Lindsay was amazing from the start. When we first meet it was like we had known each other for years. For her being new to selling the product I believe she did an amazing job. Of course, getting the permit and dealing with our utility company took a while, so that was something. Gary the owner even personally reached out to my husband and I to make sure we were happy along the process. Our basement light switches went out the day our solar was finally up, which made us think something happened by the solar panels. Trevor their electrician personally drove all the way from Fort Collins to help us out. I was amazed at the time and compassion Trevor puts in to make sure the customer has no more questions and that everything is working before he leaves. What I also appreciate about this company is that they send you weekly progress report emails for you to evaluate the process of the previous week. The project managers make sure to reach out periodically to make sure everyone knows what is going on. We had a couple small issues and Gary personally reached out to us again to make sure he could address and fix our problems immediately. I couldn't be more appreciative than having an owner who completely cares about their customers and not just making a dollar. Don't use!! The summer 2025 I signed a contract with smart wave solar and was told that the solar panels could go on my barn which has a large South facing roof, and I was told the project would be finished by December 31 for the tax credit. After signing the contract I was then told that they could not place the panels where we had agreed and they would have to go on the roof of the house with most of the panels facing either East or West decrease in the efficiency of the system by approximately 15%. They did not have the project installed by December 31, but sent me a letter anyway that stated it was installed and recommended I give that to my tax person. In essence asking me to commit tax fraud. As part of the project to power walls were to be installed. They install them on the front of my house. I complained and they told me (with much attitude) that I had signed off on the plans. I had signed off on the plans thinking I was only signing off on placement of the solar panels and as a layperson I could not find the power walls on the plans. Finally after months of complaining someone told me where the power walls were on the plans and they were supposed to go on the back of the house to begin with. So, there electricians cannot read the plans either? Additionally, the electricians had a put a new ground in and instead of calling 811 to find where the lines were they spiked their ground through the main power line to our house. I have been in contact with one of the owners of the company and I will email him but not get a response for weeks. The last time I contacted him 3 weeks went by without a response and finally he said "sorry I was out of town". I wish I could take 3 weeks off without contacting my clients. Now, 10 months after signing the contract all of the solar panels are still not installed and all of the wiring to the solar panels still goes to the front of our house. 1. I feel as though I was lied to multiple times 2. Their own people cannot read or do not care about the plans for the project. 3. Very poor customer service from both being given attitude for their mistakes and extended periods of time with no contact at all. read more

The time to actually get the project done has been way too long.. The incompetence of some of the people amaze me. I was told 3.5 months to installation it's now 5 and it's still not on. 2 days of installation and I only needed the Powerwall and expansion pack as I have solar already. They send people out who aren't qualified to do the work; or like today where they barely did anything and the power was off for half the day and apparently it was a big deal it was back on. I couldn't work from home because of the power situation. Literally 2 days and it's not done...probably cause they came out so late. Oh and they left my doors open or unlocked...I have them on video; not even bothering to check. I voiced my displeasure and haven't received a response. All in all I would avoid this place like the plague as I'm concerned I'm gonna have nothing but problems and people unable to fix it. Seriously find someone else. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for your Solar System. It's a complete scam through the city of Boulder. They have continuously screwed up the install on multiple occasions. They never pre coordinate visits, they just declare when they are coming. They only communicate via text. They don't send notifications a hour before arriving even after being asked repeatedly to do so. They failed the inspection twice and sent 3 different teams to ensure it was installed correctly. I'm not sure it ever was. Their latest text declared they were showing up at my house on a Sunday and that I provided my wifi password to them to use. I'm done with them and am now complaining formally to the city for referring them in the first place. If you are in Boulder, go with Photon brothers. read more

They just can't seem to finish my project. They have failed inspection twice. The first inspection was failed on 11/7/25. It failed so miserably that the inspector stopped looking at it. They didn't work on the corrections until 12/1/25. They FINALLY called in the next inspection for 12/9/25. I told them I wouldn't be home and they said no one needed to be there. Well the inspector did not do the inspection because didn't have permission to access the back yard. Strike 2. So then they finally called in the inspection for 12/18/25. Failed. As of today, 1/5/26, they were supposed to come today and try and fix the issues, and they were a no-show. I have paid them 75% of the total and they do not seem interested in completing the work. The seem to have no ambition to finish my project. Meanwhile, I've gone a month with my panels installed and unable to use them. Any correspondence seems like it's AI boiler plate or anything they can say to pretend like they care. I would not recommend them at all. read more

They also had a tech on site for every step, including city inspections, so we had to deal with none of that. These projects can take time but I always felt connected to the process! read more

I can't say enough horrible things. Let's start with the most concerning error. Not adhering to national electric code, they neglected to put insulators on metal connectors. This  prevents you from having a short in your system. Luckily the city inspector caught it.I was told if I went on their fast track program I would have the system installed within a month, and it would take one day to install a system of my size. Untrue. It took six visits. Five of which they needed inside access to the house. So I needed to be home. They tell you this the day before. I signed my contract and made my first payment on June 19th. I am writing this on September 23rd. As of right now things are still not up and running. Definitely more than one month.I have discussed the issues with customer service and my point person. Zero effort has been made to make this right. I'm still waiting on an estimate for battery install. The electrician told me about a new battery that was released the second quarter of this year. He was installing one the next day and told me the price. When I asked about it they said that was not correct. It's been about a month and I still don't have information on pricing.You will find similar reviews from the Broomfield Colorado area. read more

We ran our AC all summer and never went over our production. Now I'm getting billed for electricity and called support. I got a message there were only two support people so I'm waiting for a call back. I've texted our project manager Darcy Newell and have never received any response from her regarding the current issue and one I had prior that I resolved myself thanks to our original salesman that sold us the system. We were assured that they back their product. I checked February and there were several days when no energy was produced. I would avoid this company. The project took almost one year to complete. Literally from July 22, 2022 until July 10, 2023. It took 6 months to get the panels on the house and six more months to get the panels to pass inspection. That speaks a lot to the quality of workers that they hire and use. Their electricians do work that cannot pass inspections. Finally our project was approved and we are done with them. Don't use them. Avoid them. read more

When we decided to install rooftop solar, we checked out dozens of companies, and eventually decided to to with Smart Wave Solar. It was definitely the right decision. Our sales contact, Lindsay patiently explained the different options and the pros/cons of each. AnaLee, our project manager was awesome as well. She took our input on project design and panel layout, and kept us informed with weekly updates on project status. Smart Wave took care of all of the necessary permits and was the main point in working with the local utility for installation. Installation was very quick, and they even followed up, in person, to make sure everything was done correctly. I've had my panels from them for over 18 months and they noted that I was experiencing minor arc faults occasionally. Sophia at Customer Service/Proj Mgmt got Sais's crew out to find and fix 'em. Got it done and fixed in less than 3 hours without any difficulties plus got another reassuring email from Sophia. Great Crew! read more

Admittedly, our initial experience several years ago was positive. But we have had so many problems since having the panels removed and replaced for a remodel that I can't give them a good rating. It took them months to get us back on their schedule and when they finally did, the job did not actually get done. I begged for them to come back through multiple emails; I sent pictures; I drove up to their little office in Bluffdale twice. I was told that I had to pay in full ($3,510) for the removal and reinstall BEFORE they would come back. "But what would be your motivation to come?" I asked. We went back and forth and finally, at the beginning of April, sadly, I gave in. AND...surprise. It's still not working. They're "waiting" for a response from another company about a piece of equipment. Everyone at the company knows about this situation - even one of the owners that I DM'ed, Ryan Stucki, but so far, no results. So disappointed. read more

The process started great, sales was thorough, and the solution seemed like a great option, based on the sales process and production guarantee. Things increasingly unraveled throughout the project. It started with template emails and seemed organized. When the project actually began, timelines and deadlines were occurring, and status became unclear. The communication transitioned to text messages and schedule changes occurred without appropriate notice. Multiple issues occurred and were not resolved timely in what appeared to be due to a lack of internal communication (scheduler, project coordinator, install team, electrician) and perhaps employee turnover. Our installation failed county inspection several times, delaying the project. Attempts to escalate the issues through the organization indicated employee turnover or unreturned phone calls. When the system was finally operational (3-4 months later than anticipated while we paid for both electricity and the solar loan). The system almost immediately experienced issues with nearly a third of the panels not working. A team came and couldn't identify a specific issue, but the system started working for a few weeks. The system then reported that over a third of panels weren't working. Attempts to get service have been as frustrating as the project process. We have had a number of no-shows for service appointments, contradicting reports from the service resource here onsite and the service desk. Last lesson learned: Read the production guarantee clause very closely. There really is no incentive to ensure your solar is up and operational quickly. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. read more

We just had a great experience using Smart Wave Solar to install our solar system in Lone Tree, CO. We've heard some horror stories from a few of our neighbors when they installed theirs with other companies. We started our project by looking at impartial 3rd party Google reviews, and reviews in solarreviews.com and Yelp. After a detailed review of proposals we received from several of the top rated, local solar system installers, we selected Smart Wave Solar. Smart Wave exceeded all of our expectations during the design and installation of our system. Our only issue was the time it took our electric utility company to review our project and get our interconnection agreement so we could start construction, but I understand they've reduced their backlog and have significantly improved their review times. Our experience began with Smart Wave's sales rep. Dan's honesty and transparency during the proposal process. Something you don't always see with some of the other solar system installers. Next was their well structured, project management approach used on their projects. What impressed us the most was the outstanding communication and quick response by Smart Wave's Project Coordinator, Darcy, throughout the job. On our job, she was able to reach back to the rest of their team and get questions and actions resolved quickly. Other things that impressed us were their competitive pricing, use of premium components in their systems, good documentation, warranties and outstanding value.
