They are damn criminals and they don't know what they're doing. They claimed that they bought and replaced my AC compressor...said the parts cost $400...I asked for a receipt of the purchase and I was told I could not have a copy of the receipt. I don't know if they purchased a used or defective parts for my vehicle. A brand new compressor only runs $250...They don't know crap about fixing cars. Took my BMW to get my transmission fixed there...a year later after I got the car back and it sounded like carp. Took it back 3 times and they still didn't resolve the problem. I had a Nissan Murano there for almost a year with transmission problems. Quoted me $4000. Got the transmission rebuilt for $1800. Do not use THESE incompetent people. They're scammers and rip offs. I'm going to report them to the BBB, take them to court and have them shut down!!! Tired of incompetence when I'm spending my hard earned money. Sick of it!!! read more

The Engine Specialist Team have all of my respect. I have brought my car to them twice on a tow truck bed and both times they've gotten me back on the road for a reasonable rate. Annette, Dwight, and DeLion are great with communicating...even though I may have called them a bit too much. They have pretty much redone the engine for my Audi Q5. Dwight is a perfectionist (that is absolutely a compliment btw) who took great care of my baby and returned it running BETTER THAN NEW. You are appreciated and I'll see you again. I have a Hyundai Accent. My check engine light came on and I went and got a diagnostic at Autozone stating it was a catalytic converter issue. I took my car to the "engine specialist" to see if it could be fixed at a better price. I was charge $1000 or so for parts and labor. They ordered the part from some shop that was at a better price, per the older lady at the front. The engine light went away, and everything was fine, so I thought. A few months later (4 or 5 months) my check engine light came back on again, I got a diagnostic, and it was for the same issue. I brought it back up there (for context, a catalytic converter should last you some years). Because I had warranty on the converter, they were able to call up that same place they got it from in the first place and replace it at no cost to me (Even thought I feel like my warranty shouldn't have been used when this item didn't even last me that long). The lady at the front blamed it on the place and said a lot of people have been complaining about this same issue which she failed to mention in the beginning, because I would not have bought it from them. I got the car back, and the light was gone. A month later, the same issue :(. So, I take it back up there and she's blaming it on the part, but that doesn't help me. One of the techs there said he'd take a look at it and let me know. He ran a diagnostic and said the code didn't seem like it really was a catalytic converter issue and that I could still drive my car either way. And he also flushed out my engine as well. I brought up bringing it to Hyundai for a diagnostic, and he said there was no point and that they would just overcharge me for the part. The light did go away for a little, but it came back and then went away again. Then my light came back and this time it never went away. Stupidly I listened to the advice given (and also because I'm low on funds) I kept driving my car and then the real issues began, and the light started blinking. My car began jerking and the engine was misfiring, so I took it to Hyundai, and it was the catalytic converter. It was a waste of time and money, for a few months of no issues. read more

Went to get a valve cover replacement in November, we thought the problem was fixed. Fast forward to get a tune up, there's still oil leaking which clearly came from the valve cover replacement. We notified them and they were very unprofessional. The man even admitted he's seen oil when changing the valve cover didn't have the courtesy to even clean it for us knowing it would damage other parts. Not only that, they had a little boy screwing things back on too tightly and not even going back to check after him. And he's probably the the one who tried to glue my connector back together because my slider piece on it is broken and it wasn't like that before getting it fixed and they also didn't tell us it was broken. They also claimed that they didn't buy the part but in fact, I had to go back up there after paying for the installation because a pregnant lady called me and said that they paid for the part. I say that to say, THEY RECOMMENDED us a bootleg part for a Chevy car when it's their JOB to advise us to get what's best for the car. Lady in the front ? Oh yeah her black toothed ass is very disrespectful not even gonna go into that one. We weren't rectified or even a little bit for the horrible job that they admitted that they've done. Was a cool place at first, but the fact that they wanted to basically say we came back up there for no reason proves to me that this is a bad, untrustworthy, dishonest, and misunderstanding company. The lady claims she trying to run a business, but doesn't know how to keep it honest ! Wouldn't recommend because they're very self conscious about their work. More could be said but I'll let the other reviews tell the rest or just go see for yourself but you will be going back there to get the problem fixed again !! read more

Worst service ever! My car was towed there and towed out because these people have no idea of what they are doing. 1st they said one day for service turned into 2 weeks of nothing. They diagnosed my car for one thing then it was a few things. After taking it to a real mechanic they diagnosed the same issue so I contacted them for the reciepts of parts because they just had to be defected they were rude & disrespectful. Now I know they never bought any parts just smokes screen from there lack of business sense. These people are Frauds! read more

Well I took my car to Engine Specialist and I left my car there for three days. In the back of my head I was thinking i knew it was in good hands. Some of the reviews were bad and some were good, but knowing Dwight I knew my car was going to be fixed and run better than it has ever ran. All the workers are respectful and the office ladies do a terrific job. I recommended this to one of my friends. He called me after the job was complete and he told me my truck has never ran this well since he got it. So iI recommend ENGINE SPECIALIST to anybody who has anything wrong with their car. If you are in the area or if you aren't its worth the drive if you want your car fixed by top notch workers . I give this ten thumbs up !! read more

DECATUR"S Finest GUESSING Mechanic. I took my 2001 Ford Sport Trac here for a crunching noise i was hearing when i turned left. I was told by the mechanic (Dwight) that i needed ball joints for the left side of my vehicle. I insisted that he test drive the vehicle and let me know what he thought. He responded that the only issue it could be is the ball joints. $300 and 7 hours later i pick up my truck only to find it making the same noise. I was told this time that it was my subfame bushings and quoted $2000 for the bushing and $500 on labor. (the ladies they have working the service counter are quite the huslters). Long story short, i ended up ordering the bushings online for only $149.99/w free shipping. (Thanks Daystar Suspension.com) and the bushings replaced for $450.00 I strongly suggest taking your business elsewhere. The service writers are rude women and customer services is disgusting at best. Please dont give them any of your money unless your looking for incompetence at its finest. read more
