The bathrooms were pretty clean and they had plenty of stalls, so no need to wait in a long line. We had seats on the balcony, and the staff was kind enough to escort us to our seats. The view was solid and the sound quality was great. The balcony seats felt relatively comfortable. Like most venues, drinks and food can be a bit pricy. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my strawberry vodka lemonade. The nachos were a little weird -- carrot does not belong on nachos. The chicken on the nachos was still juicy though. I wouldn't mind coming back for another show here.

This review is off Lawn Seating specifically, so I cannot speak to the upgraded, designated assigned seating scenario, but having to rent a chair and not having the ability to bring your own, in addition to the mad dash for "the best seat up front," really isn't the personal vibe I'm going for when I'm seeing live music, but I guess that's just me being old. Drinks were expensive as can be assumed at any concert, and for the Hilary Duff concert specifically, they only had a certain number of the coveted microphone drink toppers, which I don't exactly think is fair (even though me myself was able to get one). I just don't understand creating a craze over a souvenir cup and then only having like 100 or so actually for sale..... it just does not make sense to me in 2026 when everything is mass produced and a regular Joe-Schmo can 3-D print anything plastic in his basement. I didn't eat here because I didn't want to take out a small mortgage to do so. And if my review wasn't already bleak enough, the public transit situation is absolutely asinine. I waited over an hour for a bus, all of which passed me because they were full and ended up sharing an uber with some girls I overheard were going to my neighborhood. I'm sorry, but if you know that you're having a huge concert, please make sure that there are extra SEPTA buses (or designated shuttles), waiting to ferry people out of this super far, basically remote part of the city. Overall not impressed and probably won't be back based on my lackluster experience.

The journey sets the tone, and once you're inside, the artistic expressions all over the space give it a gritty, creative, Philly vibe. Entry was smooth and well-organized. Drink prices were on the higher side (pretty much what you'd expect for a live music venue), but they do offer a light food menu, which was a nice bonus. Seating is limited, but it honestly didn't matter -- the space manages to feel intimate while still giving you room to move and breathe. We saw York Street Hustle perform an Amy Winehouse tribute, and they were phenomenal. The sound quality was strong, the energy was right, and the venue really amplified the performance. If you're looking for a unique, intimate spot to see live music in Philly, Underground Arts absolutely delivers.

WST is all you'd expect for an old theater house in the city. The theater itself is somewhat…read moresizeable but not like Academy of Music or other big venue playhouses in Philly, and I liked the vibe of historic character and a size that once housed a much greater portion of the city's theater crowd than it does proportionately today. Old balconies and the upper mezz tier were full of charm as they keep the theater updated while retaining Victorian-meets-Deco motifs. The view from Orchestra left, row J, far outside aisle seats was beyond expectations. I was wary of being on the outer aisle but visibility was absolutely perfect! There was also an actual live orchestra playing every score from a pit under the stage. A couple of things were drawbacks. One, I understand that the production company is a separate entity from the theater so when our performance was delayed due to "technical difficulties" it could be a cast issue or an actual issue with the house. If the latter, then shame on WST for not having their sh!t together to be ready for the show. I have a gut feeling that a cast member missed a train and was late. Why? I've been to a lot of theater and when they wait until TEN MINUTES past showtime to disclose a "technical issue" it's usually a late cast member or last-minute need for an understudy. In this case, not only was the announcement past curtain, but after the 40min delay, there were zero technical issues throughout the performance and usually technical issues don't completely resolve if they took that long to rectify in the first place. That said, regardless of whose issue was delaying showtime, the house ought to have been on top of hospitality for their patrons and ought to have announced this delay 10 min PRIOR to showtime rather than after. Not only that, but when finally announced, they had had us packed in like sardines in the very small lobby and everyone was hot, miserable, and coughing on one another. Inexcusable. The fact that most of the patrons were Baby Boomers using senior decline as an excuse to behave narcissistically abusively (a trait they've championed their whole lives) made the situation unbearable. So while so many other elements were 10 stars, THIS knocks a TON off my average. Another negative, I'm all about supporting the arts and concessions help keep this theater afloat. But an airplane snack bag of pretzels for $4, and single whiskey (44-50ml, probably 44ml) for $17 is not even affordable to me! Sheesh! A half pint (200ml) of Maker's is $9.99 and 375ml is $15.50! I enjoy max 1-2 drinks about 2-5 times per YEAR, so I am not UTD on bar rates but Google says a half-pour at a bar on average is $5-$12, and I was actually expecting $10-$12 but wow, not 850% markup! Worse, no prices are posted for anything so they waste time lining people up when half of them either forfeit a ridiculous sum for the cheapest one little thing out of guilt, or walk away insulted like I did. Many positives with the structure and character of the old theater, and great views and sound, including authentic orchestra pit, but mismanaging delays, and bilking for concessions made the experience disappointing in ways it doesn't need to be. Hit Wawa across the street for snacks and hide a flask in your bag if you want a drink.

They fill up the space with people but it does not feel cramped and it's easy to sneak out to the bathroom even if you are on the other side of the room.

Their ongoing programming is the ComedySportz program. Short form improv that is guaranteed to make you laugh. The performers are INSANELY talented and you can't go wrong with a good BYO. They do other programming throughout the year as well - long form improv, classes, workshops, bringing in popular acts from other cities, and welcoming in collegiate groups as well. As always, I highly recommend sitting in the front, or as close to front as possible. The perfomance: this was our first visit to the N Crowd but we are very experienced improv-consumers. The group of 6 performers played in a short-form improv style with small and quick "games" and they were fantastic. If you're familiar with improv, you know not everyone in the scene will be hitting every beat, but when one may have skipped, another cast member stepped in and continued right along. The bottom line: the value for your dollar is AMAZING with the N crowd. I highly recommend a visit for a good time.
