Emzara's is located just outside of the ark. It's recommended that you either eat first and then explore the Ark, or explore and then eat. We chose the latter. It was super busy inside but the place is huge!! At first, it looked like there was no seating, but there's tons of extra room upstairs; you just have to walk up and down stairs with your food. There are lots of options on the buffet; salads, hot entrees, desserts, sides, etc. While the website states that they offer lots of options for various diets and allergies, I found it a bit difficult to find dairy free options. All but one of the salads already had cheese dumped all over them. As far as dessert goes, the only dairy free option was also full of nuts, unfortunately. The food was good. Nothing to write home to Mom about but it was fine. We had five people in our party and all said the same. I believe it was about $18 per person and yes, they actually did have two of everything (harhar- Ark pun). If we were to visit the Ark again (which was really cool), I do think I would get grub elsewhere; there's the market village and other options through the gift shop. I mean, it wasn't terrible. Emzara's Kitchen My family and I decided to try out Glice skating the day after Christmas and then eat dinner at Emzara's Kitchen. I guess this was a bad day for it, because apparently everyone else was doing the same thing. The line to get into the restaurant was way out the door. We had to wait in the cold for 10 minutes or so. The cashiers are right inside the door, so there isn't much waiting room inside. I feel like it could be configured better for people waiting. Once we finally got in and paid, $46.60 for 2 adults and 2 kids, the place was packed. We finally found a spot to sit upstairs. We had to traipse up and down the stairs for food. Luckily, there was a drink machine up there, but it was out of ice. The plates they give you are pretty small. So plan to make several trips, which is rather inconvenient when you have small children and are sitting upstairs. As for the food, the buffet is good sized. I was very disappointed with the salad options. They were all premade salads. If you are trying to eat salad and avoid dairy and meat, you are out of luck because they all had either dairy or meat on them. I was expecting the standard buffet where you have a couple of greens and lots of toppings to choose from and can make a custom salad. Not the case here. They have lots of other food options. The butternut squash and Brussels sprouts were a couple of good and interesting options, although the Brussels were super salty. They have several meat options, lots of fried stuff and lots of dessert. The food I ate was good. I don't know that I got my $15 worth, but the price wasn't bad for a tourist attraction. It just didn't have enough salad options and healthy food for my tastes. My recommendation would be to not eat here at a peak time and if you are trying to eat healthy and plant based, your options are very limited. read more

I've never been a big fan of buffet restaurants and for this one, I expected typical buffet quality. It's the only place warm for a meal and the prices are reasonable so we decided to go for it. This is seriously a great buffet place to dine in. I went for the Christmas soup and boy was I hooked. There's also so much variety of food (from salads to meats to desserts). I also love the cheesy Brussels sprouts (and I'm glad to see lots of healthy options). I wish they had more of the Christmas soup but it seems like I wasn't the only one who had more than a serving of it that they ran out of it quick. Everything I tried tasted great. This is a buffet at the Ark and only real food place to sit and eat most of the year. In the summer i believe the have fast food options outside. The layout had an area for salads of all kinds and salad bar, there were 2 hot food stations with the same food that was tasty and plenty of options to make most anyone happy. Also was a drink section and small deserts bar. I did not pay attention to the needs of anyone with specific food issues - so I'd research that before going if it's a concern. The cost seemed a bit high - cause you can only eat so much. But it seemed an ok Value and convenient. We came here based on a recommendation from a guy I work with. I read all the reviews and they're mixed with some expecting more, some saying it was great, I say it was average. I say that because we weren't expecting 4 or 5 star restaurant quality, we were tired, hot and hungry. It was priced right, and had more variety of food than any buffet I've seen. And it was huge!! Eight serving lines and the place was packed, it did seem like it was designed after an outdoors outfitter store, but we tried a bunch of different things in small quantities and some were good and some were just ok. What can you say, it's a buffet. I will say that the fried chicken was very good. To me it was the right thing to do in the condition we were in, it was hot, humid, the place was nice and cool and we were hungry. Friendly, helpful staff. Everyone worked hard to make the experience enjoyable. They warn people with food allergies up front what to avoid. The prices were very reasonable for a tourist attraction. $13.99 for adults and $6.99 for children. All the food was kept full and fresh. Unfortunately, the I've cream machines weren't working properly (no vanilla or twist only chocolate), but there are multiple options for dessert. There's even chocolate milk with free refills, yay! It's not a huge variety, but there was plenty for the whole family to choose from. I wish it stayed open a little longer to give people time to eat after the museum closes. Ezmara's buffet had good fried chicken, average other meats, average salad with limited add ons, below average dessert selections (the apple cobbler was above average though). Restaurant was clean, ample seating and certainly convenient location for ark tourists. We arrived at Emzara's at 5:30p and the restaurant closes at 6pm, so thjs might account for the limited meat selection, empty potato soup container and dried out potatoes and beans sides. The Mac/cheese was good, and the salad lettuce was fresh and not wilted. Overall, it was an average buffet experience that was a little pricey. I think it has potential to be good and we may have had a diminished experience because we were close to closing time. read more

I appreciate everything AIG does but this food was subpar. Everything needed seasoning, potatoes and rice were instant, very basic cafeteria food. Well served, helpful staff and I appreciated the labeling of food. I'm gluten free because of an autoimmune disease, I had to ask a couple times because the label was missing and they were very kind. Almost every food item had soy on its label. I would've preferred to pack a can of tuna and fruit. Even the pudding tasted off. The coffee was very thin and all they had was powder creamer. Went to see the Ark but after all the walking, I was hungry! Saw some reviews of this place and after looking around for other places to go eat and reading reviews, minimum 30 min drive and I have hungry husband and kids and that would not be a good idea. So we went in this place and I'm so glad we did. The salad bar was perfect- many choices! Loved the cranberry apple nut salad. Also all the other food was fresh- Mac n cheese, steak, fried chicken and all food I picked was amazing! Now, save room for the white chocolate cranberry bread pudding is to die for! Everyone loved it!!!! So again- save room for that. Very clean place and very cold. The ac was high and my kids were cold. Over all- go here! Price is really cheap and it has a wide spread of food... 3 counters for starters, 3 counters for main, 2 pop fountains and 2 dessert table. It's all self serve. So you just have to walk in, pay and eat all you want. The food is absolutely delicious, and they have such a wide that you have a hard time picking what to eat. The wait was not too bad, although when the line went out the door they did not add an additional checker. - and it was a cold day. Plenty of family style seating. Not bad, but not great either. Food was so typical of an economy buffet. Service was very limited. You serve yourself and take your used dishes to the counter yourself. Also, empty drinks dispensers were ignored. The fried chicken was good, but the pizza bites were no substitute for real pizza. Several of the desserts were outstanding including the coconut chocolate balls and the cobbler. Salads were also good--but not special. Perhaps a variety of greens would have helped. Still for those who want to eat nearby this is likely their best bet and everyone will leave full.
