I have been coming to this nail salon since they opened. It started out great as it was convenient for me. Open later than most nail salons and close by. They are always clean and serve wine with services. I signed up for the membership when I first came to establish this as my nail home. When you spend a certain amount you get points which turn into dollars that you can use off of your services. Now.. My last two visits have been quite terrible and I will no longer be visiting this salon. When you're in this field of work you kind of have to keep up with the trends or at least try to.. anyway my last visit was in March and it was right before catching a flight out of town and I was only getting a pedicure and a fill in and they kept saying it won't be long. So I waited. I got my fill in and it was fine. Then my pedicure. Y'all it was sooo bad. And I'm sure she knew it looked terrible because she kept taking the polish off and trying to redo it. But was only making it worse. 30-45 min pedi turned into almost two hours. I missed an another appt and when I tried to get a manager they had left already and when I fully looked at my toes.... this face happened . Then she left before I could even tell her that this was still unacceptable. So I was left with having pay to 70.00 for nails I hated. Had to go home and take it off. (And they wouldn't let me use my points for money off.) Today I came for a full set and pedi. Hoping they would redeem themselves. Though my nails are decent. They still wouldn't let me use my points. When last time they said my next visit I could. Soooooo ha. Jokes on me. 100.00 for nails and honestly could've went somewhere else for better quality. So I'll just take my money else where. Even when I brought this up they just looked at me. . At this point it's not worth another visit to try and redeem those points. read more

DO NOT EVER COME TO THIS SPOT ON NINE MILE. I went to get a mani and pedi done about a week ago. Pedi was fine but the next day my manicure was terrible paint was messing up and I went back to get this FIXED 3 times within a week. Today I came in just to take my paint off because once again my mani was messed up. The worker insisted to just get me another service at no charge which i eventually gave in. Ended up getting a new color, but when he started to shape my real nails his nail was digging into my skin which started to hurt, he was also filling my nails that was already at the skin, HE CUT ME WITH THE FILL cause he was going too deep to just get a shape. He was try to snatch my hand back saying " I fix it for you" I said no you can not fix a cut and if you try to whatever you are using is not healthy. read more

I went right when Empire opened on Sunday. At first, I wanted my old acrylic set removed. The guy took his time soaking off the set as well as being very gentle which made me comfortable with his work. My natural nails were extremely long and none of them were broken so I would say he did great! Since I felt confident in his work, I asked for a full set of a natural ombré look. I loved how honest he was and that he referred me to his coworker Leo. The set came out beautiful and I will gladly come back to this friendly and well sanitized environment. I want to start by saying this will be a rough review as I am still extremely upset with the experience I had. I have been coming here for years since they opened and had a completely different staff i live in south side at the time and simply loved the service i got at Empire and made the trip every two weeks to get my nails done !!!! For the past year I have only coming to get my toes painted and eye brows for my own personal reasons but prior to I would religiously book with LEO AND LEO ONLY for my nails! Today was my first time coming in since about march! I was absolutely disgusted by how me and my 5 year old were MADE to feel I have paid LEO or whomever behind these CASHAPPS generously since they started that mess in 2020 and I would think my continued business never mind us being human would permit us to be treated a tad bit better than that! My 5 year old is non verbal and loves being able to move freely regardless of spectrum status baby boy is a ball of energy so as I know this about him and how he tends to get carried away I decided to respect myself and Empire, customers, employees as well as property and keep him very close to me!! I was only getting my toes painted I wasn't too worried being as though I know how to handle him regardless of the behavior he chooses to display but to have a grown man and later LEO treat us as if we were an inconvenience, embarrassment and later try to hand me all my property as I'm trying to get my child and self together up and out as we are also ready to go!! Why do I need you to pick up my shoes off the FLOOR where shoes belong to hand them to me as if to rush me all while blurting out my service total which had already been communicated to me! After which I remained calm and asked him to either hand me or drop my property! He just glares at me as I get up to head towards Leo and the front being as though the service itself and little comments had already been made and I had already insisted all I needed was for them to do the service and allow me to handle my child whom at no point touched, hurt assaulted anyone other than me bc yet again he knows we he is being kept from something and it only sparks curiosity but as stated before that was still the best decision! I requested that Leo no longer allow this man to interact with me bc now I'm offended and I will never allow anyone let alone a non verbal 5 year old who was communicating the best way he knew how to feel less than as long as I'm around! Not that it's necessary but my child although non verbal has a wide range of understanding but it's not my job to educate people dealing with the public on how there are different type of people all over and we don't treat them less than bc we don't understand them!!!! Not to mention I was and have been for a years a paying customer I didn't drop my child off at daycare I hadn't made him anyone else's business but my own and for them to make me feel like i shouldn't have even came out the house today with my child bc he's prone to loud dramatic outburst is AGAIN DISGUSTING!!! I will end this but looking at all I wrote and knowing that there was so much more that occurred is so disturbing I've never felt so compelled to speak on any wrong doing. In 5 years no one has ever made me feel like that I have never and will be embarrassed or refrain from 'normal' activities in fear of my child or myself being looked at or treated unfairly I will simply handle them the best way possible! I've worked with Leo for years and understand that he isn't confrontational but me and JO deserved way better and I think that's what made me so emotional! I've never left from getting my toes and brows done in NON STOP TEARS!! To whomever is on the other end god bless! For myself this place was terrible. My stylist was super heavy handed, hurt my fingers, was to busy watching some "live" video online. My nails turned out terrible all the polish pooled to one side leaving huge bubbles. Then I had to go another person to fix it. He seemed annoyed and pushy. Then once he finished just kept saying" you can pay Cash App". And was just annoyingly pushy until the payment went through. I have been to this establishment about three times now. My first two experiences were great but my last experience was beyond horrible. I made an appointment with Julie but she was not present when I arrived. I was greeted and sent to a pedicure chair, where I waited about 25 minutes until someone came to assist me. The lady who did my pedicure was really friendly and did an amazing job. Most of the people who came in after me were waiting for her to do their pedicures as well. So that's a good sign. However when I got my SNS dip powder manicure it was the most horrible experience that I have had. I have been getting dip powder for about five years now so I know what to expect. The guy who did my manicure had me soak off the powder and once it was all soaked off he immediately dipped my nails into the colored powder. When I asked him why he didn't dip it into the white powder first he stated that I still had some on my nails that didn't soak off. Sounded crazy but I have had other manicurist do that method before. I asked for a coffin shaped nail and I had to instruct the manicurist to go back and make both sides of the nail even (which still didn't help). The colored powder that they used on my nails was old and the color separated once completed. I had purple powder with white spots where the color did not adhere. I told the manicurist that my nails did not look okay and he called the manager over. The manager examined each nail and stated, "What am I looking at?" They offered to have me come back two days later between 3p and 4p to get it redone. Here I am a week later and most of my nails have broken off. read more

I came to Richmond to visit family and in desperate need of a pedicure. I asked the young lady working at Dunkin' Donuts about a good nail salon nearby & she recommended Empire. I was only going to get a gel polish pedicure but my fingernails needed massive help as well so I also got a gel full set. Lee did both of my services & he did a really good job. My pedicure was great with a nice massage. Getting a full set at a new place is always a little frightening but Lee was exceptional. He didn't grind my nails down to the point of pain & took his time getting every nail even and symmetrical. Looking at the finished product, a few nails are thicker than most but that's not a big deal to me. The atmosphere in the salon is nice. Yes they offer wine and mimosas but I had coffee and it was 1030a. (No judgement. I day drink sometimes too)Sometimes the music (today was all Beyoncé) was be too loud but eventually an employee turned it down some when that happened. I watched as an employee cleaned a pedicure station and was happy that even though they used liners in the basins they still cleaned it after removing the liner. Overall the salon was very clean and dust-free. My major problem with a lot of salons is the odor but I was very happy that there WAS NOT an odor today. Hopefully it's their great ventilation system and not the fact that there were only maybe 10 customers in there throughout the time that I was there. They are probably more expensive than other places in the area but you get what you pay for. I don't live in VA so the prices were reasonable to me. Overall I would recommend this salon. read more

I went to this establishment as it was near the Wal-Mart that I was near. I opened the door and asked a worker.. " how much for a PLAIN REGULAR PEDICURE ". I believed she said " $37.00. With inflation I thought that was ok. After 12 minutes of her trying to upset 21 different add on services, I finally caved in an got gel polish on my toes. She then stopped mid service to do someone's eyebrows. Upon returning to me I had to REMIND CHAU that she didn't push my cuticles back or put the callous solution on one of my feet. The entire pedicure experience was rushed and not enjoyable at all. She did a horrible job. She left too much oil on my feet and left me at the station to almost slip on a wet floor. Once I regained my balance and got my shoes on, I met her at the register to pay. At the check out process, I was also shocked that I'd be charged an additional charge for paying with a debit card. The pedicure is subpar at most. I will not be returning as this establishment clearly does not care about customer satisfaction. This place needs a good cleaning and I think I'll give the state board and department of health a call to give them a visit. read more

While they do good work, I repeat, THEY DO GOOD WORK, but, this incident that occurred with me and this business (TODAY 3/10/21) just ain't sitting well with me: I left this shop today feeling robbed. I have been here several times before, and had basically the same thing done every time, a mani/pedi and my eye browns cleaned up, I generally pay $57 total, plus I leave a tip...today I paid $88. The only difference was, I had my nails polished today(usually I leave them clear). The tech tells me that it was $30 for polishing....there was nothing special about the polish; no gel, no crack, or fluorescent, nothing. I was thrown all the way off! It seems like when I didn't purchase something more expensive, I was rushed through the rest of my experience and still charged what I know I can get for cheaper at other places in the city. But unfortunately, I noticed that some of them cannot speak English and I had a hard time communicating with the lady who was doing my nails. Definitely not planning to return. I came here on a Wednesday evening with my boyfriend. He was getting a pedicure and I needed a full set. My boyfriend was taken to the pedicure station and offered wine. I was instructed to sit at a spot near the front and asked what I wanted. I said I was getting a full set dip manicure and was given the selection of polishes to choose. My boyfriend got his wine and the pedicurist began his service (which I'm told by him went very well). I waited several minutes while my manicurist (who I believe is the owner/manager) walked around taking care of other duties. When he returned, I showed him the white dip powder that I wanted. He began but took frequent breaks to do other things in the shop. About 10 minutes into my service, I asked if wine was included for free since I hadn't been offered any. He said that it was. I told him the one I wanted and he got up to get it, clearly annoyed. My service continued in this way, as though I was an inconvenience to him. For the "dip powder," my manicurist just dipped by fingers in the standard white powder that was on the workstation and that I'm pretty sure is used for everyone's basic acrylic. That probably isn't sanitary and it certainly isn't what I'm used to with dip powder, but it doesn't matter since I don't plan to return. read more

They have horrible customer service and are unsanitary! Their nail stations are dirty and the nail techs do not know what they are doing. I explained to them that their products were causing me to have an itching and burning sensation under my nails and they told me it was my fault. Mind you, there was a woman beside me getting an acrylic set just like me and she complained to the man about her fingers burning as well so clearly this isn't an unusual issue. They offered to soak my nails off for me but I explained to them that if their products are what caused the reaction, why would I use them again? I simply asked for a partial refund since I was clearly unsatisfied with the "service" given, and the person who claimed to be manager refused. Now that I have been to this place a few times. I now feel like I can give an accurate review. First time I went, I was impressed by the way the salon was set up. It was a nice touch to offer a glass of wine or a mimosa. Second time service started to slip. Third time I had a woman that did not understand a thing I said. I needed the polish soaked off my nails while I was having a pedicure done. I asked three times if someone could come over the start the soaking process being that it takes about 45 minutes. Well, it did not happen! When this woman was done with my toes, I knew that I would now have to wait another 45 minutes to begin the process of getting my nails done. I left the salon and will not return! I say, "If they don't understand English, then I should not spend my money there."
