I am glad we split our order, because the short bread cookie was layered with caramel and milk chocolate and was so decadent. The fudge doughnut was the thing we came for and it was amazing. The doughnut was light and airy and filled with a sweet, but not too sweet, custard. They also serve lunch and other hot items, but today was dedicated to the sweets. There was a steady stream of people, so the locals all know about this place. It you are in town, you won't want to miss it.

The guy on reception said if we walked up the road we would find a café that did the works!! We looked a few times but it wasn't until on our last two days we found the Old Mill café, (turn left out of the Travel lodge front entrance and walk down the road until you see an arch entrance into a courtyard) What a find, small, clean, very friendly and what a great breakfast, they also offer other meals/drinks etc. If you are in Dundee this is a place to find for a great breakfast, just wish we had found it on our first day!!

The owner seems passionate about their food and I found out she has written a great food book which I went out and bought. I have also been to a couple of events that the Parlour has done the catering for and it's up to the same standard as the cafe. I wouldn't hesitate recommending a visit to the cafe or using their catering service. Only thing is that, because it's popular, lunchtimes can be very busy.

They have a selection of sandwiches and cakes and a full coffee offering. The cafe seating area was quite empty when I arrived at 9:30am but became busier as several small groups of 2-3 seniors and several solo students came. Plenty of seating was still available and because the area is so large and open it didn't become too loud.

Probably among some of the worst food I've ever eaten…read more My friends and I went here for brunch and were faced with some highly inedible substances :/ The beverages are ok, usually, but the food always falls short. I've noticed a sharp decline in quality over the past 3 - 6 months, where their chilli recipe which used to be amazing, is now akin to something out a tin. Bleuuurgh. I've also been "lucky" enough to sample soggy rolls, cheese that smelt so disgusting I couldnt eat it, and a burger so burnt I couldnt tell what it was supposed to be. The staff seem incapable of handling customer complaints, preferring to talk amongst themselves and ignore direct requests for assistance when things go bad (which they have been for a while) rather than sort out what could have been a minor complaint. I was ignored for 20 minutes, even when they cleared my still full plates from the table, they still refused to look me in the eye and acknowledge something was up. I had to stand at the bar a further 10, where I STILL wasnt asked if everything was ok with my meal, and by that point I was furious. People skills a serious all time low. This place has so much potential. It would be a shame to carry on in its bad ways. Man up Tonic! Get yer finger out and give us some proper quality food.
