One visit and done. Duke Home Health is not interested in the welfare of the patient. After an…read moreinitial assessment by a gum chewing open mouthed unprofessional nurse, I got one visit by a male nurse who was definitely not working for me. He was not concerned with the reason I needed a home health nurse after a hospital stay. This nurse wanted to send me to a nursing home. He was not interested in my correct meds but only interested in his own viewpoint rather than my doctor's prescriptions. When Duke's nurse started talking about what he would say in a "court of law", I became concerned that he was not concerned with my health concerns, but in kicking me out of my house. I immediately fired this Home Health group and treated myself with much better care. You can do much better than this group. If you want to stay in your home, do not contract this agency.

The medication management appeared extremely regimented. It seems that the NPs uphold anti-psychotic drug use for the elderly with dementia. It stuns me that they do not consider the lack of research data on the elderly population with dementia. Most data do not advocate the use of these type of drugs due to the "risk of increased mortality". Maybe they do not care? To complicate the situation, the dose of drugs do not take into account my mother's size and weight. Basically, she is considered pediatric size. It seems that the drug dosing is made for the typical adult. Long story short, the NPs and Medical Director will not respond to the current drug challenges. It is unfortunate that there are drug alternatives, but the medical staff will not think "out of the box". I have made several phone calls to Hospice staff with no response. Do they care? Probably not. Last, the CNA is competent. That is the only positive thing I can recall at the present moment,.

I'm a spiritual person who believes everything happens for a reason. When we learned on May 28th…read morethat there was nothing more the hospital could do to prolong my dad's life, I knew in my spirit that I wanted him to be at Transitions. I had never been to Transitions before. My only connection was through my daughter's mother, whose grandfather had been there, and her family spoke highly of their experience. Initially, we were told my dad's condition wasn't imminent enough to qualify, so he was sent home and were under the care of another hospice agency with very nice people. However, once my dad's condition began to decline, I knew we needed to make some readjustments, and I am so thankful that we were able to allow for my dad's journey to end with Transitions. I cannot say enough about the level of care, consideration, and bedside manner. I can't say enough about the support they offered my family during this difficult season in our lives. This is a no-brainer recommendation. If you have a family member whose time on Earth is coming to an end and you're looking for a place where you can feel comfortable knowing they're being taken care of, then you really don't need to look any further.

Similarly, we have referred them to many of our friends and business colleagues who consistently give Paula and her team rave reviews. Paula started the company after caring for one of her own family members so she approaches each case at Homewerks with the understanding and personal experience of what it means to have someone warm, competent and trustworthy at the person's side. While we are supporters of the quality care provided by Homewerks, we also cannot say enough about Paula and Tom as individuals - high quality people with unquestionable integrity.

However, Paula and her team stepped up 7-days a week & at all hours of the days/nights. The caregivers always communicated with me and treated my mother with dignity & respect, even in the most difficult of circumstances. And, when I needed medical guidance, along with some personal support, Paula rose to the occasion often speaking with me late at night and on weekends and she always placed a follow up call to see how things were going- - even after my mom made the transition to full time memory care. If you are looking to find an extended family for your loved one/s, look no more. Have the utmost confidence in choosing HomeWerks

I have worked in hospital and outpatient settings, but Home Instead stands out because of its heart-centered approach to caregiving. The training and resources provided have been excellent. Whether it's new developments in dementia care or fall prevention strategies, we're always learning and improving. As a nurse, that kind of ongoing professional support is invaluable. If you're a family looking for compassionate, reliable care for a loved one, or a healthcare professional looking for a fulfilling career path, I wholeheartedly recommend Home Instead. They've created something truly special.

We used this service to have help caring for our mother who had dementia. We assumed Home Instead would use strict protocols in this time of Covid-19 especially since the people they serve are all elderly and vulnerable. Please if you cherish your loved one DO NOT use this place - they do not enforce any safety guidelines to their employees at all!!!!

This home flat out stole from my grandmother and was physically abused by both Med Techs and Aids…read more When we initially toured the place a few months ago the management sold a complete, blatant LIE. We were told that residents would be given one-on-one care and attention, like hair brushing, etc. Yeah, right... Aids don't even talk to residents, let alone stimulate them. Let's start with the fact that no one wears a name tag so that they cannot be identified by patients. They assume that everyone is suffering from dementia and can no longer read. They have ZERO CARE for any patient. Pain medication isn't administered when it should be, med techs have horrible attitudes and sit in the beauty parlor talking to one another rather than paying attention to family members asking medication to be administered (took over an hour for someone to come, and we were met with a literal "what do you want?"), food is taken away from residents when they don't eat, rather than coaxing attempts to help them eat. My grandmother's diamond and emerald ring was stole right off her finger, and when we were shocked and asked where it was we were told "oh, well because the residents are demented they often give their things away." The ring was tight on her finger and she would have never, ever, taken it off. We know that a med tech stole it right off her person. The attitude of everyone working there disgusts me. Since residents are mostly demented they treat them like absolute garbage. It's true abuse, and we will be riding a complaint all the way to the county and beyond. My grandmother's hospice nurse came the day after she was removed and was shocked at how much her demeanor Do not send your loved one here. It is a true hell hole and should be shut down. Disgusting.

Sloppy care, complacent attitudes, poorly trained staff members. One memorable 911 call, unconscious patient unknown cause, easily diagnosed by my glucose tester. Diabetic emergency close to coma, gave concentrated IV dextrose, he woke up asking 'Why am I on an ambulance'. So this isn't so unusual, they waited a long time to call 911, maybe he wasn't noticed, but the thing we RESENTED was a staff member giving us FALSE VITAL SIGNS either a feeble attempt to disguise NEGLECT or sheer incompetence.
