Booked a car through Priceline for June 7th-14th and paid in full. We thought everything was fine, boy were we wrong. We received the confirmation code in an email but called to confirm the vehicle. The global Enterprise said the price was $400 more and the vehicle we wanted was not available and he cancelled our reservation. He stated if we wanted another vehicle for our trip it would be the higher price and they would refund my money, over $725, in 3-10 business days. But if we cancel it I will not get a refund. We canceled in the same day and the booking was supposed to be cancelled free of charge in the first 48 hours. Then called Priceline and they said they would refund it but will 7-12 business days. Took less than 7 minutes to take it. I will NEVER use Enterprise again! read more

After being screwed over with our months long reservation with budget for vacation we were forced to book with enterprise. I'll be honest, they are never my choice. Always the worst company to work with. Well, called and to my surprise so accommodating and found what we needed and it would be ready in an hour. Amazing, vacation is not ruined. We can still hit the road! Get to enterprise and they say oh we have you down for 5pm. I said ok, well we were told it's ready now. Then she says they don't have a vehicle till tomorrow. Excuse me!? That's not what we were told. She's checking and guess what? No SUV we need in ALL of Des Moines. Sure. Sure. Then we are told calls are outsourced and they don't know the inventory. It's at this point I lose it. I don't want to get into it all but, let's say I told them their customer service system needs a massive overhaul. No wonder they have such high competition now. Long story short, we couldn't travel with the family without the SUV. Vacation planned for 5 months ruined and canceled. Thank you Budget and Enterprise. I've made sure you both received bad reviews and all my friends and family know to never rent from you again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible customer service. First of all, they didn't have the vehicle I had reserved. They called and left a message to tell me. I tried to call back and I couldn't get through because the branch was closed. Then, every step of the way I got pushback and rudeness from the person at the counter. Then when I expressed frustration I was told that she was refusing service and banning me from ever renting through enterprise again. Trust me, I had no intention of doing so. I know it's not her fault that this company has BS policies. The owner or manager of this branch is to blame for how dissatisfying the experience was. read more

While our truck was in the body shop, we rented a car from the East Euclid Ave location in Des Moines. Although, understaffed, they couldn't have been easier to work with. Helpful and polite. Will definitely use them again. read more

I'm a longtime Enterprise customer. I've used the Downtown Des Moines location twice this summer and I will use them again and again. The staff has been very helpful and informative when I asked questions. The cars were readily available. Checking in and out was very quick and easy. Well yesterday I rented a car to drive to Minneapolis for the Twins home opener! I booked an economy car online this past weekend and was promised a car! Naturally when I arrived at Enterprise they had no economy cars. Ug! They asked if I wouldn't mind driving a Pick Up truck or a Van, and I was like I don't really want too, but I guess if that is all you have! So they put me into this huge 4 seater pick up truck.. Dodge Ram.. She then kept saying what an UPGRADE it was for me, that I was so lucky? I was like well this is a nice truck, but it's going to be gas guzzling like no tomorrow, not the best for the environment either for 1 guy to be driving this huge thing 8 hours round trip! So she offered to let me bring it back on empty, giving me a little over a quarter of a tank of gas for free! WHAT A DEAL.... kinda.. Well before I got out of Des Moines I realized this Dodge Ram had XM radio, this instantly changed my mood! I was stoked to be shuffling through channels finding killer song after killer song. Things you will learn or wonder while listening to XM radio for 8 hours... 1. The version of "Thunder Road," by the Boss and the E-Street band from Cleveland in 1978 was better then the version played in Buffalo in Aug. of 2012. I heard them both! 2. Tom Petty is a great radio host, Going from a Randy Newman song where he talks about ELO, strait into Showdown by ELO. 3. Elvis's version of, "You Were Always on My Mind," is absolutely killer! 4. O.P.P by Naughty By Nature might be the greatest hip hop beat ever! 5. Why did the Fugees put that awful fake sounding Sitar in, "Killing Me Softly" 6. The french horn was in perfect use on, "After the Gold Rush," by Neil Young Ok so my trip ended up being good, but man I really wish I would have had a smaller car, so I could actually park it easy in Minneapolis.. But the XM made up for all the other, "upgrading"! read more

I'm renting monthly and wanted to switch out my vehicle and the branch manager can't even call me back after I called twice to discuss my contact. After getting the run-around from the reservations system two times, which let me reserve a van at two different locations and then the locations having to tell me that they didn't have any available, Courtney went to work on resolving the issue until she had found a van for us to rent. I still have concerns about a reservation system where they reservations website AND a live person didn't know that there were no vans available and let people go ahead and reserve something, but this location worked until they had the problem resolved. What a dud. I reserved a car weeks before for Saturday Feb. 20th, a Toyota Corolla, or similar 5 passenger. Cost = $81.61. I then got a car, just for the day, 2 days before and reminded them that I was returning on the 20th. I was told that they only had 1 employee on the schedule for the 20th, a Saturday, so they could not live up to their advertised slogan as the rental car company that picks you up. So, Saturday morning I walked the roughly 2 miles. Fortunately although a bit chilly it was otherwise a nice morning. I arrived at 8:45 a.m., 15 minutes before opening. The girl was busy pulling a car into place for pick up. It was a Toyota Corolla. She saw me standing at the door, did not say hello, and did not offer to open the door to allow me to wait inside. I thought it was because she was alone and didn't want me in the lobby unaccompanied. Although I wondered how she would handle that same situation after opening hours if multiple persons showed up at the same time. After all, someone has to walk them out to the car, etc. Anyway, I was quite surprised that when I was allowed in at 9:00 a.m. that there were 2 persons working. Either way, they checked me in and brought me to my compact Ford Accent with 34,128 miles, and told me the Toyota was reserved for another person. This was a small inner city location and I'm not sure if they had any other cars, I was in a hurry, thus had little choice but to take the Accent. The price I was charged was still $81.61 AND the car was a mess. During the walk around I complained that the car was dirty. She said they washed it the evening before and that it was windy over night. I grimaced as I did swirls in the roof and wrote "clean me" on 2 windows. I told her an apology would have been more palatable and that her explanation was just laughable. It was ridiculous to think the amount of dirt on the car was from one windy evening, which wasn't that windy, and the Toyota was not in the same condition even though it was also outside. There was a dent in the driver's side that she marked on the contract as being on the passenger side. I pointed out her error and she wrote a D and a P next to the picture and told me that will alert the person taking delivery that the dent was on the driver's side. D for driver, P for passenger. Anyway, here is a rundown of the other problems. The car reeked of cigarette smoke. The gas tank was empty. Yes, empty. There was what appeared like a grape juice stain on the back seat and also a puncture hole. And the tire had a leak, which they must have added air that morning otherwise the low air warning light would have been on, because I only drive it 2 miles before parking it for the day and by the time I got back to the car after it sat in the parking lot for the day it had a low tire with the warning light on. That light was not on when I picked it up. I took the car because I had to get to my scheduled event. I didn't have time to find another. I didn't bring it back because after my event I had to drive 140 miles, at night, to get to my next destination. Not being familiar with rural Iowa I pulled out of Des Moines with my wife and 10 year old daughter complaining of the cigarette smell. I thought I'd find gas at every exit, but that wasn't the case. 20 miles later, which seems like a long way on an empty tank, I found gas, put some in, and had to fill up the almost flat, yes flat, tire. The gas was enough for the trip but the air was not. I stopped 2 more times to put air in the tire and eventually in the morning, at 5:00 a.m., returned to an almost flat tire. I drove it the 3 miles to the airport like that and returned it almost flat. And of course when they give you an empty gas tank it's almost impossible to not return it with more gas than it had, otherwise you would risk misjudging your need and might run out. I've posted pictures to show I'm not making this bad experience up. Anyway, I'm usually a pretty understandable guy, but after this experience I just needed to get this rant off of my chest. Airport didn't have available rentals, so had to rent a vehicle in town. Morning didn't start out very well. Whether it be because I wasn't made aware or I completely missed what policy was...doesn't really matter....I did not get overly upset, I was just tired from an early morning flight and just wanted to get a car. I haven't had much experience with this company in this town, but the stars are solely for the customer service I received. I was skeptical about renting a vehicle from the downtown location, due to a horrible experience in the past. I can say that they have done a complete 180 and was pleasantly surprised to find that every associate I encountered was positive and professional. When I was picked up, the associate was very personable and held a great conversation. Upon my arrival, I was notified that the luxury vehicle class I rented in was not available and I would be upgraded to a premium compact suv. Unfortunately, it was not big enough for my trip to hold cargo and passengers. The associate checking me in was able to call the airport to see if they had something in my class before heading over for a trade out. She was extremely professional and made sure that I did not waste my time driving over there. Returning the vehicle was a breeze. I will definitely be back to this location in the future. read more
