I had to drive 60 miles to get to this shop. When I arrived, I was told that I could NOT wait in the lobby until my Volvo C30 service was completed. Mind you, I had scheduled a first-available morning appointment for a 50K maintenance. So, I had to order an Uber to drive me 30 miles away, where I could wait at a relatives house. Then order another Uber to drive me back. It was a very expensive day! This happened about 3-4 years ago, and I have never gone back to Munich West. read more

(Especially as I am a business owner myself and would never consider giving this kind of treatment or service to any of my customers.) Here we go... We booked our Saab in for a check up. The whole exp from start to finish was awful. When my wife made the appointment, the gentleman on the phone was extremely rude. (we gave him the benefit of the doubt!) We were told to come drop the car off at a certain time and day, when we got to the shop the Saab mechanic was not in that day!! Next: Without calling us to ask what work we would like, the miserable & rude mechanic went ahead and did an oil change. Then proceed to tell us the car is not rd worthy and needs to be scraped! Question... so why would you do an oil change if the car is not rd worthy? We went to pick up the car... the man behind the desk, did not have any manners, had no interest in finding out why the car was worked on if the mechanic had deemed it 'not rd worthy' He then went on the expect us to pay $86 for the oil change! We first went to Munich West more than 25 years ago when our BMW dealership could not repair our 325 air conditioner after holding on to the vehicle for over one month without being able to make the repair. On a friend's recommendation, we took the 325 to Munich West and they fixed the problem the same day we dropped it off. We have never considered another repair shop. Munich West is now servicing our second and third BMWs: a 2001 X-5 and a 2007 328. We hold our cars for a long time so reliable and quality servicing is key. The work is reasonably priced, particularly compared to the dealerships. More importantly, they are honest and expert at what they do. Summary: Rude, disinterested. These people lost my business before it even began. Made an appointment for service for my Mercedes. First time going somewhere other than the dealer for this car. There is an open sign in the window, but the front door is locked. I am fully masked because of COVOD-19. Looked through the glass door, didn't see anyone, looked for instructions and don't see any. So I go to walk around the side of the building looking for someone and wondering where I was supposed to drop the car and find the service advisor. Next thing I know the front door is ajar and some older man is yelling at me about touchless drop-off and scolding me for not reading the instructions which apparently were on the door in small print. Very, very rude and condescending. I have no idea who he is - could be the owner or an employee, don't know. I walked back in front of the building and he is still carrying on. I was thinking about whether I wanted to leave the car without actually talking to a service advisor to describe the issues. Usually I want to see the service order to make sure it accurately reflects the problems I have described. He asked me if I had an appointment and I said that I did but was thinking about whether or not I wanted to do business with them (I was thinking about the problem of not being able to describe the car's issues) . I am not sure exactly what he said, but it was dismissive and he ended it by saying that his phone was still ringing. That is, he did not need my business. Could I have worked with the touchless dropoff system. Probably. But I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE WHO ARE RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Too many aggravations in life for that. I also will NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WANT AND VALUE MY BUSINESS. If they do not value my business then they are obviously not all that interested in my satisfaction no matter how technically proficient they might be. Too bad for them. I usually have great relationships with the businesses that provide me this kind of service. If they had been polite, respectful, and competent, then they would most likely have been maintaining and repairing the car for a long as I own it. Most likely $1,000s of business. So if you want to do business with people who appear to think it is a PRIVILEGE FOR YOU TO BE THEIR CUSTOMER, this is the place for you. I am going elsewhere. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I have to give Munich West 5 stars for great customer service and honesty! A couple weeks ago I took my car in to the dealer for a recall and they found an oil leak during the courtesy inspection. I brought it in to my regular mechanic for a second opinion - they confirmed the leak and gave me a quote that was more than $100 higher than the dealer. I started looking for a better price and found Munich West. Steve gave me an estimate over the phone which beat out both the dealer and my regular mechanic by 10-20%. When I brought my car in, they inspected it and found that the leak was barely seeping. Steve called me to recommend that he put a note in my file and monitor it the next time I come in. While they may not have billed a repair today, they gained a new regular customer! read more

I went very far out of my way to take my car to Munich West based on the recommendation of a friend. I received poor/rude treatment. I am so disappointed. Three strikes and you're out Munich West: 1. They charged me $56 to run a scan on my Volvo for a check engine light. Hmmm... let's see... Crank car, plug in, read output, collect $56. Does that seem fair to you? If so, I have a time share in the Bahamas I would like to talk to you about. 2. When trying to figure out a way to return to Munich West to get my $56 worth by getting them to actually run a THOROUGH scan on my car, they were not willing to work with me AT ALL. They wouldn't allow me to bring the car in and wait, they would only allow me to bring the car in at 8am and rent a car, and they aren't open on weekends... so now I need to take time off from work. Sounds to me like my total is now $56 + $46 (rental) + 2 hours off from work to make sure I don't have to rent the car for an extra day. 3. STRIKE 3. When trying to figure out a way to not have to spend OVER $100 just to find out what is wrong with my car, I called Munich West. Talk about customer service!!! The fellow in charge remembered me and YELLED at me that they only do oil changes and computer read outs past 1pm. Hm. Somebody had a case of the Wednesdays. Result: I refused to give Munich West my money, and immediately called Braxton Automotive on Howell Mill. They took me in, worked with my schedule, and WON'T be charging me for the auto scan. My family has taken our vehicles to Munich West for decades until last week. I am disgusted beyond words but here it goes: I bought my most recent BMW in 2015 and had it checked by Munich West before making the purchase official. I started using Munich West exclusively to maintain the vehicle after the factory warranty expired. That said, I have done everything they have said needs to be done, no questions asked. Recently, I had a big issue with the vehicle and was told that they (Munich West) couldn't read the engine codes; they told me I had to go to the dealer to get a diagnosis (this is the second and last time this will happen). Sadly, the diagnosis was that the car needed $7,200 in repairs. I find it hard to believe that a shop that specializes in BMWs with decades of experience can't read the fault codes or don't have a connection with a shop that can read the codes. Furthermore, the dealer diagnosis revealed that the vehicle has many maintenance issues that MW was supposed to maintain in the first place! The reason I used MW was I thought they were a reliable shop that takes care of their customers. Sadly, I was thrown to the curb when the car had issues that MW obviously couldn't fix or even diagnose. I have been a loyal customer until now. Consider yourselves warned, folks! If you are looking for competent mechanics, you need to look elsewhere! read more

I went to the Hank Aaron BMW dealership for a basic service. They told me that my radiator was cracked and I needed a new on which was going to be $2500, so I wanted a second opinion. I found Munichwest on Google and set up an appointment. They took a look and ran some tests, and guess what... No cracked radiator just a loose seal. This cost me like $300 and a huge relief. This place will destroy your car! I went to them because they quoted me a really good price and granted the least expensive labor rate in town. FOR GOOD REASON. They didn't do the work properly and wouldn't repair it, So much for warranty. When I told them I'd take them to court they laughed. The best deal is usually not the right deal. I got my car back running worse than when I brought it in and said it was due to underlying problems that revealed themselves after the repair. Hmmmm, riiiight...To the additional tune of $5,000.00, after I'd just paid them $2,500.00. Both Nally BMW and another BMW specialist inspected the vehicle afterward and said the work was not done properly (as you know inspections aren't free unless you use them for repairs, and that Munich West should repair it properly). Took it back to Munich West and they said they work was done properly and refused to even look at it again. Legal action had to be taken for a refund. But yes I won. read more

My name is Claude Taylor on 10 10 2018 I brought my 2008 XC90 in for a water pump service / change. Also stated that I work on the vehicle myself a little and I knew exactly what was wrong with it. I've been use to working with Steve in the past and he has always been on task when it comes to my vehicle. I found out Steve had went on vacation and did not no one follow up with me in a timely matter for my vehicle. I started dealing with Mike in my opinion I felt like he could have been a little bit more on point. When I brought my vehicle in for a water pump exchange next thing I find out that my power steering pump was making a noise which wasn't making a noise when I brought it in so I had a used power steering pump put on the vehicle. My wife came to pay for the vehicle and she said the tech gave her the key and then had to get the key back from her because the vehicle was in the gate. Moving forward yesterday I was cleaning the vehicle up and I noticed my cover up under my vehicle was not on there when I know that when I brought it in it was on there. I spent almost $1,000 and I just expect better service and that's the reason why I bring it to your shop. However, I have had better service in the past. After disappointingly finding some mechanical issues wrong with my recently purchased X5, Steve and crew stepped in to make things right. Repairs were quite lengthy and may have taken a bit longer than the typical dealership, but I fee that the work was done properly and correctly. The prices were also reasonable considering the typical cost of a major repair on a German auto. I'd recommend to anyone with a German import needing service. I'm the daughter of a mechanic who specialized in German cars. While he never taught me how to fix my car (shaking fist, god rest his soul), he did teach me enough to usually identify what's going wrong with it and how to sniff out a shady mechanic. i've been going to Munich West for years for my Volvo 850 wagon on the recommendation of my friend who used to own a Volvo 240. They are always honest, and like my dad, they will zero in on exactly what's wrong and get you on your way for a reasonable price. When one mechanic tried to convince me I needed a new transmission, Steve and the guys zeroed in on me only needing a replacement PNP switch. $150 versus $3500 for a new transmission. Works like a dream. Every time I've had it in for something, never have I experienced a return because it's still not working right, a common complaint i see with other mechanics (and have experienced in the past). They get it right the first time. An honest mechanic is a beautiful thing and I know my dad would be thrilled that I found these guys to take care of my car repair needs. read more

I took my BMW in for service and these guys did a great job. I had gotten a bad oil change at a shell station and oil had leaked all over inside the hood. They fixed everything for me at a very reasonable price. While I was driving the car home, a warning light came on, and the owner himself came to my house (30 min away) to fix the problem, all without additional charge. He even called me the next day just to make sure things were all ok! These guys do great work, have great customer service, and really go the extra mile! I would highly recommend Munich West as a place to take your car. I won't be going anywhere else in the future! read more

If you love your vehicle do not take it to Munich West. I gave these guys more than 10 chances. Many different jobs were "performed" on my BMW wagon. Nearly every single job was done very poorly and or they broke something else in the process. Attention to detail is nonexistent. On one occasion I picked my vehicle up and smelled gas/fuel. Upon lifting the hood, I found my fuel line had been tampered with. It was steadily dripping onto the engine block! The job they performed did not call for fuel line removal in any way. I am the only one that works on my wagon now. I am still finding half rate work and broken things here and there that are left overs/reminders of how little they care. Don't even get me started on the super smug attitudes that you'll find at the counter and in the shop. These are real issues that I hope you'll avoid. If you love your car...please take it to Quantum Mechanics. Those are the real pros. For the same cost or less. read more

So glad I found this group....I have been so frustrated with the local BMW Dealer's service team...they told me my 2010 X5 needed a new muffler ($$$$$$) when I took it for an annoying rattle. I said "no thank you" and just dealt with the rattle until I needed new brake pads and thought I would try Munich West based on good online reviews. Hooray!
