A little north of Eldorado Canyon State Park, this Walker Ranch Park with several different…read moretrailheads are tucked in as if they never want to be discovered by anyone. How I found this hidden gem was solely based on the luck I had today. I simply wanted to go on a hike where I would avoid other people. And this place is exactly that (or I picked the right day with very few hikers and bikers.) Cloudy Sunday afternoon, the temperature was in its upper 60's. When I got to the Ethel Harrold trailhead, there were only two other cars parked. And this is a very small trailhead (just so you know.) This Walker Ranch loop is a loop but it's QUITE lengthy. if you take the whole loop, it'll eventually take you to Eldorado State Park. I didn't go that far as I started late (past 2pm.) I took the right turn simply based on my instinct when the trail split on the way. If you take the right turn, you'll come to a very tiny (mini) cascade to your left. There is a good elevation gain so it's a great trail to get your cardio going. I occasionally jogged where the trail wasn't so steep. When I reached this vantage point where there was a bench, I made a u turn to come back to where I started. But the view at that vantage point was absolutely breathtaking. During this time (mid June), all kind of colorful wildflowers decorate both sides of the trail so you'll have ample opportunities for photo taking. I'd say it's beginner and family friendly especially the first mile or two. Since I didn't get to see the rest of the trail, I can't really speak for the rest of it, however. If it gets too difficult for you, you can always make a u turn.

It's worth the hike up for your kids to have experiences you won't be able to find anywhere else in the world with life long core memories that build good character. I HIGHLY recommend enrolling your kids here even if it's for one week day camp, or a focus group. I also LOVE that it's been operating for over 70 years by the same family running it today. You won't find anywhere else that has not only a turn key, organized, professional establishment but that's run by heart, soul, love for the outdoors, community, respect for one another, and tradition. It's also a great place to have your wedding or any special event!!

The owners Lynn and Mike are incredibly easy to work with. All the staff are well trained and very attentive to the children and help stretch their comfort zone in fun challenging activities. This year camp was cancelled due to COVID-19. As an alternative, CMR has been hosting single family activities to ensure social distancing. We took the opportunity to do this and we had a blast. As parents, we really didn't know much about how the kids spent their time on the ranch. Spending time up there made me feel like a kid again. The staff made the whole experience fun and easy. The measures that CMR are taking to reduce exposure to the virus are as good as any place I've seen. They sanitize every piece of equipment and touch point between each family and keep the flushies sparkling. Oh and hundreds of acres to spread out the guests. After several months of quarantine and more to come, CMR's 2020 family program was much needed. It's also worth mentioning that various special needs grants and scholarships will cover the family program.

I take long road trips the last few summers and explore different states for fly fishing, since I…read morestarted fishing.3 years ago. Front range angler fly shop was on my radar again after stopping in last year and being impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. Jackson, at the front desk was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable when I asked questions about guided trips and the area, that I had to book a day wading with Amber.(He also is a natural salesman and I had to buy new glasses!! ) I book women guides whenever a fly shop has one available and after speaking with Amber, couldn't wait to go fish with her. Amber was so Friendly, personable, extremely knowledgeable about the rivers and History of the area, having grown up in Boulder and fished for years. She is a natural teacher, fun, and very encouraging and supportive. And best of all- she put me on fish! I even caught a rare Cutthroat .. and lots of Brookies and browns. We were able to avoid the "people hatch"on a busy July day, in the Rocky National park, which was an accomplishment! I plan on using FRA and book Amber on my return trip back home for another experience. She was great. Thanks Priscilla

It was so nice having him there to fix hooks we got caught in Tresa and to change up our flies depending on the different conditions. We fished at 3 different areas, all close by and absolutely beautiful. We caught several fish each which was really rewarding.
