BEWARE. Our experience with Encore Piano was not just frustrating, it was completely unacceptable. We hired Encore Piano to move a piano from a friend's residence to our home on May 28th. When we first reached out for a quote, the company only asked for the piano size - there was no intake process, no checklist, no confirmation, nothing. We had no idea there was additional information we were expected to provide, nor did anyone explain that to us. We trusted that a professional moving company would know how to guide the process and collect the necessary information. That trust was completely misplaced. When the movers arrived, they immediately told us they had been misinformed about the size of the piano; it was actually twice as large as what they were told by their management. This was shocking, as you would think as a professional piano moving company they would come prepared to properly handle such a fragile piece. You could tell the movers were upset with their manager as a result - they only had two guys to complete the job when the piano size really required three to safely move the piano to its final destination. The movers also exclaimed they were unaware of stairs at both the pickup and drop-off locations, which they claimed changed the scope of the move and ultimately the cost. Again, no one from the company had ever asked us about stairs. We had assumed that all costs to properly complete the move were included in our quote. To make matters worse, the movers told us that the total cost for the move was $350, even though we had already confirmed directly with the manager that our quote was $300. This was the first sign of how disorganized the company was. We felt like we were being taken advantage of from the moment they arrived. When we called the owner on the spot to resolve the issue, She acknowledged the miscommunication and told us they would need to come back another day with additional personnel to complete the move for an additional $500.  Although this was frustrating they couldn't resolve the issue that day, we were understanding and ultimately made the decision to move forward at that price and rescheduled the move. But the day before the confirmed rescheduled move, the owner called us back in an incredibly rude, combative tone, flat-out claiming she never provided that quote. When we reminded her of the conversation, she put us on hold, then came back saying she did provide that quote, but that it only applied if the move had been completed the same day. This detail was never mentioned in our original discussion and her sudden change of story and contradiction, within a matter of seconds, made it painfully obvious that she was making things up to cover for their mistakes and disorganization. What was most infuriating is that the owner offered zero solutions. Even though this entire issue was caused by their own lack of process and internal mistakes, she made no effort to resolve her mistakes. Instead, she was aggressive, dismissive, repeatedly interrupted us, yelled over us, and ultimately hung up on us. We remained calm and respectful throughout the phone call, despite how blatantly unprofessional and unacceptable her behavior was in those moments. Honestly, it was laughable. This was their mistake from the very beginning, and looking back her defensiveness and twisting the truth was a tell-tale sign of why her business is managed so poorly. That being said, we are incredibly RELIEVED we are not trusting our family heirloom piano in Encore Piano's hands. We would happily pay more to work with a company that is thorough, professional, and actually capable of handling a move of this kind. The last thing anyone should risk is compromising their piano with a company that is as disorganized and careless as Encore Piano. We absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND this company under any circumstances. read more

Adrian, Chico, Dan, and Robert just left our house. Those guys are absolute rock stars. We have the worst possible scenario when it comes to delivering and setting up a piano. It had to go upstairs and around three corners. We had also just had our walls painted and wood railing stained. This was not a keyboard or stand up piano they deliver either, but of course a full-size grand. The two lead guys had an amazing attitude, they came up with a strategy and the piano was upstairs and set up and ready to be played in less than 15 minutes. Not a single mark on the wall. Everyone was vaccinated and wore a mask which was greatly appreciated. Possibly worth sharing, this is the company that field piano uses and they sell six-figure Steinways. TERRIBLE. Truly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. Key information like stairs and access points was never requested during the quoting process, which created serious problems on moving day. The pricing suddenly changed without warning, and when we tried to clarify, the way it was handled was beyond unprofessional. The owner in particular was extremely difficult to deal with--completely argumentative, cutting us off constantly, raising her voice, and ultimately hanging up mid-conversation. We stayed calm and respectful throughout, but her behavior was absolutely unacceptable, especially for a business owner. The whole situation became so ridiculous it was hard to believe, especially since the issue was entirely on their end. My piano was so protected by their company that I ended up Not needing to tune it afterwards because it was perfectly intact!!! Five stars without a doubt. I would give more if available. We used Encore a number of years ago when we had carpet replaced in our home, so our piano had to be moved but never left our home. I used Encore yesterday and they were supurb. They moved two pianos for me. The care for my instruments was amazing. The movers were Ceasar and Chico. Encore should be proud to have them as their employees. I also want to say how wonderful the Customer Service is at Encore. This entire process started probably 3 months ago when I made the first call to get information from Encore on moving and also storage availability. This piano is a family heirloom and I recently inherited it from my sister in Atascadero. I was very anxious about the move to my home in the L.A. area. I also have a long flight of very steep steps to my front door. When Dan called to confirm delivery, I nervously asked about my stairway and he chuckled, saying they were excited! These guys were wonderful. They took my Mother's beloved piano to a new location for someone else to love. They gave me a text message the night before to give me a narrowed down three hour window and then a courtesy call 30 minutes prior to let me know they were on their way. The men were very respectful to my home and disassembled our baby grand and carefully wrapped it up and put it in the truck. There was no damage to my home or to the piano. I needed a piano moved from a friend's house to our house. After putting out my request on Yelp I got several bids from local piano movers. Encore had a $25 dollar off for using cash deal, and so they ended up being the cheapest. They also assured me they were licensed and insured. Once we settled on a date, they let me know the timing window the day before. They came when they said they would, had the proper truck and equipment, took the cash once they were finished, and it was all very easy-peasy-lemon-squeazy. read more

It turns out that getting a basically free piano off of Craigslist isn't the amazing deal you'd hope for, because even a little spinet is way heavier and more delicate than you'd expect and it's not like moving a sofa at all. Even if you rent a truck, and that costs more than you think, you'll need several burly friends and you're probably going to break the thing anyway. The spinet's owner was in a hurry to get rid of it, and I wanted a cheap, fast solution. I reached out to five companies and got quotes of up to A THOUSAND DANG DOLLARS for a move from Mulholland to LB. Not so free now, are you, piano? Encore won the day with the lowest quoted price of $225, less a $20 cash discount. We communicated via Yelp and eventually over the phone, and two days later it was done. The two guys showed up on time, gently whisked the 500lb. baby into the truck, and later brought it up a mercifully short set of steps into my house. 5 STARS! When researching piano movers, I reached out to 3 companies for quotes. Encore provided me an accurate quote without any up-charges or surprise fees, or transport/distance fees to move my piano from San Diego to Los Angeles. I requested their insurance and license information to verify, and received it within minutes. The move went smoothly and the guys were professional, on time, and efficient. I've seen movers take advantage of time, be slow to move, but these guys were quick, but not overly rushed, and called me 30 minutes prior to arriving at pick up and delivery. My concern was the pick up was on day 1 and delivery the next day, as others quoted me 3-4x higher for a same day move, yet wouldn't provide me with their insurance information. I'm happy to say everything went smoothly and I'll absolutely be using Encore Piano Moving again.
