While we had all of the modern conveniences, (satellite TV, DVD, VCR, stereo system, refrigerator, coffee and tea bar, running water, toilet, etc), we were also able to hike, grill steaks and build a campfire. This place is absolutely gorgeous and stunning. A perfect place to unwind and get away for a relaxing, quiet vacation. The barn has a loft bedroom, a private indoor hot tub and fully equipped kitchen. The bed, in particular, was a dreamy experience with the biggest mattress topper we have ever encountered. There is a separate billiard room with a big screen TV. When we arrived, there was super relaxing music playing and a mister with essential oils creating the perfect, soothing scent. The Barn is the last cabin after two gorgeous, spring-fed ponds which made for a quiet, secluded experience. We will absolutely be back again and again to try all of their cabins in the beautiful Ozark Mountains.

The hotel's front desk team and manager, Olivia, are a massive bright spot in an otherwise terrible hotel. The bellhop, Marcos, was also incredibly friendly and very helpful. Without those two people this place would be absolute trash. I can't in good conscience give them 1 star, even though they deserve it. The overall service is abysmal. The bar staff stood there talking for nearly 3 1/2 minutes right in front of me before acknowledging my presence. This was at 2pm and they weren't busy. They were actually having a conversation about their recent break and their plans for after work. As far as the room, it's old and things creak - which is likely part of its charm. But the beds suck and this is not part of the charm. The balcony door doesn't close correctly so it's hot as hell inside when it's hot outside. This is also because the AC unit can't keep up. But at least the plumbing doesn't work. First thing I did was blow my nose and threw a small bit of folded toilet paper in the toilet and flushed it. It didn't flush. Spoke with the hotel and they said it would be fixed. When we returned the toilet was still not working properly. Amazingly, these issues weren't even close to the worst part. The restaurant staff were absolute trash. I wish I remembered the barista's name from the coffee bar in the hotel's main dining room. I went down to get my wife and I a coffee as we were checking out. She barely acknowledges me. When she finally does she rudely tells me that she has to take care of the dining room guests first and that I must wait. Given my experience with other staff, I just told her not to worry and started to walk off. She called me back and said she could get to me after the order she was currently finishing. I'm guessing she thought I was headed to complain by the immediate change in her attitude. It then took her over 13 min to make two lattes. I came back to pay and she rudely instructed me to go to the front desk to break my $100 bill to pay. I came back to pay, and 2 10oz (approximate) coffees were almost $19. This hotel sucks, it's not haunted except by shitty service. And it is so overpriced. One balcony room was $335 + $35 for early check-in - shitty service included.

Last night, there was a party with a live band (particularly terrible drummer BTW) right under our room until after midnight. It was so loud in our room that we couldn't watch a movie, talk to each other, or sleep. We could only put in earplugs and wait for it to be over. I could still hear all the lyrics through the earplugs, that's how loud it was. We are leaving a day early, even though we have already paid for tonight's room, because last night was so miserable. The hotel has effectively made this first floor room unusable on nights when the club right under it is open (W-Sa), and we were certainly not informed when we booked at their full price rate that this VERY LOUD party would be happening basically IN OUR ROOM UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT. Just ridiculous. I would not book the New Orleans Hotel first-floor suite again and would not recommend it to anyone else. As far as what the hotel should do to improve this problem: do not rent this suite out on nights when you are having loud parties right under it, and refund my money for this unusable hotel room.
