I found Sergio through Thumbtack after struggling to find any handyman services that weren't booked…read moreout weeks/months in advance and actually responded to me. I emailed Sergio from the website to initiate the process and from our initial email we began communicating via text message. Sergio came out on a Monday to provide a quote for significant yard work. The yard work included removing tons of overgrown and invasive plants on my grandmother-in-law's Kingston property (think blackberries et al) and removal of some random junk on the property, as well as cutting down of bamboo (grandma's property has a creek running through it and there's more bamboo than the fertile lands of Asia). Sergio reviewed everything we wanted done and quoted it would take about 40 hours with 3 guys to process the work and removal of everything we wanted done. The rate is $25 per hr per worker so the estimate worked out to about 3k. Of course, I'm always expecting unexpected things to come up and I have zero experience hiring someone to do significant yard work like this. Sergio and I agreed to the work via text after receiving the quote. The next Monday morning he and one of his guys showed up promptly at 8am and began hacking away at junipers and blackberry plants on the property with machetes (what. haha.) I live in Seattle so I wasn't easily able to come out and constantly check on their progress. Sergio had one guy with him on Monday and Tuesday-Thursday he had two guys with him. Initially, we planned on them finishing on Friday but something came up and they promptly came (four guys, actually) on Saturday and finished everything off. The actual cost for (approximately) 40 hours with 3 guys was about $3,300 with about $750 in dump run fees (yeah bringing all those trimmings and leaves sure get expensive at the Kitsap dump, I've done it on my own in the past). And then sales tax for his services a couple hundred. Overall, it was about 4k, which was 1k over budget but seeing as $750 was dump run costs and like $350 was sales tax, it totally met my expectations. Sergio and his crew are polite, fast, friendly, and hard working. I'm pleased that we selected Sergio for our yard work. They did a significant amount of yard waste hacking and removal. My grandmother-in-law is very attached to some of the plants so they were very careful about preserving and protecting specific plants (whichever plants so wanted stayed, and the overgrown invasive plants growing on top of them were removed) and Sergio and his crew were clearly professionals at handling these Pacific Northwestern flora. If you're looking for someone who will work hard for you and be very fair, I would recommend emailing, calling, or texting Sergio to bring him out for a quote. Other projects we are about to have done that Sergio may be involved with and stated he and his crew can do, and will quote separately: -power washing and painting her house -grading, levelling, and filling her drive way with rock -aerating and seeding grass and laying sod -placing pavers to create unprecedented walkways -removal of old fences and installation of new fences So in addition to yard and junk waste removal, as well as professionally manicuring her plants, shrubs, and trees, Sergio and his team can do pretty much anything. The tree was striking distance to the house, but their skilled climber chunked it down easily. They were aware of things that could be troublesome or damaged. No complaints. Second time, we had a tree come partially down, causing some damage to our deck. It was a precarious situation, but Steven came out, assessed, and started making a plan to try to do as little damage as possible. There was talk that we may have to cut the wire fencing I had to avoid causing more damage to the fence. Again, it was a very precarious situation and there were few options for safely dealing with the problem. They managed to take down the tree without causing any damage to the fence, cleaned up the branches, raked the front yard where they had been cutting the branches up, stacked the rounds neatly. and left everything else where we had discussed. A different reviewer complained about messy trucks and smelling marijuana. I honestly don't care about either of those things. The proof is in the pudding, and they were able to take care of the problems, have a good attitude, and move out quickly. Some members may be less social than others, but so am I. You may also consider that while you might have things done you want "your way," you may want to listen to the experts and let them handle things the right and safe way.

Victor knows trees and showed me three of the many Douglas Fir trees that were diseased and had to come down. He walked the property taking notes. We have an acre. He and his crew also got rid of enormous patches of blackberries and scotch broom, clearing the pasture and cleaning up the front and back yards. He had a huge job to do, left the site clean, and did excellent work. Our yard is 3/4 of an acre with many routes and hill tiers that must route around a basketball court, 2 levels of grass, a vegetable garden. There is nothing square or easy to plan for in the yard. He gave me a quote and it seemed reasonable. (I did get tentative quotes from other companies). One thing I asked him to do was to set up the system so that we could change the source of water from our well to the public water as needed based on how much water was being produced by the well. I explained that I didn't want any areas to be missed and that it shouldn't be a skimpy job. I also covered various zones that I wanted to be set up differently because we have a vegetable garden and a basketball court, so we wanted the sprinklers to not waste water by just soaking the court. I also explained that I wanted all the sprinklers to be high quality pop-ups. Early in the installation, he found that the pressure from the public water wasn't high enough to support the number of sprinklers in each zone as predicted. The water pressure was strangely different from when he first measured it. We are in a rather remote location so that was understandable. So he adjusted the number of zones at no additional cost to me and re-designed the trenching and pipelines. By the way, he used 1" pipes which was much bigger than I had thought he would use. I was predicting 3/4". But everything was done at a commercial level that was built to last. The installation went well and he and his team worked tirelessly from morning to 7pm everyday till the job was done. upon inspection of the work as he progressed, he installed quality pop-ups with rubber hose to the mainlines that allows the pop-ups to be stepped on without causing a break in the connection. That was a truly professional touch. The trenches were very deep and he covered them all very cleanly. I now have a fully automated sprinkler system with a full control system and it works great. We're now talking about other work around the yard now as well.
