The only problem is you can't get a seat some times and have to walk to the other one 5 min away to see if that has a seat free! Henry's offers a great selection or hot and cold beverages and also has food which caters for most dietary needs. They carry a range of soya, gluten free, vegan etc. They are are also always willing to help cater for anything that's not listed. The majority of the staff are very welcoming (yes I'm a sucker for nice staff) and they also have free wifi which is always a bonus if you have an hour or so to kill. The coffees it's self are great tasting and when you ask for a large... you get a large and they also have a license for alchol, so if it's cold there happy to pop a cheeky wee tipple of whisky in there! There are two Henry's, theres one on the seagate with no outdoor seating and one, which is my favorite, at the main square which has outdoor seating. Right now there construction work however over the next months or so it will defo be my go to on a nice day in Dundee.... not that I need an excuse any more!

The service is fast and friendly. But, you come for the food. We enjoyed a Fudge doughnut and a Millionaire shortbread cookie along with a pot of tea. I am glad we split our order, because the short bread cookie was layered with caramel and milk chocolate and was so decadent. The fudge doughnut was the thing we came for and it was amazing. The doughnut was light and airy and filled with a sweet, but not too sweet, custard. They also serve lunch and other hot items, but today was dedicated to the sweets. There was a steady stream of people, so the locals all know about this place. It you are in town, you won't want to miss it.

The guy on reception said if we walked up the road we would find a café that did the works!! We looked a few times but it wasn't until on our last two days we found the Old Mill café, (turn left out of the Travel lodge front entrance and walk down the road until you see an arch entrance into a courtyard) What a find, small, clean, very friendly and what a great breakfast, they also offer other meals/drinks etc. If you are in Dundee this is a place to find for a great breakfast, just wish we had found it on our first day!!

The owner seems passionate about their food and I found out she has written a great food book which I went out and bought. I have also been to a couple of events that the Parlour has done the catering for and it's up to the same standard as the cafe. I wouldn't hesitate recommending a visit to the cafe or using their catering service. Only thing is that, because it's popular, lunchtimes can be very busy.

They have a selection of sandwiches and cakes and a full coffee offering. The cafe seating area was quite empty when I arrived at 9:30am but became busier as several small groups of 2-3 seniors and several solo students came. Plenty of seating was still available and because the area is so large and open it didn't become too loud.
