The pizza spots in Stillwater finally have some real competition! This location opened up a few months ago. I waited a while in hopes of them working out new restaurant challenges. I'd heard mixed reviews of this place, but decided I would try it out myself. I'm glad I did. I showed up 20 minutes before closing, and the one staffer working in the front of the house was kind and still gave great customer service. The interior of the restaurant was pretty cool, eclectic, hip - all that jazz. It's a very open space and great for large groups. I heard mixed reviews about the food, but the two slices I got, Fat Tony and Doug E. Fresh, were absolutely delicious. I love red pepper and Parmesan cheese, but pizza made right doesn't need it. The slices did not need it. I need to not be up there every day and end up on My 600 Pound Life, but I'll definitely stop in occasionally. read more

We ordered pizza for pick up. My family was very happy with their choices of the Notorious P.I.G and No Sleep Till Brooklynn. I, sadly, was unable to try anything as they ran out of vegan cheese. Awesome pizza, cool interior, great prices and friendly service! Drove up to see an outdoor space with a metal airstream type trailer in the corner- I knew I was in for something fun. Walking up they had a large covered patio with outdoor seating but temps kept us inside. Open, industrial style dining room that had views of the bar and kitchen. Neither were very noisy or distracted our dining. Menus are digital but they do give lists of daily pizza specials. I ordered the Fat Tony and it was very good pizza! Ricotta, sausage, onions- a tasty trio! The slices are very large and plenty for lunch. I prefer my pizza to be cooked just a tad bit longer than what is offered, but it was still delicious. I paired it with a starter of spinach artichoke dip. I would have preferred pita chips but the crostini paired well- maybe just need a few more slices. The dip was $13, pizza slice $4.50. They also offer salad, slice, and drink for $12. The staff were all very friendly! The pizza is great albeit expensive and I love the different ones each day. The lunch menu is also a great idea. The service is hit and miss. Sometimes it's friendly people, other times it's kids that have no idea what they're doing. But holy cow, is it so slow. So. Very. Slow. I'm talking about waiting for a slice to be heated up or for a full pizza to be made from scratch. Both have taken way longer than expected, and I've often found myself checking the time, wondering if they've forgotten my order. If you order a single slice or two, you usually have time to walk over to Stonecloud, stand in line, drink a beer, talk with friends, and then mosey back on to empire just to find out it's still not ready yet. A group of four of us ordered a pizza and we waited an hour and ten minutes. The kid at the front counter said "ok, it's not ready yet." I understand good pizza takes time, but when I'm in the mood for a quick bite or to grab dinner without too much of a wait, it can be frustrating. If you're in a hurry or especially hungry this might not be your best bet. read more

Came in here with 3 other friends. We each had one drink at Stonecloud over the past TWO hours, and decided we were hungry and wanted a margarita pizza. Now, we are a talkative and joking group. We walk in, unsure of how their setup is, and tell them that we are going to dine in and would like a margarita pizza. There was one occupied table. The male server sits us down and asks us what we want to drink. One of us says a white wine and another says Sauvignon Blanc. The server then extremely passive aggressively goes "I have a good senses. I heard you guys coming up and you stink of alcohol." Now, there is not any way we smell of that--none of us were anywhere near drunk. This was the first time our group was able to hang out in over a month. So I'm SO SORRY we were louder than he wanted PRIOR to sitting down. Like I said, we were not anywhere near drunk. We each had one drink at Stonecloud over the course of TWO HOURS prior to coming to Empire. We then only ordered waters, waited for our friend to return from the bathroom, and promptly headed out. This was atrocious service and extremely pointed, saying we were something we absolutely were not. Do not take your service here. read more

We waited a few weeks to try the new pizza place in town. First thoughts when we walked in - Stillwater really needs a few places like this, with both indoor and outdoor seating it's a great space for families or friends to gather for a few drinks and casual bite. The music was way too loud but they did turn it down a notch when asked. We started with the spinach artichoke dip which at $13, definitely missed the mark, served barely warm it really lacked flavor and while the menu says served with Lavash crackers, it came with Carr's water crackers. Skip it . I love that they sell slices as everyone always wants something different. Slices are reasonably priced at 4.50, there are daily menu options for slices. Daughter had plain cheese, the man had the Fat Tony and I tried the pepperoni. All three were adequate but nothing noteworthy about any of them. Really liked the thin and crispy crust, but it needs more sauce. The Fat Tony (pictured) has Italian sausage, ricotta and onion, definitely needs more sausage, barely 2 pieces on the slice. The 3 of us split the half house salad which was enough for a small side for each of us, nicely chilled, greens fresh and crisp and tasty house made dressings. Nice selection of beers, Blackbox wine - had the Rose. The service from manager to server to food runners was fast, friendly and courteous. Bottom line would we dine-in again? Probably not, would we grab a few slices to eat while enjoying a beer at Stonecloud, definitely! read more

Was able to visit Empire for its grand opening day! I will say the service was great, but I went at a slow time (3pm). I did feel a little rushed as it was close to shift change you could tell our waitress wanted to get outta dodge. Pizza is a solid 5.5/10. The pizzas need to be cooked more! The flop is tremeeeendously bad, and flavor is so/so. If ya go, order it well done! The building itself is amazing though! I think if they work out some kinks this place would be a 5/5. I love the original Empire slice house in the Plaza , and I'm so happy to have one right here and Stillwater where I live. The food is wonderful and the service is first-rate. The location couldn't be better in our original downtown. It's right next-door to Stonecloud, so I can grab a slice and a salad and walk next-door for a Stonecloud hang out with friends. Or we can eat at Empire inside or outside. It's a terrific addition to the Stillwater community. The atmosphere is family-friendly, and fun. read more

If I could add a negative star I would. I ordered in restaurant for a to go pizza. Told the girl i would sit outside and wait. She said they txt you. So I'm out at a table under the roof. No server ever came out while i waited about 15 min into my "20" min wait then the same girl came out. Said I could not sit at the tables. Those were for ppl eating. I said i am waiting for my order. Honestly i was hoping for a server to come by i would have ordered a drink. But the girl who did not speak the best English told me i could go sit in the grass. Thats when i was insulted. Im a 64 year old woman with a handicap and shes telling me to go down a flight of stairs and sit in the grass. Because i was not eating at the table. Now keep in mind there was three tables that were dirty. They could have been cleared off and people could've sat there but instead they come to a 64-year-old woman setting waiting for a pizza and tell me to go sit down in the grass. I was upset , but I said I'll speak to your manager so I went in. I want my money back. The lady wouldn't give it to me. She got the manager. The manager was arguing with me telling me how rude I was and how wrong I was and I said well maybe I did misunderstand her because she's ethnic and she doesn't speak good English, that's when the manager starts saying and loud voice so everyone can hear her that I'm prejudiced. I told her I'm not prejudiced saying someone doesn't speak good English and you may not have understood them doesn't mean you're making fun of them. She made it clear to everybody within her loudmouth That she was pointing out I was prejudiced of this little girl that couldn't speak very good English. I told her i am not prejudiced because I am ethnic Now I am mad.She stood there with the drawer open and wouldn't give me my money and proceeded to tell me that if I had a better person, she would've give me my money back and gave me a drink and gave me a pizza for free, I said I'm not poor. I don't need your free pizza. I needed to sit down under the cover where it was cool and wait for my pizza that I paid for. I'm paying customer. Should I be allowed to set a table and wait for my pizza, especially because I sat there hoping someone would come by and I could order a drink, she asked me to leave the store over and over but would not give me my money. Finally she got in a drawer. she handed me my money and hollered get out. I said I want your managers name you're not the owner I said I want her name and number and she said look it up on the website she'll be on my side anyway so there you go NEW pizza place with a rude ignorant person as the manager. and if I had been thinking, I would've said well you just discriminated against a handicap woman that needed to sit down. We came here, wanted to sit outside, told they wanted to spread out the servers more so we were denied, fine. took us a solid 15mins to get our draft beers served, really? meatballs were good! took 2 pizzas to go. at home we found BOTH pizzas were terribly undercooked, it was inedible. we called and were told if we brought them back to the store they'd cook them more for us...wow... we spoke to a girl who told us the manager was busy and he would call us back, he never called so we called again later and we were told he was unavailable and would get back to us to hear our concerns, he never called. We ended up reheating the pizza one slice at a time in our oven because of the size of the pizzas. The next day we wrote a review and we're given a $25 gift card for both of our pizzas which was closer to $50...fail. we decided to give them another chance a few weeks later, writing it off as first time opening and new staff. We were told our pizza would be ready at 6:30, we arrived 10 minutes after that and we were told it was not done and that they would check on the pizza in another 10 minutes. this is the most grossly flagrant service failure I've ever experienced, will never eat here again. read more
