Dr. Seul is excellent -- he doesn't push extra surgeries on people and he really knows his stuff. I thought his bedside manner is great too. Like most good oral surgery offices, they take money up front and then bill your insurance. The only thing I wish were different is the process of getting your money back if the insurance paid the doctor instead of the patient. This process was too long and required too many reminders. read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Seul for biopsies of oral lesions, and I'm so happy he was the one she sent me to. Starting with my phone call to schedule a consultation, I was truly impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the front office staff. (Susan and Kathy) My first appointment was very reassuring. Dr. Seul is kind, gentle, and fully explained the procedures I'd undergo. When I returned for this surgery a few weeks later, it just couldn't have been any easier. Dr. Seul and Anthony (Surgical Assistant) took wonderful care of me. Everything went exactly as planned-perfect. I'm healing nicely and am grateful for the expert care. My experience with this practice has been absolutely stellar, and I wholeheartedly recommend them! read more

As an osteoporosis patient who takes prolia, I knew that I had to select an oral surgeon who keeps current with research and recommended protocols and who would work with my endocrinologist as a team. Dr. Seul is just that type of oral surgeon. He is highly skilled and knowledgeable and has impeccable credentials and excellent communication skills. He discussed my care with my physician to come up with a treatment plan that minimized risks from both of their perspectives. He is also extremely compassionate and kind and his calming demeanor helped to lessen my fears about the extraction. I was very nervous about having to have this procedure done and he made the entire process so much less anxiety inducing. The office staff and technicians are also kind and friendly. Everything was clearly explained at each step in the process. I highly recommend Dr. Seul and Encinitas Oral Surgery. No one likes to have a tooth extracted, but if it something that you need to do, Dr. Seul is the right choice! read more

Dr. Seul and his staff are amazing! They were kind and helpful and checked in on me after my wisdom tooth removal. Would definitely recommend! read more

This office is terrible. The line of communication is horrible. The doctor has terrible bedside manners and is all about the money. I will not refer this doctor to anyone. He is all about the money and have reported him to AMA. read more

I met Dr. Seul in 2001 when I needed three dental implants. Since I live in Point Loma, he was quite a drive from my home, there are other oral surgeons much closer to me, and I honestly can't remember why I chose to make such a long drive back then, but I did. That said, Dr. Seul and his staff were very impressive and did a great job. I was very happy with the results. Now, here it is 2018 and I need an additional implant. My local dentist here in the Point Loma area told me he knows a great oral surgeon locally, so I suspect the local guy is good. It would have been less of a trip, less of a hassle, etc. to just go there. However, I chose to go back to Dr. Seul. He did such a great job before, and was so professional, I just felt why risk my health to someone I don't know? So I went with Dr. Seul again. That should tell you how much I think of him, his staff, and his work. I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Seul and the whole staff at Wheeler & Seul took such great care of my mouth! Dental implants can be tricky and you want to go with the best. Wonderful bedside manner, I loved that they went over everything with me beforehand, payment, what to expect, the implant surgery itself. Do not take a chance wit oral surgeons, choose the most qualified professionals. As in these guys! read more

My son had such a great experience in this office with wisdom teeth removal that we decided to bring our youngest daughter here to have her wisdom teeth removed. Just as before the office was very professional up beat and Jan actually remembered us from when our son came in. Our daughter was terrified that she was going to go to sleep and not wake up, the Assistant was very reassuring and understanding of our daughters fear. Our daughter told us that they walked her through every step and they were very compassionate and before she realized what was happening she was waking up. She had very little pain and we controlled that with the medication given. The assistant was once again very detailed with post op instructions and same as our son they took her down in the wheelchair. I would highly recommend if you have to have any oral surgery that you go to this office. Amazing doctors and staff!! read more

Dr Seúl provided excelente care. Explain procedures well and he did wonderful implant surgery. Thank you so much. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Avoid at all costs! Worst administrative staff in North County. I had an implant with Dr. Wheeler 10 years ago. Zero issues. I came back recently for work with my daughter and the staff was awful, actually humiliating because of my request to use insurance. There are many other choices in North County. Please avoid Wheeler & Seul. Just google oral surgeons in google maps. Virtually every office is better than this one. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Seul and his amazing team. They are professional, curtious , caring and kind. But it was his surgical assistant Denée who calmed my nerves and took away my anxiety. She reasurred me that I was in good hands with Dr. Seul and I had nothing to worry about. Before I knew it we were laughing like old friends and I had forgot how nervous I was. I had heard so many horror stories of getting dental implants and how painful it was, that I kept putting it off. I was pleased to find that I had worried for nothing. My surgery went smooth and healing was a breeze. No pain at all. Thank You Dr. Seul and Denée read more

My son had 4 wisdom teeth taken out by Dr Currimbhoy, and the experience was overall very positive. Dr Currimbhoy made sure she explained the procedure and risks during the initial consult. On the day of the surgery, she put him at ease (he is not great with needles), and he came out of the procedure feeling quite good. the protocol for pain management was very well explained and worked as expected. Overall a positive experience. read more

Thank you Dr. Seul for your patience and professionalism. This is my second implant at your office and both times you and Dr Wheeler have thoroughly guided me through the entire process of what to expect. Your staff is also 5 star which makes for a comfortable experience from the first contact to final check up. While I hope this is my last implant for a few years, if I need another, your office is #1 on my list. Thank you again for making this experience free of stress and comfortable. Linda L. read more

My daughter recently had her wisdom teeth taken out here and she had the best experience! Dr. Seul was so informative, attentive and skilled. Before the surgery, she was a little scared hearing about her friends experiences at other offices, but Danee was so kind to her which really helped ease her nerves. She also did a great job of comforting her after the surgery! A few of my daughter's friends and her had wisdom teeth surgeries around the same time, and we would definitely say that her experience was the most positive and her recovery time was the quickest, even with one impacted tooth. She was able to eat solid food the next day and the swelling went down in a day and a half. She saw the dentist for a cleaning a couple weeks after the surgery, and she said that Dr. Seul did a fantastic job and was surprised the holes had closed that quickly. Dr. Seul also did a great job prepping her for the surgery and recovery. We can't thank Dr. Seul enough. read more

BEWARE!! DR. John Seul maybe okay if everything goes well but he has no clue on how to diagnosis or manage a complication that may occur during his procedure. I underwent a extraction of a molar after which I continued to complain of persistent burning, nail-like pain within the extraction site and adjacent healthy teeth next to the extraction. Over the next 16 months I saw him with these complaints and his response was he did not know why I was having so much pain even though nothing had showed up on my x-rays. Following his advice I had 3 more teeth extracted because of pain and one implant placed all which proved to be uncecessary as he failed to recognize a complication known as nueropathy that he had caused with the first extraction. After all this there still was no resolution of the pain and the implant could not be used because it made my pain worse. No evaluation and no work-up for the cause was ever ordered. WRONG!!! Finally I went to see a different Dentist and surgeon for a second opinion who both diagnosed me with a nerve injury related to the first extraction. They both referred me for a nuerologic evaluation confirming nerve injury related to his extraction procedure. This is a complication listed on his consent form describing pain as a symptom following an extraction causing a nerve injury. Clearly he has not read his own consent form. I have been told by a dental oral pain specialist at Cedars Sinai that this should never have happened and that a knowledgeable surgeon should have at the very minium referred me to a nuerologist and no additional extractions should have been preformed based on my symptoms. NEVER HAPPENED!!! He even missed an infection at the site of one of his surgeries. There are three major complications of tooth extraction and he missed 2 of them- nerve injury and infection. My life is now terrible with 4 missing teeth and severe nueropathic pain which has been diagnosed as Trigmenal Neuralgia which could of been avoided if he was competent enough to recognize my symptoms earlier or at all. Due to his failure of not recognizing my injury I may never have teeth again. I live with pain that is present 24 hours a day often disabling in intensity. I have to take anti-seizure medications that are used for Trigeminal Nueralgia which have adverse side effects that I continually experience so severe at times that I had to go the emergency room. To this day he never admitted he did any wrong doing even though he received the second opinion consults stating my diagnosis nor did he even call to apologize. His only concern was to tell me that everything he had done looked good, my complaints had nothing to do with care and he had no idea why I was having so much pain. I WOULD NEVER WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANOTHER PATIENT!! He may have an MD after his name. This is negligent care!! AVOID AVOID AVOID ' read more

I had my wisdom teeth extracted here by Dr. Currimbhoy and had the most wonderful experience. All of the staff including the front and back office are all very professional and caring. The day of my surgery I was more then prepared, and everything went great. I definitely recommend this office to anyone looking for exceptional care. read more

Dr. Wheeler does impeccable work. I have had 2 implants done by Dr. Wheeler, he is kind, explains everything and is caring. The staff is very professional and nice. I have experienced bad oral surgeons in the past where my cheek was sutured to my gums and had poor after care. Dr. Wheeler's work is amazing, no problems and the follow-ups are just as good and caring. I would very highly recommend Dr. Wheeler. I know I'm in good hands with him which helps with anxiety with any dental procedure. read more

Be careful about their billing practices. I went in for a dental implant and was quoted $2400. By the time I left my bill was more than double that. One add on after another, that I was not aware of. I believe the surgery was competently performed but I was very unhappy, not only with the bill, but how it was handled. Nobody returned calls and when I finally reached someone it was clear they were just going through the motions and not listening to what I was saying. Any range of costs they give you will always be the absolute maximum, no matter how well the procedure went. I would recommend looking elsewhere unless you want to pay absolute top dollar. read more

I had a consultation with Dr Seul and was reassured that extracting my wisdom teeth was a better option to filling the cavity. I had one of the four already removed at another location and explained how it was a terrible experience. they could not keep me under so I was awake for the 5 hours it took them to remove one tooth. Amy roots are long, thin, curvy, and close to the nurve. Dr. Seul told me that he would have the three teeth out with 1.5 hours and I wouldn't remember a thing. He pointed out my roots in the new xrays and said he understood why the other dentist had troubles, but he deals with this all the time and should be no problem. I was charged for that consultation and the xrays that day. I show up to my 7:45am appointment 15 minutes early with my wife. 7:50 Am another man shows up for his 8:00 am appointment. At 8:11 am they take him back and we are still waiting. 8:20 they call me back and prep me for the Dr. Seul. I'm waiting for awhile and the nurse keeps leaving to check to see if the doctor is still on the phone or not. Eventually Dr. Seul comes in does not express any concernes or warn me of potential issues. Just gets the sedation rolling and starts work. I'm still awake.... and they didn't do a good job numbing the area..... it was painful. After 2hours I leave with a wisdom tooth still I'm my mouth!! Didn't tell me why and did tell my wife why until 8hours later. "It was difficult removing your teeth and your roots are close to your nerve." Well... duh... why did I pay for the consultation? Was it just so you could tell my lies and build my faith in you just so you could take my money? As a professional why didn't you call me any time between the consultation and day of surgery to share your concerns? or even today before you started working on my face? Last but not least, The one wisdom tooth I wanted extracted the most is the only one I have left. read more
