We contracted with Empire Floor to replace the carpet in our Family Room, which is adjacent to the Kitchen. We had as a sales person Dr. Elbert Gaiooer a man who purports to have a Doctorate in Divinity. He lied to us about the contract. We Talked to Leslie Burnett, the sales Manager, about their salesperson and the contract who lied to us about both the salesperson and the contract. The installers, in removal of our old carpet, caused a tripping hazard in the transition between the carpet and the kitchen. We have communicated with an Install manager who has lied to us about the repair of this hazard. The person who showed up 2 hours and 30 minutes late and spoke no English. He also tried to repair the problem by putting down tape where the transition was. They are not reliable and want their money in advance, so there is no recourse for the customer. Do not do business with this company because they are unreliable. The state board of Professional and Occupational Regulation should review all of the contracts this company has entered into with customers. Let the buyer beware. Don't buy from this company. We have since putchased a new transition ($55.99). We will purchase the cement to install it today. Empire Today has not paid for the repair. Edited. read more

If you have not signed a contract with these folks, STOP NOW!...DO NOT DO SO! My wife and I ordered new carpeting and laminate. From the very start, there were communication problems. First, they could not honor the quoted price on the I-Pad gizmo they do business on, because my "exclusive price" was too low... The salesman asked if I would sign a contract with a verbal promise that I would receive a contract amendment as to the price. Like an idiot, I agreed to do so. As it turned out, I did receive the e-mail, stating the correct price, but it was too late! I wanted an e-mail so that I could print out hard copy. After all, we're dealing with thousands of dollars here. When I called back, everyone I spoke to gave different answers as to why I was not receiving the information I requested. This continued until I reached the third business day. Under state law, I can cancel within three days, which I did, but not until I called them one last time. Now, as to my deposit, for which I am still waiting. Empire tells me that they have 7 - 10 business days to refund my money. Supposedly they "mailed" my credit card company the refund information on the 19th of this month. OK, if they have two weeks to refund my money, so be it; but, why can they take my money electronically but return it to me by snail mail??? Also, the salesman stated that he would not make a return or second visit to my home, in case I wanted to think about the price, (high pressure tactic). OK, as it turns out we may be needing more carpet. Wonder if he would have returned for a change order increasing the purchase, thus increasing his commission??? Now we'll never know, will we? We are now working with a local business to obtain our carpet and flooring. Hope this works out better. read more

Worst flooring experience of my life!!!! They didn't show up with the correct material, or the correct amount of material and refused to clean up after themselves. When I called and complained, I said I didn't want the same crew back to complete the job. Guess what, they sent back the same crew. I'm confident they knew I called and complained so then I got to enjoy the hugely uncomfortable feeling of having them in my home again, knowing I ratted them out. On the day of installation, the installers showed up and refused to finish the job. They claimed that there was not enough product. We also had a language issue, as their primary was Spanish. They left, with no explanation. I called the company, got the runaround and cancelled the order. I will not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I had an issue with one piece of wood and they want to charge me $2K to fix it. Their representative came and had me sign a job complete statement vs a job inspected statement. Hey!! They FINALLY refunded the remaining $275 they promised to give me over 3 months ago!! This was partially for the cleaning company I had to hire after they inexplicably left my balcony door WIDE open while cutting flooring & my AC was running. The other part was for the painter I had to bring in to finish their product & repair the chipped paint on the walls. They tried to argue about paying the 2 $25 cancellation fees for the cleaning company (because Empire No Showed)& I had to send the same detailed emails to someone different almost every 3-4 weeks to get movement on this. Absolutely a terrible experience from start to finish. I considered bumping them up to 2 stars, but considering this took nearly 5 months to complete a Flooring project that should've been done in less than 2 weeks I'm going to have to round down. I'll post pics of how great my floors look shortly, but the headache wasn't worth it. PM me if you want my re miserable details lmao ***update*** This experience has not gotten better. They contacted me here asking for me to email them & reference Yelp. Sure, let's get this ball rolling & wrap it up, well at least that's what I was thinking in my head...they scheduled the molding install & did an absolutely ATROCIOUS job!! Like WHOA!! I complained again & they got a skilled professional to come & do it all himself instead of a "team" of incompetent installers. This project looks great, but here I sit at nearly Christmas & they STILL haven't reimbursed me the $275 for having my condo, balcony & balcony door tracks cleaned! Quick side note; molding repair guy was scheduled for Monday, no call no show. Had to reschedule cleaning company. That was the first of 2 reschedulings that led to two $25 cancellation fees. I had been initially told to provide an invoice for the cleaning, but only provide a quote if it's over $300. Well the cleaning company was going to do it for $225, but then there were 2 less than 24 hour notice cancellations & we're at $275. Apparently the person I was originally emailing with over this quit or left the position as I didn't hear back after submitting my invoice for quite some time. Now mind you, I had been told repeatedly to wait 5-10 business days for the credit to go thru. Well now they are disputing paying the cancellation fees!! This entire experience started in late July or early August 2017. I'm about to lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & even go to the local news "Hank on Your Side" from Wavy 10!! I have exercised extreme patience, but I want my $275 back that I had to pay to clean my place due to the negligent behavior of Empires employees. we selected empire to put water resistance laminate in our kitchen and was coerced into getting the services plan and ensured if I have an issue call and they will come pop it out and put a new one in. well Ihad a problem and you guessed it they gave me every excuse under the sun as to why this plan was useless! The absolute customer service I have ever received from a business. I scheduled an appointment to have measurements completed for a carpet install. Salesperson came out and conducted measurements and provided a quote. I said the measurements were off by 75 square feet compared to the three other quotes. I let him know I wanted to review all the quotes as it was a big decision to make and I would get back to him. I asked if he could give me the name of the carpet I selected, warranty information, whether it was transferable to new owners if I sold my home and he refused to talk about it. He said if People don't go with the quote given they usually don't purchase so he wasn't going to give me any information. I called the customer service line to get a new representative to come out two days later, but he called to say he was running late. I called him back 45 mins later and he said he was 10 to 15 to 20 mins out. Wow! What a disappointment. I was so excited about my floors, but the workmanship was terrible. These photos will speak for themselves. They ran out of supplies so my one room job turned into 2. Even with the extra time they left my floors like this. They refused to leave the extra 1/4 round so I could fix it myself. Now I'm running around looking for something to match. They didn't put reducers around my tile. And they won't call me back. Next time I'll do it myself before I would ever allow them to come in my house. read more

The installation personnel are not the issue, the unethical sales rep, corporate representation, and downright disappointing behavior of "so called" humans are the issues. I provided the measurements from prior companies and the rep measured the area at nearly 1K square feet, placed an order for only 800 square feet of carpet and now I'm in "limbo" regarding when/where/how the carpet is going to get finished. I even mailed in the price comparison with square footage....to an Empire Rep, the Sales Rep also took a copy and they still tried to get over on me or the subcontract company. I had a line through my carpet downstairs in my dining room and bubbling in my upstairs carpet. They (after several months) sent an adjuster out to me who told me it was my fault. Fast forward to a few weeks later and my water heater bursts and floods the house so we have to pull all the carpet up. The guys doing my repair said there was a seam in there and that's why it was doing that and it was an easy fix. So it took forever for them to send someone out - who lied to me. Thank the Lord my water heater burst I guess. P.S I also had to argue with the people I called trying to get them to come out because apparently I can read a warranty but they don't know their own material. read more

We scheduled an appointment for an estimate. We were given a date and time for this appointment and made all proper arrangements to insure we would be available. We then received 3 texts and 2 phone calls from the company three days and two days before the appointment. On the day of the scheduled appointment, my timed window came and went and no one showed or called. I made a phone call to the office and the operator informed me that no one was assigned to come to my appointment. She explained that the appointment was indeed set, but there was no sales rep scheduled to come out. She placed me on hold to call the local office where she got no answer. Awesome service and great carpets! I was referred to Ms. Kathy Hacker by our realtor when I was looking for a house in Virginia Beach. She was very professional, very patient and helpful in getting what we want for our house. Mind you, we were at Texas when we were doing all the negotiations. Needless to say we got our carpet that we like and in our budget. The installers who came in are very professional and courteous. Got everything done in a day and cleaned up after themselves. I would have given them a 5 star, but during installation, they poked a hole in a closet door, I'm thinking the workers pushed the door all the way out that the door stopper pushed a hole in the door. One of the workers came by a few days later after I told Kathy what happened. The guy said he will come back to repair the door but never did. We had the carpet installed at the end of July, it is now November so I figured they are not coming back to repair it. That is why I waited to write my review. Overall, great job, carpet feels great, looks great. If it wasn't for the hole on my door, absolutely 5 stars worthy company. read more

I got carpet and hard floors installed in January. I have had nothing but issues with the carpet coming up at the seams and ripping when running a vacuum over it. Finally was scheduled to have someone come out today to repair all the damages after three weeks of calling and waiting for a date and working with mine and my husbands days off. It is ridiculous and if I could have them come rip this floor up and hire another company I honestly would. Also, they claim to be available on Saturdays but no one ever answers the phone. read more

We won't use this company again. I recommended this flooring company to my father in law because of the amazing work they had done replacing the floors in my mother's home. They were kind, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. The price was amazing, too! However, the service my mother received was completely different from the service my father in law received. The salesman was great! He was on time and polite. He explained everything well and was able to work with my father in law on the price. The workers showed up on time and completed the job quickly. However, one of the workers was on his phone talking the entire time, and because of that he did not put flooring in the closet as discussed with the salesman. They took the ceramic tile border out of the bathroom and didn't put any kind of trim in its place. They left it bare with gaps where the floor meets the wall. They also didn't put trim in the hallway. Instead, they measured out the trim for the hallway and handed it to my mother in law on their way out and told her that someone in the household could put the trim down in the hallway. They also did not clean after themselves. They left chunks of wood in the hallway, trash and cigarette butts in our driveway, and debris/materials in the front yard. Understandably, after my father in law saw the work that had been done, he was a little frustrated. He called the company back and told them the issues, and they sent another team of workers out to finish what the other team of workers had started. He didn't have to wait long, they had people out in just a few days. These workers were better. They laid the trim in the hallway and bathroom, but the trim in the bathroom doesn't look like it was installed properly. Instead of taking the time to sand off the old glue that held the tiles in the bathroom, they nailed the trim straight to the wall. Now the trim is gapped and pulling away from the wall. All in all, we definitely would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

Beware of doing business with Empire Today flooring company! I contracted to have 3 bathrooms, a laundry room, hall, office and bedroom floored with luxury vinyl tyle. I was told it would take approximately 4 days and work would begin on April 10th. When discussing the project with the salesman, we specifically discussed the transition pieces, which needed to be wood to look right. All was agreed upon and the work began. The actual transition pieces installed were a cheep metal brass looking items and there was no bullnose installed at the top of the carpeted stairs. I call the salesman and complained and was told he would call the office, but for me to also call customer service. Multiple phone calls later and many excuses with a 2-week delay, they came back to finish the job and installed the wood transitions; but still no bullnose on the stair. Again, multiple phone calls and another 2-week delay, they came and installed the wrong sized bullnose! There is a clear gap between the raggedly cut carpet and the bullnose which looks just terrible. Multiple phone calls later, I was scheduled to have the installation complete on May 19th, which was confirmed twice. After waiting most of the day, I start making phone calls, again, and was told the team was working in another city that day and could not make it to my house, maybe another day. So, here I am 7 weeks after the job was 'finished' and still don't have a completed project. In the meantime, I spent weeks scraping the dried grout off the tops of the tiles and fixing gouges and paint on the walls of the rooms the tile was laid in. All and all, I have been remodeling various houses for the past 30 years and have never had such a horrible experience or such shoddy work performed. I honestly do not think it is unreasonable to expect a satisfactory job when spending over 8 thousand dollars. Empire Today is a company that did shoddy incomplete work and don't seem to care one bit. I am currently looking for a reputable contractor who can finish this project for me. So let me finish as I began, beware of doing any business with Empire Today. read more

My husband and I wanted to update our carpet in our 3 bedrooms to help our house sell faster as we are moving soon. The salesman came out and measured and gave a price for the basic materials of 1700. We declined because we do not want to lose much in the sale of the house. They called back a couple days later and lowered the offer to 1150 and was told to call back if we changed our mind. We thought over it more and called back. They basically called us liars and said there was no documentation of the offer. If your staff forgot to document it, that is not my problem. If you cannot extend the offer, just simply say you cannot. Do not try to make my husband and I feel as though we are trying to trick you somehow. It is the truth, and if you record your calls you will see yourself. We did indeed get a call from a man named Carlos with a lower offer. Asked for a conformation and time, the only response was that they would call me the day of installation. This was for a condo complex that requires advance scheduling (this information was given to the salesman) . Zero stars. This company is terrible, unreliable and do a poor job when they do get around to it. It took us weeks to get them to come and redo our kitchen floor after a leak. They kept canceling or not showing or just not answering the phone. Finally on the threat of cancellation they decided to cut the price and ensure it gets done. Finally they came and got it done but the materials are cheap and the floor looks nothing like the rest of the house. I would have paid twice as much for faster, more responsive and better quality service. Don't bother using them ever. Empire Today shouldn't be able to operate. If you're thinking about using them, pls run...you'll do a better job doing the work yourself. Here's our email to the Senior Regional Customer Service Manager. As you know, we are not satisfied with the outcome of our current installation order. We originally contacted our sales Representative who is no longer employed with Empire who came out to our property on or about July 7, 2021 for installation of Floating Click Lock LVP Clock Galewood for our 1st and 2nd Stair casings. We were giving an installation date of 7.8.21 as a customer had canceled at last minute. On the day of installation we received no calls in the early AM, therefore I decided to intiate a call to verify the time of arrival but was unable to get in contact with someone at Empire. My husband than reached out to the Sales rep on 7.8.21 the day of installation who advised that the stair nose for our product was not in stock and needed to be ordered which could take up 2 to 3 weeks to receive. On or about 7.19.21 we were notified that the product had arrived and was given an installation date of 7.27.21. On 7.24.21, I received a message from a call rep requesting call back to confirm installation. Upon returning call to rep, the rep advised that she was confirming Installation for Thursday, July 29, 2021, although we were verbally told 7.27.21. However, I did not bother to stress the date variances as we just wanted to get our stairs installed. A few days prior to our scheduled installation 7.29.21, we contacted Empire on that Monday to see if we could add a change order to include our 1st floor area and bathroom with same product we used on our 1st installation done by Empire in April 2021. We were told that it would not be an issue and the order was added in addition to the stairs. The day of installation 7.29.21, I received an automated call around 8:45 am advising that the installers would be arriving but did not specify a time. At 9:15 am, my door bell sounded and it was a guy who advised he was with Empire and was sent to do the installation. I advised the guy to come to the back of my property of which would be the entry for them. When I went to my garage and opened it, I noticed only 2 installers and thought, I hope this job will be completed all today. The installer then began unloading a few of the materials and going over the work order before starting. Instantly when he pulled out a few samples of the flooring from the box, I replied that was not the product we ordered nor is the product we had installed on the 3rd floor by Empire this past April 2021. He proceeded to show me the work order that read Promenade. I then grabbed a box of the product we had remaining from the previous job and began comparing the differences by name of product and more importantly the specifications on the boxes. It was clear the products were different and did not match. I then proceeded to get in contact with Empire in hopes that it could be a simple fix and just a matter of the workers returning to the Warehouse to retrieve the right product as now it's clear that the reason the installation was delayed because the wrong product somehow was captured but not by the customers doings. After about 30 minutes of calling into Empire I finally spoke with a Floor Customer Supervisor who advises that I must contact Tracy Derago. I was furious, that as a customer must be subject to dialing a number instead of at least being provided the opportunity to be directly transferred. I called Tracy and left a message advising of the matter and urgency. I called back to back for up to 1.5 hours and finally Tracy returns the call and advises that she is no longer in California but in Arizona and provides me with extensions for Managers in Installation Claudia ext 3478 and Donna ext 3488. I left messages at the extensions provided and tried calling back for over 2.5 hours with no response. I call back to Empire at 877.588.5219 selecting customer service and speak with a rep who attempts to further research department heads for assistance. In the midst of the rep researching and explaining the discrepancy, I asked is it simply able to get resolved today she explains that it would not be possible for the installers to come back out as they have already moved on to the next job. I thought how is that possible when my job was going to consist of an all day job and when I examined the work truck I only saw my product . The customer rep then provides names for Sales Managers Chris, Alex and Jolina. I call back the 877.588.5219 at this point it's now roughly 12:15 pm and someone picks up in sales by the name of Chris. I advised why I was calling and the surrounding circumstances. Chris pulls up our original work order from March 2021 that was placed with the sales rep and begins researching. I wish I could leave less than one star. Yes. It's that bad. I want to ensure that everyone who is researching flooring options in this area sees this review. My husband and I purchased our home in 2017 and it was in need of living room flooring. We chose Empire because they seemed to have a good reputation at the time. We had laminate installed and we were happy with the product until about 2 years after installation when it began buckling. We contacted Empire and were giving a litany of excuses and transferred to many different departments. We ended up filing a complaint with the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation; however, in the end, they said there was nothing they could do since the warranty had expired and they suggested we take legal action. We had an inspector come out from Empire who was extremely irritable, loud, and acted as if we were wasting his time. He actually tried to blame our home's foundation for the buckling in the floors, even after we had someone else from another company tell us that it was definitely a faulty product that was causing the issue. Empire did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation; we are hiring a company that we have used for another home project to remedy the problem. Not only did they not show up, they didn't even call us to let us know. We rescheduled for this weekend (which was supposed to have been spent painting, patching, and putting in new trim) and once again they didn't show and once again they didn't talk.
