An absolutely beautiful venue located right on Broad Street. The quality of performances and elegant atmosphere make this such a wonderful time. Ticket prices can vary based on the performance you see and when you purchase. Further ahead of time or at a matinee you can typically get better deals. As a side note - the snack bar outside of the theater is nothing to speak of so get some food/drinks ahead of time (although they did just put in a new restaurant in the building!). Because the venue is right in center city make sure you have some extra time (and cash) to park.

Orchestra coming on stage

We have been going to Philadelphia Orchestra concerts for years and have thoroughly enjoyed them. From Mozart to Dvorak, to Beethoven and Respighi, the list goes on and on. The night is made more exciting if you know at least one of the pieces they are performing. To this point, I have never thought to write a review. We just attended "The Princess Bride in Concert" at the KImmel Center, where the movie was shown above the stage directly behind the orchestra. The actual movie orchestral soundtrack has been removed and the entire score is performed by the Orchestra. The sound was absolutely amazing and so perfectly timed, you almost forget to take your eyes off the movie every so often and watch the Orchestra performing. It was fun watching Orchestra members looking up at the screen when they had nothing to play. This is our second such concert - the first being the Indiana Jones movie Raiders of the Lost Arc. This again was very exciting and entertaining. A totally fun and new way to enjoy both a fantastic orchestra and a favorite movie. Highly recommended!

What an amazing theater to be able to see a show. I visited the theater to see Hamilton and the show was phenomenal but the theater experience was even better. We had balcony seats and they were great. The theater is beautiful and the staff was really helpful. The best part of the theater was the space you had between you and the row in front of you and behind. You had plenty of space to get comfortable. The acoustics were perfect. The only negative thing I would say about the theater was the fact they would not allow you to bring the beverage or snack you purchase at their concessions. It would have been nice to enjoy a drink and snack with the show but the experience was so good that it didn't even matter. I am so looking forward to the next show already.

Kimmel center is an amazing place. Culture, drinks, music, design, food? Everything in one on Broad street. Recently went to see organ day at the Kimmel center. I didn't realize how amazing the Philadelphia orchestra was. They are super mindblowing. The architecture there is pretty amazing even if you don't like the music scene (worth checking out).

Great to see a Christmas concert at the Merriam theater. Black Violin was awesome. The seats we had were fantastic with a clear view of the stage. However, the actual seats are too close together. When the theater was built, the seats were placed close to another like a school auditorium. It isn't ideal for people of varying heights or sizes; especially if you have long legs. As movie theaters have done, I think a renovation sometime soon should be considered.

The Kimmel Center is back open for business. Stopped by for a comedy show and the check in process was easy. Before entering, be ready with your proof of vaccination and a photo id. This will be required to step into the building. Masks are required to be worn while in the building. Things to know: -bring proof of vaccination and a photo id -tickets bought online, no need to print the ticket. The barcode can be scanned from your phone -guest WiFi available -if you are looking to save some money by purchasing tickets directly from the on-site box office, plan ahead. The window hours have changed, check a day or two before you plan on going.

A fantastic location to see a world class performance. There's really not a bad seat in the house, audibly and visually. The design fits a traditional, east coast performing arts center - classy, darker colors/wood. The food and drinks are about what you'd expect, some decent wine and cocktail selections. Everyone is well-trained and helpful, always a pleasure to visit. Seeing the Philadelphia Orchestra should be a must-see event for anyone with even a passing interest in music and the arts. This venue succeeds in enhancing the experience and making it one you'll never forget.

Probably the best performance we've ever been at of Les Miserable. Words cannot describe it. My first show at the Academy of Music was in the sky deck as far up as you can go. That was 12 years or so ago. Learned my lesson. Been sitting in Box 30 since. Park 1/2 block away in the Bellevue Stratford parking lot. Valet if you want it. We prefer to park ourself as the wait is much to long to get your car. Always eat across the street at Estia on Locust St. Sit a the bar if there's room. More like a Cheers Bar. Always a fun time, great food and super drinks. Fantastic service.

Incredible orchestra venue in Verizon Hall

This is THE place to see a show. We have seen two Broadway shows and the Philadelphia Orchestra play and we cannot get enough. The facilities are awesome, the staff is really professional, the food/drinks are fairly priced, and the ambiance is electric. Truly love being able to go time and time again to be "transported" into another world. Highly, highly recommend!

Buyers, beware! There was an egregious misrepresentation of ticket options for the recent John Cleese performance. Kimmel's ticketing website clearly stated on two different pages that all VIP tickets included a post-show photograph with Mr. Cleese. Just before the event, however, it was unsympathetically explained that only Golden Circle tickets included the post-show photograph. In reality, the website explained that Golden Circle tickets only included a poster. Complaining to Patron Services, they absolutely refused to acknowledge what any reasonable person would deem false advertising. Terribly disappointing, not to mention illegal.

On Broad Street, it is called all about performing art. If you love musical, The Kimmel Center will be your favorite place to go. Beautiful theater and great musical shows! This theater is walking distance to City Hall. Many other tourist attractions nearby as well.

Was able to see Cruel Intentions at the Kimmel Center last week. Seats were comfortable and everything was handicap accessible. Great venue! I'd love to come back to see other shows as well. Note...there was no bar on the balcony so grab your seats before you come up!

Went to see Les Miserables and they only have one person working the concession stand on the balcony level. Total irritation.

You can actually settle in without fidgeting the whole show. The lobby is tiny though, so getting in and out feels a little chaotic, especially during the holidays. It gives slight fire-hazard energy, but I get it. Popular show, peak season, everyone trying to squeeze in at once. Inside, everything is dressed up for the holidays with cute, festive decor. Staff was super friendly. Tickets were scanned fast and they were really attentive, especially helping older guests find their seats. Bathrooms are one floor down. I overheard someone with a cane trying to figure out ADA options, so accessibility could be easier to navigate. Restrooms were stocked but could use more frequent cleaning, which is pretty normal for a packed show. Overall, solid experience. Expect crowds and lots of foot traffic, but the vibe and performances make it worth it. Excited to come back for the Sherlock Holmes show.

I especially love the Yelp Elite perk of being invited on opening night. This evening marked two firsts for me. In the past this was a Yelp Elite Event for squad members only. This time we were invited individually and allowed a plus one. And much to my surprise my guest and I got front row seats. They usually have a nice little cocktail hour after the show that mostly consists of beer, wine, crudites and cheese boards. I was impressed to find some serious hor d'oeuvres this time around. Macaroni and cheese balls, chicken sliders, skewered beef tenderloin. All it was delicious. Wonderful experience.

Even after the performance, people were hanging around just to look at the theater and take it all in. Staff eventually had to usher people out because no one wanted to leave. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional. The place is clean and very well maintained. One thing to watch out for is seat selection. In the balcony, some seats have a pole partially blocking the view of the stage, which is frustrating if you do not realize it ahead of time. Definitely double check before buying. I loved the live subtitles for the opera. Such a thoughtful touch and makes the whole experience much more accessible. Now that Theatre Exile is on my radar, I definitely want to come back. Small shows can end up being gems and this was one of them. The show itself was geared towards late 20's but I think anyone can enjoy it. Told through a series of phone conversations, it was an interesting play. The theater itself was easy to find. They had strict COVID restrictions that included showing your vax card and requiring to wear your mask. I think people who enjoy theater don't have a problem with this kind of request but if it does bother you, go elsewhere. The riser seating section is not very big so it's a pretty intimate setting. They had all gender bathrooms that were clean. Very close to the BSL so easily accessible to most people in the city. I can't wait for another excuse to come see a show here.

I can't say this enough for Philadelphia Theatre: Prepare to be surprised by the performances and…read morethe venues. Theatre Exile put up a great production of "Glengary Glen Ross" in Spring 2007 and the space was another hidden treasure. The cast was filled with tenured actors that gave unique performances that came together in a singular production. It was my first show with this production company and if it was at all representative of their other shows, you'll definately see me going back to see more productions in the future. The mission of this company is to "produce risky and challenging plays that contain a sense of true Philadelphian grittiness and passion" by staging both new and established works. In addition, their focus is on letting tenured and up and coming artists work their craft while trying to find themselves as theatre artists. After speaking with someone on the phone over at the Theatre Exile box office, it was confirmed that they have and will probably continue to use the theater at the Christ Church Neighborhood House at 20 N. American Street. Ready for another suprise venue like Latvian Society theater (see my review for Pig Iron Theatre Company)? Well, on the THIRD floor of this church, there is a former basketball court that has been transformed into a black box theater. Imagine, the half court line is the edge of the stage. One half of the space is a platform with folding chairs as seats (nearly 100 or maybe more), and the other half is all space for the actors to play. It was rather stunning as the bare wood frame for the building is exposed and painted black. So, now for the things to watch for: This theater is NOT handicap accesible. No elevator and a lot of walking (check to see if everyone in your party is capable of walking up several flights of stairs). Bathrooms for men are located in the basement meaning that you'll be going down four floors. Late seating is often not possible as the stage is only 5 feet away from the front row. This company is one of the major players in the Philadelphia area. Make sure you make it to a show if you're in the area. Tickets are normally priced between $15-$40 and there are discounts available for students/seniors as well as Philly FunSaver discounts.

GA shows are not easy to attend because chances are, you will run into a more rowdier crowd. Here is how I prepared myself the day of to ease some of my anxiety: - Go early to secure a good spot to stand at. - Drink lots of water before going. You don't want to lose your space by going to the restroom. Expect to stand for 4+ hours. - Eat a good meal, you don't want to faint. - Wear comfortable shoes. We left on a Friday night from New Jersey to Philly during rush hour in mad traffic. Got to the venue 20 minutes before the show started and I was so surprised to get a spot in the first row in front of the stage. I was like...no wayyyy!!! Acoustic here transmitted pitch perfectly. My videos do not do it justice. The sound was incredible. I think I danced every second of every moment. We really lucked out with some of the nicest people around us. While dancing at one point, a girl tapped me on the shoulder and said..."you're like the only one dancing and I think that's awesome that you're not afraid to do so". I replied, it's frickin Bob Moses, how can you not dance? Loved that I got to dance with a couple of the wild girls standing near me. Lol. Staff here are extremely friendly. One of the security guards below the stage was nice enough to ask if I wanted any water. There are a few bar areas for alcoholic drinks and small bites. Highly recommend this cool a$$ venue. It was standing room only for this show but seats were available for an extra $200 in the upper mezzanine, first come first serve. Restrooms: clean and plenty of stalls.
