This place is so deceiving. It looks beautiful, but it is completely understaffed. On weekends,…read moreit is a ghost town. We paid for a very high level of care for my mother during her last few months, but it was terrible. I found her on many occassions still in bed after pushing her call button for over 30 minutes for someone to help her. Sometimes she lay there for hours without anyone checking on her. We had to hire supplemental help. Some of the staff were very kind when you could find them. However, the turnover was constant. No one that was a good caregiver lasted over 45 days. They pay a measley $13.50 per hour, even though the cost to the residents is the most expensive in the area. They have so many empty beds. Do not put your loved ones here. It's such a shame. It is a beautiful facility and we expected so much more for this price. We would have care conferences and they would promise the moon and that everything would get better. It never did.

They are extremely understaffed and under trained. Unreliable. Slobs and rude to the clients. Once I went there to check on him and his bed was made backwards His fitted sheet then his COMFORTER, then his top sheet on top. Serious you cannot make this up!! I brought my husband home with me for a family party. When he returned on Sunday night - his bedding was in the washing machine. Turns out it was there since Friday AM when I picked him up. They FORGOT to put it in the dryer and make his bed. So his sheets were mildewed and ruined. Thank goodness he had a spare set there So I could make his bed that night myself. He also had 3 soaking wet towels in his shower all weekend so his room smelled of mold. More than one occasion my husband has had to go the the office to tell them a client had an urgent need and no one was responding to their buzzer. Food is great there - well most of the time. They charged nearly $10 for a bottle of Mylanta when my husband got food poisoning from a weekend meal he ate there. (undercooked fish!! ) Pathetic The manager on duty Jeff is awesome. but his chihuahua boss is a lunatic. The turnover is atrocious. All about telling you I've thing and lying through her teeth. I would not trust these people with my pet goldfish.

From the start, the staff made her feel welcome. They learned her name right away, and even remembered little things like how she prefers her tea. It's those small touches that made a big difference for us. The place itself is clean, feels peaceful, and has these really nice outdoor spaces. My mom loves sitting in the courtyard or watching the birds and fish--they actually have a bird enclosure she visits almost every day. Are there areas that could improve? Slightly, sometimes it takes a bit longer to get help when it's busy, and we've had to remind them about housekeeping once --but nothing that's ever made us regret the decision. Everyone is trying, and you can feel that. And Mom feels love and respected and a wonderful little social group of ladies

They do not care enough to ever return my calls and when I do finally get through to get information about my dad I hear a different story from every person I talk to. The Health & Wellness Director, Charisse, is especially bad about NEVER CALLING BACK but when I run into her at the facility she acts like we're best friends. We had an outside nurse stay overnight with dad awhile ago when his memory was especially bad and she told us he tried to use his call button multiple times in the night and nobody answered. $8k/month so he can get treated like this? It's ridiculous. Some of the staff are nice, others are horrible, which is pretty typical for these types of places, but the lack of communication is just absurd. We are waitlisted at several other places that are further away but I can't wait to get him out of Brookdale.

We had extensive experience with hospitals and out-patient facilities over the years, both for our own needs, as well as those of family members. Hillcrest stands out as one of the very best facilities we've ever come across. The most important thing about Hillcrest may be the quality and commitment of its staff, from on-site doctors and nurses to the CNAs, OTs/PTs, maintenance (Mike) and other support staff. A special shout-out to Scott (OT), AnnMarie and Kris (PTs) for knowing when to push and when to back off, and to being so incredibly upbeat at every step. They are highly skilled and carry out their duties every day with a warm, welcoming and cheerful outlook that gives the center a rare, down-home feel. Nurses (Heather, Chantel, Mustapha) are really attentive and stop by to listen and chat about music; CNAs (Rhonda) even bring flowers from home when I've had a bad day. Apologies to those many staff I haven't named; you're all wonderful and made our stay worthwhile! Hillcrest's facilities are clean and airy. There are patios for getting some fresh air and well-equipped workout rooms to support rehab. Even the food at Hillcrest is worth writing home about!. Internet/WiFi access is spotty at best and is an area that needs attention. So, if you need a rehab facility for yourself, family or friends, you would do well to seek out Hillcrest. FYI, I think one of the key factors behind its consistently high ratings is that it's been family-owned and operated since it began operations in 1951. It retains a family vibe that other facilities owned and operated by equity partners, hedge funds and large chains lack.

This facility is well managed and it's very professional. I met personally with the manager and the dietician, who both went over and beyond in their help. Thank you! The facility also provided free coffee, which was real special. There was a well stocked library along with board games, as I recall. A small chapel held a service on Sunday. The food was fantastic and meals were served in a beautiful dining area. A special touch were the beautiful aquariums. Physical therapy was great! My PT was Filipino and she was so kind and patient. This place is special and I wish I could have stayed there when I broke my shoulder a few months ago.

So this isn't so unusual, they waited a long time to call 911, maybe he wasn't noticed, but the thing we RESENTED was a staff member giving us FALSE VITAL SIGNS either a feeble attempt to disguise NEGLECT or sheer incompetence.
