Visited on: February 7 2013 This bar on the Strip has a historical claim to fame: its stage was where Garth Brooks gave his debut performance (which was reported to have been poorly-received), and you can still see the stage there. Other than that, there's nothing special about this bar. It's a smoking bar, it's old-looking, it's dark and dirty inside, and it looks like it's falling apart, and in dire need of renovation.

Oh my God. Everyone knows the Tumbleweed or "The Weed" as people call it. Heck, my parents used to go here when they were in college. Apparently it was bumpin' back then. Not so much now. Even though my experience happened like... four years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. A big group of girls from floor 3 of Village C (the journalism floor) headed on out here to go club. I think all of us had, well, never been clubbing before and well, what were we expecting in the middle of nowheresville Oklahoma? My then-friend, a Chicago girl by the name of Carolyn S. came with me and we were horrified when we walked in after giving the bouncer $7 each, to get in. We walked inside to see the bouncers carrying a girl, like a baby, out of the club. I don't know if she had been on E or was just that ridiculously drunk. I can still see her head flopped back in my mind. Scary. Well, now that that was over, we walked into a completely smoke filled room - picture the bar from the movie My Cousin Vinny and this is what it looked like. Smoke so thick you could cut it with a knife and pool tables everywhere. Ugh. The dance floor was teeny tiny, filled with only girls and I was not having it when some girl on my floor trying to dance up on me. I don't swing that way. I don't think there were even 5 guys sitting around the dance floor with country playing. It was really the last straw for me. After 7 minutes in that hell hole, I called up a guy who lived on my floor back at the dorms and demanded he come save Carolyn and me. Within 10 minutes of my call, I was sitting in the middle seat of his truck, with all the windows down, with him complaining how we smelled like ashtrays. NEVER AGAIN!

My family went here…read morefor dinner on New Years Eve - we thought we'd encounter a huge wait like we have in the past, but surprisingly they were able to sit us right away. I do recommend checking the waitlist they have on their website if you plan to dine here - it just gives you a good idea of how long the wait will be and you can also add your party to the waitlist before you arrive so you aren't just standing around waiting for 30 minutes to an hour, this location gets pretty packed some nights. The restaurant itself is pretty big, it's been the same for as long as I can remember and I like that about it. It isn't super trendy or chic, it's got the wooden floors and pool tables and it just reminds me of Oklahoma if that makes sense at all. Our server was super nice, he was on top of everything and had a great attitude. I ordered the frito chili pie - mostly for the fact that I live in Florida now and I don't know of anywhere else that I can order that, it's a nostalgic thing for me for sure. I also had a side cesar salad - no complaints there either. The food has always been good for every time I've visited here. You have to check out the gift shop as well while you're here - you can't go to Eskimo Joe's and not bring home a cup, or shirt, or sweater, or koosie showing the world that you've been there lol The gift shop really is one of our favorite parts about eating here. Our kitchen cabinet has stacks of these Eskimo Joe's cups (which is great for a house with kids) and every member of the family has an Eskimo Joe's shirt...we love it here and will definitely be back.
