Rivak comes to lead my workouts in my modest home gym, so I can get my workout in in less time than I was taking to commute to and from the gym, and pricing is very reasonable. -I am 53 and, while I have always been active, I've lost ground in the last few years between hitting 50 and working too much (including relocating to a rural part of New England (and back again to AZ, yay!)). The one hour workout is highly effective as we go through HIIT (High intensity interval training) circuits involving a combination of weights and cardiovascular exercises. One of my sons moved to Utah to work as a river guide. He paused his membership because there is no gym in Moab. When the season was over he moved to Provo and tried to reactivate his membership. Instead of doing that, these guys canceled his membership and signed him up as a new member... at the higher rate. We were locked in at introductory prices. Totally dishonest. When my son confronted them on it they said there was nothing they could to about it. Now, my youngest is getting older and wants to go to the gym with me. He is 14. I should be able to take him with me because I have guest privileges. But no! You can't bring your kids... they have to be at least 16 years old. But don't worry, you can buy them their own membership at 14 years old, you just can't bring them as a guest. Again these people are dishonest. I was fed some line about waivers and policy. It's is what it is. Dishonest salesmanship and all about money.

I looked it up and saw that there is a trial class free and was able to sign up and get there within the hour. Huge thanks to Yvette who taught the class and Crystal who helped me get my waiver signed and gave me the lay of the land before and after the class. I've been to my fair share of gym classes and was really impressed with how spacious and clean this facility is. Also, Yvette was amazing with names and motivation and led us all through a thorough warm-up and cool down. The other women in class were welcoming and there were high fives given multiple times. I did modify a few exercises and was happy that this was not frowned upon. It's also worth noting that there were people of all fitness levels in class and that it was just a really supportive environment all around. As much as I hate burpees, I actually felt great doing them as a finisher at the end of class today. Needless to say, I got a great workout and I do hope to visit again soon.

Wow. Just wow…read more After a long and strenuous battle of getting out of Fitness Works clutches, I'm back in them again. I joined fitness evolution on a special promotion in January. $10 a month with no contract, cancel anytime. I get a charge on my card for $39 on March 20th for "Fitness Works ABC*. I begrudgingly call Fitness Works they tell me that apparently my account was never cancelled, (I sent in a written cancellation 8 months ago with no payments since.) They tell me to call customer service, so I do. They lady tells me my account has been cancelled for 8 months and she is not sure why I got a charge. She asks for my cancellation letter and a copy of my bank statement. I give it to her. She calls me back 10 minutes later and tells me oh looks like you joined fitness evolution in January. Apparently Fitness Works "merged" with Fitness Evolution. The $39 charge was an "annual fee", that I certainly did not agree too. She asks me if I have my contract, I told her I didn't have it and that Fitness Evolution never gave me a copy. I asked her if she had it, she told me that they where still getting all of the paperwork from the gym. I asked this ignoramus if I can send her a written cancellation like I did previously. She declined, and told me the new management was cracking down on cancellations. So, Fitness Works do you make it a habit of blindly charging your customers cards without any documentation? You have no problem charging my card without my knowledge or approval, but you make me jump through hoops to cancel my membership with your shitty gym. Peace.
