I hired this company to provide photography, videography, and DJ services for my June wedding. They were good to work with, and they arrived on time. It seemed they put a great deal of effort into making sure the day went smoothly. I was a little turned off that the videographer was their 19-year-old son, and he appeared to be learning on the job while at my wedding. His mother, the photographer, had to tell him where to stand and remind him to capture certain moments. It was evident that he was not comfortable or experienced.
After the wedding, everything went down hill - fast. A thumbnail drive was sent to me with 1200 photos (I paid an extra $500 for a second photographer, hence the large number of photos) and that was it. When I followed up for the video, I received a second thumbnail drive with the video. In spite of my text messages and lengthy phone conversations asking for specific songs to play in the background, he apparently decided his song choices were better. So there we have it. A choppy video, harsh transitions, and terrible music. That's a video nobody will ever see. At least not until I learn how to edit video myself and try to fix something up.
The "package" I signed up for included a leather photo album. In spite of assurances throughout that I would have everything prior to my move to the UK, I did not receive the album. When I followed up, my texts were met with no response - UNTIL I mentioned the word "review." Then, all of a sudden, actually following through and addressing my concerns was something worth considering. Rather than apologize, he explained that I should have found instructions on how to order an album as an attachment (one of over 1,200) on the thumbdrive. Well, it's too late now. So here I am, giving advice to future brides.
The photos themselves were okay - during the day. All dark/nighttime shots were disappointing, the formal photos were awful (everyone was standing miles apart because we received ZERO instruction from the photographer). She just said, "That's great!" "Ooh, good shot!" How about, "Can you stand closer together please?" That would have made a world of difference. While she was taking photos, when the sky was absolutely beautiful - just as the sun was setting - she used the flash (ruining the photos) when simply turning off the flash would have made for some beautiful photos. Anyway, in the end, I have some decent distance shots, can't find a single closeup or number one shot that I can put in a frame, photos of me walking down the aisle are all blurry, and I'll forever regret the decision I made in hiring this team.
He has offered to put an album together (way too late as I've already moved) and - after much arguing - change the music in the video, but at this point I'm just walking away. And sharing this lesson I learned the hard way with brides-to-be.
I ignored various photographers who told me I would not be pleased if I spent so little on photography/videography services. Hindsight is 20/20, I guess. read more
