Whenever I got an issue in front of the right person, they took it seriously and got things moving. The system itself is working great. The one area that really needs improvement is project management. From my perspective it was largely absent--I received essentially no responses from my assigned PM, and even my request for a new one went unanswered. Issues that could have been handled earlier, including a requirement identified before construction, contributed to an inspection failure and months of delay in fully closing out the project. I also had to request a final walkthrough myself, which seems like something project management should have coordinated. What is bizarre is how strong the rest of the team was. Operations in particular did a great job stepping in when things needed attention, and the people actually doing the work and operational oversight were great. It felt like a lot of very capable people were working there and able to get around the project-management function. I'd recommend Photon Brothers. I'm happy with the finished product and everyone that I interacted with were excellent with the exception of the nonexistent project manager. My main suggestion would be to make sure there is clear, responsive project ownership from beginning to end, including a way to hand a project to someone else when that isn't happening.

I also discovered that the technician moved my security camera from the window to a table without asking. This was captured on my security footage. When I raised these concerns with management, I felt they were dismissed. The manager told me he believed the technician's account over mine despite the video I provided. I also informed him that I intended to leave an online review. During our conversation, he responded by saying, "I'll sue you for defamation." And, " I can't wait to see everyone on Reddit laugh at you" That response made me question whether customers feel comfortable leaving honest negative reviews after receiving that kind of warning. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I encourage anyone hiring these contractors to have security cameras and to document the condition of their home before and after service. In my opinion, moving a customer's security camera without permission is a serious security concern. Xcel's website has a list of companies you should use I'll provide a list below. I was pleased to find that REenergizeCO did them all and were more than just an installer but on mission to increase energy efficiency. From start to finish communication was fantastic. They first did the insulation and we noticed a difference almost immediately. They also took care of submitting the Xcel rebate paperwork for it. The solar panels and EVSE came a bit later. Again, they took care of all the paperwork with Xcel. The system has been working without flaw since and saving us tons of money in this inflated energy cost environment. We had them out recently to detach and reset the panels for a roof replacement. They took the opportunity to slightly tweak the layout for better efficiency. Still the same commitment to quality!

After signing the contract I was then told that they could not place the panels where we had agreed and they would have to go on the roof of the house with most of the panels facing either East or West decrease in the efficiency of the system by approximately 15%. They did not have the project installed by December 31, but sent me a letter anyway that stated it was installed and recommended I give that to my tax person. In essence asking me to commit tax fraud. As part of the project to power walls were to be installed. They install them on the front of my house. I complained and they told me (with much attitude) that I had signed off on the plans. I had signed off on the plans thinking I was only signing off on placement of the solar panels and as a layperson I could not find the power walls on the plans. Finally after months of complaining someone told me where the power walls were on the plans and they were supposed to go on the back of the house to begin with. So, there electricians cannot read the plans either? Additionally, the electricians had a put a new ground in and instead of calling 811 to find where the lines were they spiked their ground through the main power line to our house. I have been in contact with one of the owners of the company and I will email him but not get a response for weeks. The last time I contacted him 3 weeks went by without a response and finally he said "sorry I was out of town". I wish I could take 3 weeks off without contacting my clients. Now, 10 months after signing the contract all of the solar panels are still not installed and all of the wiring to the solar panels still goes to the front of our house. 1. I feel as though I was lied to multiple times 2. Their own people cannot read or do not care about the plans for the project. 3. Very poor customer service from both being given attitude for their mistakes and extended periods of time with no contact at all.

Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

They applied the rebates offered by Xcel, so we didn't have to wait for the rebates, we just signed over the rebates to them during the sales process. The installers were top notch, kind, and ensured they took good care of our home. I couldnt be happier and highly recommend them. From a price point, they came out thousands less than the closest competitor, and I'd note the closest competitor wasn't willing to do a transfer of the rebates.
