Hearing Associates of Northern Virginia has been extraordinarily helpful on every visit made on…read morebehalf of my 89 year old mother. What an extraordinary practice: kind, caring & competent audiologists; knowledgable support staff & an office well stocked with fairly-priced hearing aid accessories. When my mother moved from Florida to Baltimore, I went to this practice (not far from my home) to purchase new rechargeable batteries for her hearing aids. When I told the receptionist that the batteries were supposed to last about a year, but were not working after 5 months, she immediately consulted with Dr. Gina Crovato. Dr. Crovato told me that a recently identified defect in the hearing aid battery doors contributed to the loss of power & said she could replace them if I just brought in the hearing aids, which I did. My Mom had already seen another audiologist in Baltimore, who did not seem to be aware of this problem. My mother has since seen Dr. Kelsey Trinka, who is so patient, listens carefully and was able to make some needed adjustments in the hearing aids. My mother is slowing down & Dr. Trinka made sure she was comfortable & never rushed her. When another problem came up & I thought the warranty had expired on the hearing aids, Dr. Trinka took time to check the purchase/warranty papers from the Florida audiologist where the hearing aids were purchased, and verified with the manufacturer that the repair warranty is still valid for many months. I have accompanied my mother on multiple visits to audiologists in Pennsylvania, Maryland & Florida, as she moved. After her first pair of hearing aids were purchased in Pennsylvania, the audiologist said "See you in two years", as though her job, selling the hearing aids, was done. It takes considerable training & expertise to program hearing aids & I now understand that adjustments may be needed over several months to fine-tune programming as the wearer gets acclimated. This audiology practice is clearly committed to ensuring that the most up-to-date technology is working properly to service hearing impairment in a very patient-centered manner. I highly recommend this practice, because the purchase of hearing aids is not an end in itself; everyone needs competent follow-up support to make the most of that investment over time.

Then, about a year ago, I experienced a sudden and dramatic hearing loss in my left ear. Dr. Cravato suggested a cochlear implant and while I was nervous, she guided me through the process. Her support, deep listening, and encouragement over the years have made a world of difference. A shout out to Dr. Cravato and the staff at Hearing Associates of Northern Virginia for their professionalism and caring manner. I highly recommend this practice.

Arlington Hearing Center is just the BEST! Suzette at the front desk is friendly, welcoming,…read moreknowledgeable and great at followup. She made me feel good about my choice the minute I walked in the door and has continued to reinforce that feeling ever since. Dr. Romano is one of the finest professionals I have ever used. I have a common form of hearing loss that makes it difficult for me to hear conversation clearly-- and in a crowded busy, and noisy restaurant, it was next to impossible to hear anyone more than a foot away. I got very high end hearing aids in November of 2016, yet had more or less given up wearing them because-- they just did not get the job done. They were 'Ok' around the house, but useless in a noisy space. My problem ended when I put my problem in the hands of Dr. Romano. She reviewed my case, and provided additional explanation to me about my hearing loss. After the most comprehensive hearing test I have ever had, she made her recommendation. It seems that the hearing aids I got in 2016 had technology that was at least a 2-3 years older than that. In that short period of time, hearing aid technology made huge strides; and the latest high end hearing aids that I got as a result, are nothing short of amazing. Three times this week, I have been in busy restaurants, each more energetically noisier than the previous one. Every time, I could hear everyone at the table clearly. I missed no conversation. Perhaps even more importantly, I did not have to concentrate and strain to hear. What joy! What fun! What a relief! I feel like I got an entire section of my life back that I had given up as lost forever. After I got my hearing aids, I have been back 3 times to have them tweaked and to get a couple of accessories. Each time, both Suzette and Dr. Romano found little ways to make each visit go beyond answering my immediate question. I learned more and as a result I get more from my hearing aids. I am now listening to my audio books, when I am out walking and I have discovered that I can both hear and understand lyrics in songs. What pure bliss. Several years ago, my sister encouraged me to get hearing aids. She told me about an article that she read that said that hearing loss requires the brain to do extra work to make up for the loss. Once the hearing loss is corrected, cognitive tasks are easier and learning is faster. I agree. I feel smarter and more alert now. One last thing-- after I got my hearing aids, Dr. Romano did an additional hearing test and showed me graphically the dramatic improvement resulting from my hearing aids. I was amazed. Every frequency, except the very highest ones were again back in the normal range. My experience every day proves it. A day hasn't gone by when I have not had another discovery of how hearing better makes my life better. Your choice of professionals does make a difference and I am certain that Dr. Romano and Suzette provided the difference between a good experience and a great one. Use them! You won't be disappointed!

They have two locations: one in Arlington, and one in Lorton. I made an appointment with Dr. Scott Lanford, and he was just pure AWESOMEness - he was very informative, intelligent, honest, and had a great sense of humor! This clinic offers a complimentary hearing assessment, so if you think you are hard of hearing or need to get your hearing checked out in general, check this place out! Making an appointment was a breeze - Ms. Laura, one of the receptionists, was so sweet and got all the information down. When it's time for your appointment, the doc asks you a few questions, then does a tone test in a sound-proof booth. It's kind of like playing a game with a beeper, so with different pitch of tones, when you hear it, you press the beeper. There are posters and cute stuffed animals to visually 'calm' you. Then, the doc goes over your results and his recommendations. Definitely a wonderful place where you can obtain lots of great information in regards to everything hearing-related; definitely check them out! :D +complimentary hearing test! +ask for Dr. Scott Lanford! :D +appointment making is easy! +parking around residential area

A bit of my story...and then today (02032020)…read more Wearing these two top-of-the-line, bomb-diggity hearing aids has been a big help on my cognitivity. Well, at least I think so. Over the years I have prolly spent in excess of $15,000 out of pocket on hearing aids. There was the last occasion four and a half years ago when my daughter initiated a "Go Fund Me" campaign that netted $6,500 toward these two very powerful Phonak Nadia models. Thank you! For the last six to eight months I found that if I pulled on my earlobe (to open the canal) and cupped my hand behind my left "good ear" that I could pick up about forty-eight point four percent of the voice I focused on. My lip reading is most superior; bringing my cognitive ability to about seventy-five percent understanding. Not bad eh? Life is rich and God is Good, All the Time - I'm not one to complain to Him for why I'm made this way. Brings me to today...My appointment at Johns Hopkins was set a month ago. I was guarded on my expectation for this appointment, but eager nonetheless. Cooperating with Rachel the Audiologist at The Listening Center and the tests she performed in a never before experienced sound proof (psych proof) booth, I waited with my wife for the results. "Mr. T. she said, you have remarkable language skills and your lip reading is some of the best I have seen". She continued, "You are a prime candidate for the Cochlear Implant in your right ear as it is your worst side." As she turned it and pointed to the new hearing test print-out on her desk. I reached for a tissue and just wept. "Medicare pays everything for the Cochlear Implant too." "Did you hear me Mr. T.?" She looked at my wife and said "Let's just give him a minute." That was Monday morning. It's looking like it may go quick as I have my CT scan tomorrow 02042020 and I meet with the surgeon on the 26th.
