We saw Israel's Inbal Pinto & Avshalom Pollak Dance Company perform Oyster here last month and we were quite pleased with the clean, (albeit dated) contemporary and spacious setting. The Annenberg Center is located across the street from Pod restaurant and public parking, so getting out to Philly for dinner and a show is quite convenient. I like to think that I am a Tim Burton follower and this performance was intended to mimic his expression and style. The production was indistinct and gritty which I typically enjoy but the cast seemed to work so hard at making this show weird that sadly, it wasn't weird anymore; just confusing but still an enjoyable event.

House venue that tries to host unique shows on Fridays and Saturdays. But it's also trying to do more with film and potlucks. I went down here to hang out with my friends Seizure 17 and was instantly impressed. It had a fresh mix of bands that I either haven't seen on the house show circuit before, or where mixing it up at a new house for the first time. And that's the way it should be. there was some fresh looking art in the living room, and the basement venue was pretty big. At 6'5" I had no trouble standing up without bumping my head, and even had a bit of room to get my dance on. They were even cool enough to let my friends set up a video screen for their set. Chernobyl is maintained by Da Comrade, a Philly band I haven't had the chance to hear yet (might be taking care of that after Rum Bar when they play with my friends again). But I've heard nothing but good things and they've played with some great bands like Agent Moosehead and Saudi Arabia. Looks like there are no shows coming up in May, but definitely try to scope the venue out on Mysapce to see what their cooking up for June.

Despite starting a bit later, due to a group ahead of us, we were able to upgrade our Groupon to play multiple games. Then the set up from there was quick and easy. The VR games the staff facilitate really are a lot of fun, even for non-gamers like me. It's also just enough activity to work up a sweat, but not enough to drain you. You will laugh and shout a lot and truly feel submersed for a good hour. I was glad we paid extra to upgrade, as we got to play a variety of games with different degrees of difficulty. The staff was great, guiding us the whole time, and the lounge has a waiting area with TVs and music. It was a dope experience.
