Please be ware of this business. Every time I would bring my vehicle in a new 'issue' would occur afterwards. They had to fix my front bumper and I had to take it back three times for it to be how it should! I'm a woman and they always talk down to me. My car was leaking transmission fluid and they said 'oh that's normal'. I'm sorry but that's not normal for a vehicle to leak transmission oil. They did end up working on the transmission and then my vehicle started making a noise that did not occur when I dropped it off, when I asked they 'had no idea what the issue was'. An employee of theirs admitted that when they don't know how to do something they YouTube it, really? I had to buy a new vehicle because they YouTube'd something and ruined my vehicle. Please be ware of this business. I would hate for someone to have the same issues I have, and many close family friends have had as well. read more

My Jeep was having some issues with its front axle shaft. Took it to Tollmans and they "couldn't find anything wrong with it", despite the fact that the cv axle connected to the shaft in question could move up and down with the flex of my pinky and was very obviously screwed up. Took it to endings to see if I was crazy or if the whole front diff needed to be rebuilt. They said the cv axle was screwy and the axle shaft was worn down, but the diff itself was fine. They got it fixed and I haven't had a problem with it since. They were super understanding and surprisingly patient when Chrystler wanted to screw around and be extra slow on getting them the new axle shaft (which took a whole freaking week, due to Chrysler's Inability to do inventory counts correctly and get in gear to get the part on the way). Overall, they did a good job diagnosing what was wrong and fixed it. read more

I have been going to Ensing's for almost 10 years. Never been anywhere else since we moved. No reason to do so. Chuck and his staff have proven to me time and time again that they are professional, knowledgeable and most importantly HONEST. Which cannot be said about a lot of repair facilities these days. It would take me several pages of examples for every car I've taken there. As I'm writing this, two of my cars are being repaired there. I used to travel a lot and I can't say how helpful Ensing's has been in helping my wife when her car broke down. I know that I can always depend on them. read more

I had a similar experience as Kelly B. I was having an issue with my car. I am by no means a car expert, but at the same time I do know how to fix a thing or two. So, when I got a "Service Engine Soon" light, I took the car to AutoZone and hooked it up to their analyzer tool to see if the problem might be one I could fix myself. The tool diagnosed the problem as a bad sensor (this took all of two minutes to diagnose). I determined the sensor wasn't immediately accessible, and since I didn't have a garage to take stuff apart and do the replacement in (it was winter) I decided to take it somewhere to get fixed. I dropped off the car, with a detailed explanation of the problem, as diagnosed with the diagnostic tool. They said they'd take a look at it and give me a quote. Later that day they called me with the quote: they wanted $650 to replace a $50 sensor in my car! They justified the high cost on the basis that it was "hard to get to". Sure, it wasn't immediately-accessible, but after looking at some diagrams online, it became obvious to me that $600 in labor was not justified to replace the sensor. When I told them I didn't have $650 to spend on replacing the sensor, they then requested a "diagnostic" fee of around $70 for their time. This really frustrated me, since I knew that all they did was hook up the diagnostic tool (which I did at AutoZone in two minutes) and fed to me the diagnosis from the tool (which I already knew). I wouldn't have minded paying them something reasonable for their time, but $70!? Come on, guys! I know of people who have had much better luck at Tolman's down the road. The only thing with Tolman's is that they are usually pretty busy and may take a few days to get to your car. That tells you something about the quality of the work they do, though. read more

My son is attending GRCC. His car was leaking coolant. He brough to Ensigns and they wanted to charge him $268. He took it down the road the road to Allendale Auto Service and they charged him $171. It pays to shop around......saved my son $97.00 which is a lot for a young man in college. read more

When I went to pick up my car (before they closed), the clerk was on the phone with someone who DID get finished: Ensing's discovered why his/her car's dome light stayed on, and they changed the oil.... for a mere $176!! My car sat there for more than nine hours without even getting thought about! Now THAT is customer service! read more

I am extremely unsatisfied with the lack of help and incorrect information Ensings has given me. My story is long and complicated but i am a college student also a girl and i feel that this company has really tried to take advantage of me and my lack of knowledge. I called around and found prices thousands of dollars less than what they wanted me to pay. The overall rudeness and $1000 coming out of no where on my estimate of thins we never talked about has made me write this review to stop anyone who is getting work through them. Hmmm. I tried this place when my car decided to not go over 30 MPH because it was close, and got decent reviews on Google. The staff were friendly enough, but the compliments end there. I was told that my catalytic converter was clogged, and that it would cost $1100 to replace, which was the most expensive price I was told after I shopped around. Then, even after my father told them on the phone that we weren't going to have them do it, they didn't have the car put back together when I went to pick it up, so my kind roommate had to make two trips for me to pick the dang thing up. I later took my car to Liberty Muffler in Jenison because they were going to do the exact same thing for about $500 (a SIX HUNDRED DOLLAR DIFFERENCE?! Come on now, Ensing's!). I was told that my catalytic converter was fine; it was my timing belt. So, if I hadn't gotten a second opinion (which is hard to do with a car that won't run), I could have spent $1100 on something I didn't even need replaced (not that I have that kind of money, but still!)! I already have a hard time trusting auto repair places, and this experience did not help. read more

Horrible! College student, (only $5 GVSU discount in which I had to ask) asked for an estimate was told $400 they took my car for over a week and didn't even look at it.Finally after calling several times, ONLY 2 hours worth of labor spent $600, which was $200 more than the estimate they told me on a cooling line with there "life time labor warranty" ended up leaving the place and they put a hole in my radiator!! Called them to ask them how they were going to compensate since I was stranded on the side of the road and they told me I would have to bring the car there and I would be responsible for towing fees! Had the car inspected and was told there was a perfect size whole drilled into the plastic on my radiator! OH YEAH THEY SEEM LIKE GREAT PEOPLE UNTIL YOU PAY THEM AND LEAVE now I am just waiting to see what auto problems they are going to cause next! SCAMMERS I will make sure everyone knows the truth! And my attorney will be contacting them! TOO SMALL OF A TOWN TO BE THAT CORRUPT AND STAY IN BUSINESS! read more
