we were still able to pull over to the shoulder. The rep asked if we could walk to safety off of an exit. I did not want to put everyone in danger by walking on the side of the freeway at night while holding all our stuff. Quite frankly, we couldn't even see one. We had to figure out our own way off the freeway. THEY DID NOT PICK US UP... look up their slogan. After some time, we finally get to the airport. The first replacement vehicle they gave us said "check engine oil." We go back inside showed them the message. The rep assured us that the oil was changed that day & probably not reset. After the night we had, we didn't feel comfortable taking it & she understood. Get to the third car... Turn on the car, "check engine oil." At this point it's 11something pm, we're hungry, we have people stranded at an Ihop waiting for us to get them. We take the car. Came back the next morning waited to change our for a similar sized SUV. We had to wait a bit since it was a back to school time. THEY STILL CHARGED US FULL PRICE FOR THE RENTAL. The reps were nice and they understood the situation but "only the manager" can address any concerns. I called customer care when we returned home. Still no response.

    We rented a midsize car and received a beat up Corolla with about 50,000 miles on the clock. The car had so many dents and scratches that we were afraid we'd miss one with our initial inspection and later on being made responsible for it. Service at the counter was quick and easy, but paying $100+ a day all in for this vehicle is a joke.

I booked a suv at a great rate and up Until then things were fine. When I landed and got to the desk to check my rental out, the female behind the counter asked for my passport. I was a little taken back, I didn't need a passport to board the plane from Puerto Rico to LA, LA to Oregon. I told her I don't need a passport to rent a car and she was rude AF and continue to say yes. She finally went in the back and talked to a manager, a manager that never got off their lazy butt to come help a customer in need who was about to be stranded. She told me I was from Another country and I needed a passport, that my driver license from Puerto Rico was valid in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! She told me unless I had a passport I was screwed. I found my passport card and presented it and by that point she had already decided that she wasn't gonna give me the car, probably cause I made her look stupid asking me for a passport to a country that's part of the us territory. I was on the verge of crying being bullied by the female behind the country. They left me feeling helpless and screwed. When I went to the other desk rentals like enterprises, Alamo, Avis, they all could rent to me no problem. The problem at that point I was I'm paying peak prices because now I don't have a car reserved ahead of time and their rush-hour was between 12-2 for clients already made reservations. I ended up getting a way smaller car for five times the amount because Hertz screwed me over. On top of that Hertz actually charged me For the rental and said it was my fault. ARE U FOR REAL LIFE HERTZ!?? You treated me like dogshit and then charged me and continued to treat me like dogshit with no understanding to the matter. It wasn't until I threaten a charge back for fraud they actually reversed the charges. The CEO said he made changes to Avoid these problems happening to us again and it happened again ! Mine wasn't as bad as this family veteran but it was one of my worst experiences I've ever had. Ps, i'm also a military veteran and how your employees demonstrated disrespect, disgrace and dishonor will always be unforgettable. How does every other car rental place allow me To rent but yours? The only explanation I got was my drivers license is coming up as red flag and they can't help me, the end. Never happened before and never happened after just in that instance with those people in that rental car service. I'll be more happy to provide my contract and show proof that I had to spend even more money for a smaller car last minute because Hertz screwed me over big-time. I have attached that letter and photos. Dear Hertz Customer Relations, I am writing regarding a rental of a Jeep Compass from your Eugene Airport location, which I had continuously from March 8, 2026 through March 20, 2026, across multiple rental agreements and extensions, including Rental Agreement Number (RA #) 3293057. Vehicle: Jeep Compass 2.0 AWD Rental Location: Eugene Municipal Airport During this rental period, I experienced concerning issues with the vehicle's performance. On March 15, 2026, when I returned and entered into an extension of the rental, I specifically informed Hertz staff that the vehicle did not feel right when accelerating and handling, including a noticeable jerking sensation in the steering. I requested a different vehicle due to these concerns. I was advised that this behavior was normal and was told that similar vehicles perform the same way. It is possible they believed this was related to a driver-assist feature such as lane assist; however, I was still instructed to continue driving the same vehicle despite my concerns. On March 20, 2026, while driving to work, the vehicle suffered a tire failure, leaving me stranded and requiring roadside assistance and towing. The vehicle did not have a spare tire, only an inflator kit, and the sealant was ineffective due to the severity of the tire damage and exposed cords. Upon inspection, Les Schwab determined that the tires were unsafe, with significant inner wear and exposed cords due to alignment issues. I have documentation and photos confirming this condition. This indicates that the vehicle had a pre-existing safety issue and should not have been rented in this condition. Additionally, I had already reported abnormal performance prior to the failure and was instructed to continue driving the vehicle. As a direct result of this incident, I also lost a full day of work. I am a federal employee with a scheduled shift from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a requirement to complete an eight-hour workday. Due to the breakdown, towing process, and subsequent vehicle replacement, I was unable to complete my scheduled hours and therefore lost income. Following this incident, Hertz replaced the vehicle with a Ram 2500 pickup truck. This replacement has significantly higher fuel consumption and created additional burdens, including the inability to park in my designated work parking garage, resulting in out-of-pocket parking expenses. At the time of the replacement, I expressed concern about the fuel cost and practicality of the truck. I was informed that it was the only vehicle available and was advised to return on Sunday to exchange it once more suitable vehicles became available. As a result of these circumstances, I am requesting the following: A full refund of the rental charges for the Jeep Compass from March 8, 2026 through March 20, 2026 A full refund of the rental charges for the Ram 2500 replacement vehicle provided following the breakdown Reimbursement for additional fuel costs incurred due to the replacement vehicle Reimbursement for parking expenses incurred as a result of the oversized replacement vehicle Additional compensation or rental credit reflecting the safety risk, inconvenience, lost income, and overall disruption caused I trusted Hertz to provide a safe and properly maintained vehicle. Being unknowingly placed in a vehicle with unsafe tires--especially after raising concerns--created a serious safety risk. I would appreciate a prompt review of this matter and a fair resolution.     ZERO STARS. I booked a car online with Hertz, received my confirmation, and even paid for an Uber…read more($25) from the airport to their location. When I got there, they told me they had no cars available. The employee claimed they "called me" -- they did not. Not only did they fail to provide the car I reserved, but they also offered zero help or support in resolving the situation. No alternatives, no effort to fix their mistake, nothing. Meanwhile, my rental is still showing as active in their system, even though they openly admitted they had no cars. Terrible customer service, zero accountability, and a complete waste of time and money. I'll never rent from Hertz again.
