My existing floors were installed by Floors Modern 2 years prior to the water damage. They were professionally levelled and new laminate and tile installed, and the result was perfect. Perfectly level and squeak free, and absolutely beautiful. Then Cambridge Floors came in and damaged/removed that levelling, and put down the new flooring over sloped and uneven subfloors. I was shocked and heartbroken. What made the experience much worse was the way my Cambridge Rep, "A.C." responded to my concerns. He was hostile and indignant. He blamed my now sloping floors on the age of the building. A.C. argued that my floors were never level, even though he had to prop up one side of my bathroom vanity, and replace baseboards and tiles with larger ones to hide a strip of old paint that was now visible. He didn't even tell me, I had to ask him about it. When I showed him that the flooring behind my door was so sloped that my door wouldn't fully open, A.C. looked at it and said it was within industry standards. The more issues I pointed out, the more hostile and verbally aggressive he became. There was no respect for me as the homeowner, and no consideration for the thousands I had spent to have my floors levelled. May 5, 2023 was the day A.C. met with me to discuss these issues, and a day that for me will never be forgotten. A.C.'s behaviour towards me left me traumatized. I am a senior female and I was overwhelmed, emotional, and felt completely beaten down by A.C.'S anger, hostility, and verbal aggression. If I were paying Cambridge Floors directly I would have refused, but Canstar Restorations was paying the bill and they did not want to have to pay Cambridge to do the job over. My floors look horrible. I am out thousands of dollars that I paid to Floors Modern. I would never recommend Cambridge Floors to anyone. It's not surprising to me that Cambridge Floors has had to sell themselves to the insurance industry for business. The work is substandard, the flooring employees are incompetent, and the Company Representative is abusive to the homeowner.

They did an amazing job under challenging conditions addressing exterior concrete repairs, replacing sealants, fixing leaks, treating rusty rebar, repairing and replacing flashing, power washing, painting and much more. The crew were always polite, cheerful and fastidious even while doing work 10+ stories up on narrow ledges in the hot sun; and rainy weather just meant they adjusted course a little and worked on what was needed in covered areas and then they went back to the exposed areas when the sun was shining. We can't imagine a more difficult job as they hung from ropes lowering paint cans, ladders, slabs of granite and much more. We are very grateful for their tremendous efforts.

We Hired Simar and Save More roofing to put a new roof on our reno in North Vancouver. The roof was…read morecompleted in May 2017. We had a leak almost immediately. We have been trying to contact Simar for over two months and he refuses to answer or return our calls. Since then we have had an envelope inspector do a report on the roof. He found that the workmanship was very poor, and that standard roofing practices had not been followed, causing major issues with the roof. We have a very long list of all the mistakes that were made. We have had several reputable roofing companies look at the roof, and they all believe that it should be replaced entirely. This will be more expensive than starting with a new roof as the old roof will need to be removed. This repair has majorly delayed the rest of the renovation. It has also added costs in terms of drywalling, general delay and also extended rental at our current home. Additionally, due to a bank error, Simar was overpaid $3200, which he acknowledged and promised to return to us. It is many months later and he has not returned the money, nor has he contacted us. We have a signed contract offering a five year warranty. Dealing with Simar and Save More Roofing has not only been very stressful, but in the end it will have cost us additional tens of thousands. We have been nothing but polite and have tried to resolve this peacefully, but there is no response form Simar.

From our first meeting with Shwan, the Project Consultant, when we discussed our vision, to the end of the project, we were part of all the decisions on everything that needed to be done. We were consulted extensively by Rose, Hoda and the Head Designer Zaineb. They listened and delivered. It was a big project with new floors, cabinets, huge pantry, fireplace, powder room, live wall, new doors and so many other details. The Head Designer, who we absolutely love, Zaineb Al-Saffar was on top of everything -- a great asset to have when we needed any communication with any concerns or questions. She worked very closely with both of us and with her Chief Contractor Mo; Mo was in charge of overseeing the whole project. Mo is great, knows his job, and is quite a perfectionist. A pleasure to work with. Central to the team, Ash and Sarah were absolutely perfect. Renovating our place like no others and recommending solutions to our concerns. The kitchen cabinets and the sitting benches by the window are splendid! Madan Mohan , from Danma Cabinets here in the lower mainland, designed and installed the kitchen and dining room. Excellent workmanship and professionalism. He responded with respect and agreement when we needed to have features corrected. He stands behind his product and workmanship!, The quality of product and workmanship by Canadian Countertops is undeniable; both the kitchen counters, backsplash and fireplace surrounding are perfect. Because of Covid-19, the live wall has not yet been delivered and installed, but this will be done as soon as health restrictions are lifted. We impulsively hired VGC for our kitchen renovation because I was naive. I believe they do charge a…read morelot of hidden costs and push these "change order" fees that is ridiculous. They gave us a budget for certain items like say our sink... and because I wanted to choose a more expensive sink than their predicted cost, they were going to charge us a change order fee. It makes no sense, if I want to spend a few hundred dollars more on my sink why do they reap financial benefit from it when they gave us a lowball amount to spend in the first place. We were also plagued with mismanagement of our project. The project manager, Ali, they assigned to us was inexperienced and made several errors that delayed our project. He was definitely hired based on nepotism as he was the best friend of the manager, Hussain. The PM was fairly clueless, luckily my husband is a carpenter and he really had to micromanage many aspects of the project. This is a shame since we thought we were hiring VGC to take the stress of managing the projects ourselves. Then Ali left us halfway through project for personal reason. We did get a better PM, Mo after but he had to deal with the aftermath of the first guy plus the first contractor, Hamid decided to leave our project midway due to a dispute with how the company mismanaged payment to him. I was then harassed for weeks by Hamid to pay him or else he'd put a lien on our home. Meanwhile, the manager Hussain did not check in once to clarify or reassure us that we did not owe the contractor anything outstanding as we made payment on time to VGC. Then Hamid further disclosed that VGC definitely overcharge their clients and he said our project should not have taken as long as it did to complete, which left a very negative feeling for us. I felt anxious throughout thinking Hamid was going to show up and threaten my family and I have small children at home, it was not a good feeling. There was also design flaws where calculations were flawed and it required my husband to step in and alter the design and measurements. All in all the project was a disaster for us and we do feel overcharged. I do not recommend them. They were not professional and the trades they hire are also not professional. Don't be persuaded by the smooth salesman pitch from the manager, it's all smoke and mirrors because when things went wrong they definitely didn't care about their customer.
