Tamara & Garden Mama's completely transformed my backyard. I would describe them as punctual, kind,…read morecreative, and super hard working. They came with great suggestion for plants based on where the sunlight hits my yard. & my grass is alive and healthy a year later! Tamara listened to my desires to have a path in my backyard and she created a beautiful stone & DG path for the walkway. FYI: Photo is before the grass and plants grew in. Here's a little poem about my experience working with Garden Mamas to landscape my backyard: In my yard, where weeds once reigned, Garden Mamas came and changed the game! From drab to fab, oh what a sight, A transformation from day to night. With stubborn weeds in full retreat, Now low maintenance grass under our feet. Mulch and plants, a lovely view, A gorgeous space, our yard feels new! Here we host, with joy and glee, Friends and family, all agree. Garden Mamas, with their skill so grand, Have turned my yard into a wonderland.

We hired Garden Mamas to maintain our mature hillside garden. While we thought it a bit strange…read morethat we had a different crew out most every time, we were assured by Tamara that she had communicated what needed to be done - she was managing the crew. This method seemed to work mostly, although we had to tell the crew each visit what to do, as mostly instructions had been partially communicated. One day, she sent two new people. We told them to trim two bushes on the stairwell and to pick up the leaves, nothing else. This was also communicated to Tamara a few days prior, but like most times, the crew seemed clueless as to what to do. When they were done and had left, we discovered that they had BUTCHERED our garden - most of five++ years of growth was cut away and in a most unappealing fashion. Her crew ripped out plants that a previous crew had installed only a month prior, had trimmed four bushes that were covering an unsightly wall into lollipop shapes, completely exposing the wall, trimmed new growth off of once per season budding plants without any care for shape or aesthetics, butchered slow growing manzanita plants that may never recover, etc etc etc. We were appalled and contacted her. Tamara responded to our concerns, but would not or could not take personal or financial responsibility for making us whole. She told us that the crew she sent was inexperienced and had never worked on a personal, mature garden (only on storage facilities and office complexes), and that she did not have the $$ to replace the plants destroyed or to pay for someone else to replace the plants (as we told her that we could not work with her anymore). We thought about going to the CSLB so that we could at least recover her bond, but did the time/money calculus and finally settled on her paying for two plants to be replaced, at another landscaper's wholesale cost (approx $500). So far, it has cost us over $10000 to get the garden back to where it was, and it will take a few years for it to look as good as it did prior to November 2025. We tried to support this independent, woman-owned business; but her model of a different crew every time coupled with an inability to run her business in a fiscally responsible manner makes it impossible for us to recommend her to ANYONE

As always, the crew arrived on time and the work was done exactly as promised. We met with Kevin to discuss the tasks (cleaning yard; trimming trees and shrubs; weeding and moving plants; etc.). Sometimes Kevin has had a crew of 6 or 8; this year, it was three. The work was done by Kevin's nephew John plus Juanito and Benito. All worked diligently, taking only a short lunch break. As always, they listened to our requests and accommodated our wishes. John, when appropriate, offered helpful advice about possible options; he was consistently friendly and considerate and it was a pleasure to have his help. Years ago, we had used two other companies but were not satisfied. (One even had a worker who fell fast asleep in our yard after drinking at lunch!) We are so pleased to have found Kevin's Gardening Service and we will definitely continue to use them!

D Garcia Landscaping completed a large fence project for us and we are extremely happy with the…read moreresults! This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!

Work needed: - major clean-up of our front and back yards - fencing between multiple neighbors - adding grass and new sprinklers to the front yard - adding turf to the rear yard - about 30+ plants to multiple areas + mulch Dago's team was very efficient in their work and always kept us updated on progress. It was amazing to watch the work get done and see the transformation over just under 2 weeks of work. I'm very impressed and recommend them to anyone looking for this type of work. I would absolutely use them again in the future. Thanks so much!

He was able to tidy the path and patio & spread the bluefines around. However, the good service ended there. I had to ask for the pathway to be tamped down after he told me it was finished. The path was then tamped but there were tamp marks left all over. (I was able to quickly sweep it so it was smooth.) He told me the patio could not be tamped. (I tamped it down myself & evened it out.) The patio was left with footprints & dust all over. (I hosed it down so it was presentable.) Annoying but not worth a bad review. I am writing this because he put mulch, dirt, rocks, debris into my green bin. It is filled almost to the top. He covered it up with things that had been in the green bin by me. I can only think this was to hide what he'd put in. I can't even move the bin at all now! I have had to hire someone to take it to the dump. He also dumped a bunch of old dg into a large hole in the corner of my garden and covered it up with mulch. I will have to dig it out and have it taken to the dump. I texted him to tell him this was unacceptable and received no response. So much for prompt communication & standing by your work. I don't know why I got the lousy treatment when everyone else on here got stellar service.
