We were coming through town and needed a quick bite. We ended up coming to northpoint. While there was no parking around the cafe there was plenty of street parking just a couple blocks around the corner. We were greeted and sat right away. The waitress was very friendly and got our coffee order quickly while we looked over the food options. There wasn't a lot to chose from which can be nice so you don't feel overwhelmed. A perfect cozy spot for breakfast. It was bustling inside but we were served quickly. I had the lunch special with a sandwich and soup, while my husband had the full breakfast. All the servers were friendly, polite, and efficient. Their various hot chocolates with whipped cream and other toppings are a must. read more

A family run friendly local cafe that has a huge selection of breakfast, lunch and tea time choices, including takeaway (although you may have to wait outside in the cold). You may have to queue at busy times but it is well worth the wait. Everything is cooked to order so don't mid the slight wait but some portions are a little large (beware the 4 pancakes for brekkie unless you are really really hungry) - be careful, otherwise you will be taking way your lunch too. Tea there is an institution - a wonderful selection of home made cakes served in large slices together with big pots of tea. Yes, Kate and Wills met there for a date as it says on the shop front; you know why, because its a great place to eat and drink. One day they will serve pots of coffee instead of just pots of tea since one cup is never enough for addicts like me. read more

I wandered in here looking for a bathroom and had no idea it was where Kate and William used to go for coffee! They are very humble about it here, inside it looks like a regular coffee shop. The only way I knew was because of the banner on the window. I ordered a chocolate milkshake for about 4 pounds. It was good but a bit too milky for my taste. We eat here for breakfast the day following a wedding in the gardens. They did the best they could for about 18 of us in a very small dinning area. Everyone was happy with their meals. Several are Gluten free and we're well taken care of. My scrambled eggs were a tad on the runny side for me. But the sausage and bacon and pancakes were great. Parking is limited to the street, so find a lot and walk there. Good spot on the way to the castle or cathedral. read more

We got into St. Andrew's and were looking for a quick bite to eat. Our host recommended this place. Perfect. Fresh, homemade scones, smoked salmon wraps, sandwiches and daily special soup. All of them were fresh and large portioned. Surprisingly the bill came out to under 20 pounds. Great food that won't break the bank. A very small place with a lot of people. I ordered the Northpoint American Brunch, which consist of fried egg, two pancakes, and British bacon. Nothing too exciting and the taste was good. Love northpoint--this is their mocha. Cheapest coffee and avocado toast in town (£2.50!). Lovely atmosphere. Only comment is that the music can be quite weird and not match the vibez, for example summer club hits are often playing in a quiet coffee shot environment. If you need some simple homemade food that isn't fried, then this is the place to hit. The grilled vegg pannini's is the best thing since...errr...sliced bread, and their homemade soups, muffins and scones are gorgeous. They also make really nice lattes and some of the best chai I have ever had. Decor is simple, artsy and pleasantly colorful. This is a prefect spot to meet up with friends and have a nice afternoon. It can get busy on the weekends and it is small so I recommend you get here early. read more

North Point ("NP" is a lovely little spot! I am an American in St. Andrews visiting my little brother, who is a studying at the university, and NP has been my go to spot. The service is great, the staff is friendly and just always in a good and positive mood. It is always nice and warm and cozy in the cafe, and they provide good quality free wifi - which is crucial for a tourist! The food is also tasty, fresh and ready quickly. I've had the tea, vegetarian plate, the (quinoa?) soup of the day, the roll and butter and the carrot cake. All the food was well made, and the carrot cake was OMG so good!! Highly recommend NP for tourists in St. Andrews, but it seems the locals love the spot too. read more

Amazing pancakes and eggs. I love going to North Point for breakfast on the weekends. The menu has a good variety of savory and sweet, and the cafe gives of a friendly and small town vibe. Got lunch here and it was amazing. I had a sandwich with Brie, turkey and jam and it was amazing. So much delicious Brie, warmed, great bread, and added a cup of soup for only a pound! The North Point happy hour is infamous with St Andrews students - any large warm drink for only a pound in the late afternoon. Unfortunately it is usually very busy and can be quite crowded - but if you do find a place to sit, the breakfasts especially can be a great start to the day. It is also near the library and the scores, so is popular with students as well as tourists. It is busy and there it is often necessary to queue for a table, but it is always worth the wait. The breakfast deals are affordable and with the quick lunch available for under £5 it also makes an economical choice. North Point is one of my favorite cafes in St Andrews! I don't think I'm alone in this judgment though, because it is almost always crowded--especially difficult to find a seat during the mad lunch rush. If you manage to make it in at opening, or well after noon, you are more likely to find a seat. The staff is very friendly towards students--I've been allowed to sit with a pot of tea whilst reading or studying for hours at a time without any bother. All of the ladies who have served me have always been lovely, and sometimes they will even remember me and my usual order! Also, they have the best deal on hot drinks in town--only £1.60 for anything from a cappuccino to a hot chocolate (although, I am quite bitter that the price has risen by a whopping 10p since last year). They also recently started hosting pancake nights, keeping open after-hours to serve a menu consisting exclusively of pancakes! I have made a point to clear my schedule for these--the banana-toffee full-stack is worth dropping everything for. NP is certainly one of the places that I will miss the most when I graduate from Uni and move away from St A. read more

An extremely popular cafe with a good location near to the sea front. The menu is great and the food always good. I can recommend the 'button' hot chocolate with cream and melted cadbury's buttons! It is hard to find a table at times so get there early. Another problem is that when it is busy, it is hard to have a conversation because it gets pretty loud. Not a great atmosphere because it is basically a room with tables and chairs in it and minimal decor. It is worth going there for the food though and there is a happy hour with drinks for £1, always good for the poor student! read more
