The group I was with spontaneously planned to see a show at FringeArts being performed by a local circus school (Circadium). I had never been to FA before and it was an experience. The pros: -Was pleasantly surprised by the show. The performer (who were about to graduate from Circadium) were extremely talented. Not sure how other shows are at FA but this one was great. -Tickets were $15, very reasonable -Seats were socially distanced, after each group three seats were left empty to allow for spacing. Also the audience was seated in every other row. -Masks and hand sanitizer were readily available. The cons: -If you are planning to see a show, buy your tickets in advance if you can. Or plan to pay in cash. If you want to buy tickets at the front desk, there is only one credit card machine and it is extremely slow. It took our group a solid 10 mins to get tickets. -With all the social distancing protocols, it would be convenient if one was seated on the end of a row to be able to cross the front row and climb up the stairs, versus having people get up to let you in. -When asked about the show we were going to see, none of the employees at the front desk knew anything about the show. I would advise having the people working to be able to give the show's general description. Overall I would recommend taking the time to catch a show at FA. Be prepared to be exposed to something new. Just buy your tickets online or have cash ready if you are buying at the front box office. read more

Well, we just got back from a fantastic weekend performing an interactive piece called "Life Traveler." The festival was supportive and so organized. In a culture of mass produced entertainment, this is the place to go for unique experiences. We hope to perform this work on bridges across the world! Thanks Philly Fringe. read more

I don't know why but I really like this place. It was quiet when I was there & it seemed artsy, quaint and pretty cool considering it's location. The bartender was very friendly & cool. My friend & I ordered our meal in reverse starting with dessert. We had the co let topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, marshmallows & an oh so perfect ginger spice cookie. Omg, the thought of it makes my eyes water, it was heavenly. Our entree was the grilled salmon served on a bed of tabouleh w/ broccoli rabe which was good, something was missing but I can't remember what. We finished it so I guess it didn't take away from it too much (lol) we ordered the buffalo wings last and they were ok (I'm not a huge wing person). I really want to go back for the cobbler, it was soooooooo good. read more

This is the first year that I have attended Fringe Art events. Fringe is on my must do list from now on. First I saw the Free Fringe one person play "All 100 Fires" was written and played by Donna Oblongata. This play plunged into many intersecting topics... dealing with our struggle for survival and dignity... our self destructive and violent nature... the hypocrisy found in our heroes. Donna Oblongata has something important to say here and she says it well through this play. Second is The Sea Voyage. This show held at the Seaport Museum is a rollicking comedy of buffoonery ... with ship wrecked crews... staving men... man hungry women... deception by all. This place is amazing! I had this blackberry drink which was amazing I think I got drunk off of 2-3 because they were so good I just kept drinking. I tried the watermelon one but personally I wasn't a fan of it! It's so close to the water front and Penn's Landing! Perfect place to chill with family and friends to grab a drink. read more

This place exudes cool. Nestled inside a very hip restaurant - at first when I walked in I was a little confused. I was there for the affinity movie premier and the hostess cheerfully told me to walk behind the bar and make a left. We snaked through a hallway and walked into a giant theater! The seats were cushy, the crowd was awesome and the movie screening was super interesting and very very good! The atmosphere was next level. Walking through the concrete passageway I almost imagined we were doing something sneaky - Which made the experience that much better. I will be back soon! It's a great space and now that I know about it - it's a tremendous location for a date night. Art for the win read more

I've always looked at this building when it was vacant and wondered why someone didn't do something cool with it. The architecture, the size, the location - everything about it is great. FringeArts finally took it over and renovated it! I went to a show this past weekend called The Room Nobody Knows. I know Fringe shows are supposed to be weird and this one fit the bill. It was as weird as possible in every single way, on every single level. I'm not sure I even have words to describe it. You can read online reviews or just go see it in person. It was very entertaining. The theater itself is very nice and new and the seats are on a steep grade so you don't have to worry about your view being obstructed. There are cupholders in the arm rests so you don't have to leave your beer at the door. There was a bit of trouble getting everyone seated initially for the show, but hopefully they'll work out those kinks soon. I hear there is an onsite bar and restaurant in the works, so can't wait for that to open too. read more

The Fringe has a very nice atmosphere inside and out. I really liked the open layout and the ability to see the kitchen work. There is a upstairs inside that allows for additional seating. It reminded me of some parts of Brooklyn but with a Philadelphia twist! The food was hot and fairly good. The service was attentive and nice - she was certainly the best part of the overall experience. Although there is nothing terribly bad about the fringe, I wouldn't say it's a "must try" location. It is a great spot to stumble on and grab some food while walking the pier. I wouldn't specifically write it down as the best place in Philadelphia. The food was good but not fantastic. read more

Went here and was extremely disappointed with the food service and experience. First off our parking ticket was supposed to be discounted to 15 dollars but it was 30 for some reason. We then waited over 2 hours for our food which was ridiculous, and it was very loud there. The seat we were at was also very uncomfortable. I ordered the pub burger without onions but even after waiting 2 hours for it, it still had onions on it. On top of that they were basically out of half their menu, and there was no indication that they were out of anything before we came. We won't be coming back here for sure. read more

I went to see Penny Arcade, who is always BRILLIANT... it's a great space in an extremely cool location, literally under a beautiful bridge! The bar is really pretty, and hip, but without the attitude... the bar and door staff were laid back, friendly, and attentive. They've got a great sound system! It's a truly wonderful space. I loved everything about it - we didn't eat, but the food looked and smelled fantastic, so next time we will have dinner there!!! read more

I came here for a production of Twelfth Night, or What You Will. Location/Ambience: The location isn't very convenient - it's not located near a SETPA rail. I took the bus from center city here. Well, it's not a far walk from old city. The building is a bit janky - it's a semi-restored warehouse, empty space for the main area. There may be one more theatre space, I doubt it, but the line extends into the main area, if you're lining up. It's no frills, no renovations really. I'm fine with that. The theatre space itself is decent. Stadium seating, room for up to 200 people maybe? I arrived half an hour before the show started and was 10th in line. I got great seats. Show: Superb acting, funny, dramatic, lovely. It was $26.50 for a college student pricing. Well worth it. read more

Went to see Tommy & Me by Ray Didinger. Sat at the bar at La Peg and had a great time. Exceptional cheese fries with sautéed beef on top, uniquely flavored wings were very good and the grill cheese was really good. Awesome beers on tap. Play was great. read more

A pretty cool space to catch live music and "The peg" outdoor area is one of the more underrated beer gardens/outdoor spaces in Philadelphia. Pretty good location and not too terribly crowded. read more

Saw Faye Driscoll's second installment of Thank You for Coming here last night. Such a creative biopsy of human emotion by a talented and hard-working troupe. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing what else FringeArts has to offer. read more

Friends and I went to see The Real Housewives of South Philly at L'Etage last night, performed by the Waitstaff. I could not stop laughing. These are seriously talented actors and they were hilarious! It feels so nice to be in a cozy setting, not being charged an arm and a leg to see dead-on impressions. Justin Bieber, Rachel Maddow and the Real Housewives of South Philly all in the same play? Who could ask for anything more? I have heard mixed review about other Fringe performances, but if you can get tickets to this play, do it NOW! read more

Great building and location, excellent theater and productions. Tickets can be a bit pricey, but discounts are usually available through FunSavers, hitting up previews or if you know someone in the biz. Really psyched about the potential of the Fringe's new home! read more

located along the penn's landing section of the city, they offer live performances every year. i think that it does in fact cost money to get in rather than being a free event. i know that they have a large gathering during some of the shows. read more

I went to see "el año en que yo naci". Very intense, creative. But the venue seats were a little stiff, not a lot of leg room. Good view due to theater incline seating. Parking sucks. Bathrooms were clean. read more
