A comedy show that encourages/essentially requires drinking? Count. Me. In…read more I had a blast at this show last Saturday night with a couple of friends. We had purchased our $15 tickets separately and on different days, but when we walked in (through Urban Saloon) before the 8 p.m. show, my friends offered their names and then the host/actress turned to me and said, "And let me guess, are you Kathleen *Last-Name*?" I have NO IDEA how she guessed that. There were a ton of people there! Even more interesting: They appeared to know that we were one of the parties that wanted food and we were seated at the (only?) table with three chairs. I don't know if that was just happenstance because we arrived early enough for a table or what, but I definitely recommend trying to snag one of the tables that wrap around the chairs. Why? Well, because Urban offers $6 flights on select beer options (among other affordable full-size beer options) and it's tough to sit on a chair with a flight. Yeah. Six bucks for four little beers. Nuts. And trust me, you're going to want that flight for the roughly hour and a half-long show. The show is a mix of drinking-related skits and interactive bits, like classic drinking games. For the games, they would roam the audience and call on people. It's likely that I looked mortified when they chose me for a "Would You Rather?" question. It involved puppies and grandmothers and other things that I will not type in a review. It's possible that all the beer has made an impact on my five-star rating. I assume this would not seem quite as hilarious while sober. But while slightly tipsy? Hello, Hello, Fun!

What a great venue for emerging theatre!…read more I went here with a friend to see Bob: A Life in Five Acts and it was a great time! As I walked in, the will-call was right in front of me and they had my tickets ready for me. Inside it's clean and the lobby is well lit. The space opens up nicely - allowing for the crowd to mosey around until show time. There's also a small bar set up with libations and snacks and a self coat check. The show itself was great - funny, enlightening, and thought provoking - told through a coming-of-age narrative. I felt there wasn't a bad seat in the whole house. The seating was stadium style so I was able to comfortably view the play without having to bob around the back of someone's head. The acoustics were great, and the performances were spot on! The Azuka tends to provide support for smaller productions showcasing new and rising talent, and I'm glad I was able to have the chance to enjoy this show brimming with potential! Would def recommend checking out this theatre and the show!

I've never been a huge theater person but after this experience, I really look forward to coming back for other shows!

The company features contemporary theatre from Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales, and they're not works you'll find performed elsewhere in the area. The ticket prices are really a bargain for the quality of the work, especially for their Pop-up Play in a Pub series where you get dinner and a show! Highly recommend grabbing a ticket to one of their upcoming performances. I anticipate being a season ticket holder for many seasons to come.

The staff is very polite, especially when you enter in the wrong way and get lost. Someone is always willing to help bring you to the right location. I've had a meeting in the ballroom which is connected to a backyard garden. I think this is where weddings are usually held. But it makes a great space for corporate meetings as well.Breakfast and lunch was also provided. Breakfast consisted of eggs, bagels, pastries and turkey sausage. I had a peach pastry and it was delicious! I think they used star anise to flavor the peach filling. Lunch we had potatoes, steak, salad, grain salad, and a medley of sandwiches. The space was large enough for my company to mingle but not feel empty. When we did have meetings in the ballroom, you could hear the kitchen staff blast their music. It was sorta comic relief to all day meetings. The trophy room is the most enjoyable! I've ordered too many drinks there. The bartenders are always polite when making your drink. I've never seen a bartender look annoyed and they make the drinks is care. The best dirty martini I've ever had was at the filter club. The first Negroni I've had was at the fitler club and the bartender told me to let the ice dilute it a little and it made the Negroni delicious. The trophy room has bowling alleys, arcade games, and hoops on the first floor. There was also a table set up with Mediterranean snacks like hummus, kebabs, pita sandwiches etc. the second floor is where the pool table, ping pong, connect 4 are located. Having a ping pong table on the second floor is risky lol the ball kept falling down to the first floor. There's also a photo booth that we couldn't figure out the password to. Fitler Club markets itself as a premium experience. The space is well appointed, but for the price,…read moreI expected more polish than I found. I was in Philadelphia on business and had scheduled a tour with someone from the membership team. I visit the city only occasionally, so I was more interested in understanding how the club works than in joining. When I arrived, the receptionist said she wasn't sure what was going on, and instead of the tour I'd scheduled, I was directed to a member appreciation mixer. The mixer was fine for what it was, but it was loud, a bit disorganized, and cliquish. That's not unusual for a members' event, but it's not where I'd send a prospective visitor who came in to get a feel for the place. I ended up talking with a member who belongs to several clubs, and he gave me the tour himself. He was generous with the inside scoop. He spoke highly of some of the amenities but said others, along with a lot of the food, aren't worth what they cost. He also put Fitler in context by comparing it to a nearby establishment that operates at a much higher tier and is far more exclusive. Fitler presents itself as part social club and part gym, and it leans on the idea that pro athletes train there. The gym didn't strike me as one a serious professional athlete would choose. What I saw is closer to a lifestyle club built around co-working space than a gym. That isn't a bad thing, but it isn't my kind of place. If I traveled to Philadelphia regularly and needed somewhere to work near Center City and the train station, I'd give it a harder look. The location is hard to beat, and the people I met were friendly. I didn't stay at the hotel, so this review covers only the club, based on a couple of hours on site. For a certain clientele and budget, Fitler Club probably makes a lot of sense. My issue is the gap between the pitch and the product. It's going for a gritty, athletic edge it doesn't fully pull off, and it's priced for a level of polish it doesn't deliver. I give it three stars for a great location and good bones, held back by a premium price on an experience that falls short of premium.
