I've had Mimi do my nails, toes and waxing for the past 5 years. We moved 40 miles away 2 years ago. after trying several shops close to our new home, I started driving into WS to go to Mimi. I have NEVER been disappointed. she is so sweet and so talented. My nails look so natural and never break. She's AMAZING!! I tell all my friends about her Mimi Magic!! Highly recommend The shop also. Very clean and very friendly.

Just moved back to Winston and was looking for a good nail place read the reviews and decided to go here and I loved it! Got sat right away, and the nail tech was great! Not sure how they have such high ratings. My sister booked us collagen manicures weeks in advance so you would think we would have atleast gotten that. We checked in upfront and did not wait that long, which is probably the only positive experience from our visit. The guy doing my nails sat me at his chair and asked if it was a manicure, which i responded with "a collagen manicure with all the extras". No conversation at all, and ignored everything i said which cool maybe conversation isnt your thing, but when i ask when we do the wax and the hot stones, maybe answer? While he was filing my nails down a different employee screamed at the little girl behind the register telling her to leave and she doesnt want to see her for the rest of the day, infront of the whole salon, resulting in the little girl crying behind the register. Real nice. Once he started painting my nails i reminded him AGAIN we got the collagen manicures and he once again ignored me. After painting my nails, missing half of the nail on 3 nails, he put lotion on my hands and said "youre done". Are you kidding? Three times i told him we made appointments for collagen manicures. There was no miscommunication as it came up when we checked in upfront. It was almost comical how little he cared and how little effort he put in. Absolutely will not go back, and would NOT recommend trying it out.

Came here on a whim before work one day and I was pleasantly surprised by the service and prices! The nail salons I've been to prior here in Winston were very expensive and unfortunately ruined the quality of my nails as I didn't realize they were drilling them too far down when taking off the gel manicures. They took the extra time to take care of my nails for me, added nail strengthener, were extra gentle with the nails that were damaged, and recommended I wait for more healthy growth before putting more paint down. Once my nails are ready I will be going back! The wait on a weekday evening was about 30-45 minutes, I will definitely be making an appointment next time! read more

Came here while waiting for my brother to get off work so we could eat dinner. This place is clean with great decor, lots of color options and plenty of people working. I only wish they had more OPI options but they did have a decent amount. I came here in the days leading up to Thanksgiving and they were packed to the brim with regulars and walk-ins. The wait for me as a walk-in was about 45 minutes but well worth it. I got a gel manicure only. Lynn, the technicians, was very detail-oriented and did a wonderful job on the manicure. Which never chipped even after a month of not being able to get another mani. It just continued to grown out. I was thoroughly impressed. The service did not take long and was performed with a smile. I will certainly return when I am in the area and highly recommend them. read more

I love this place . Jesse does really good pedicures ! Angelo and Nicki are the bomb.com when it comes to the nails . My wife and I moved to the Winston Salem area 2 years ago. During that time we have tried multiple nail salons and been terribly disappointed until we found Emperor Nails and Spa. (Yes I get my nails done, deal with it.) Firstly, you will not forget Emperor's decor. It is light, airy, open and well lighted. While the chairs may be considered "over the top", we found them to be "regal". Secondly, the prices are very reasonable. Thirdly, the quality of the service is superb. All other nail salons seemed to rush you through, while Emperor does an efficient and professional job. Lastly, the staff listen and did exactly what my wife and I asked. I made an appointment with Moon based off of the reviews I had read and let me tell you, she did not disappoint. I can be shy and typically don't talk much during services, just preferring to watch and relax. Moon made me feel so welcome and was so sweet. She made conversation with me but also gave the space to just enjoy the experience which I appreciated. I got the signature pedicure with gel polish and an SNS manicure with a design. (Both included a heavenly massage.) Her attention to detail was incredible, she also checked in with me multiple times to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted, which I did. Also the prices in my opinion are great for how in-depth each service is. I paid about $150 and that was including a $25 tip! Looking forward to my next appointment with Moon! read more

I just moved to Winston about three months ago & I decided to finally get my nails done before Halloween. I came in & asked for a gel acrylic full set. The woman doing my nails cut the acrylics to the length I wanted but never asked me if I wanted a shape which I thought was a little strange; I had been getting acrylics for about 3 years now & every place I've gone to usually asks. I asked her for a coffin shape before she moved onto the next step. When she cut them they looked really wonky but I decided to trust the process. She proceeded to put the acrylic powder & filed my nails. She was filing super rough & I could tell that some sides she was filing straight & some super slanted. I kept on telling myself "trust the process, trust the process". They looked absolutely terrible. When she started working on my cuticles is when I lost it. She kept drilling super close to my skin & kept pushing the skin on the fingers back over & over again & was hurting me so bad. Finally I had enough & I told her I was really unhappy with my nails, at this point I really just wanted them off & I had already accepted the fact I may not have nice nails for Halloween. However, she went into the back & brought out Cindy. Cindy looked at my nails & told mw she could fix them. I was really upset but I decided to trust her & it was the best decision I made. Cindy was super sweet, fixed my nails & made them look so beautiful. When she was fixing my nails she even joked "I can tell why you're not happy, these are ugly" which reassured me that my negative feelings were valid. She told me that the woman taking care of me prior didn't know how to do shapes which does confuse me as to why she's even doing acrylics but I decided to not question it. I definitely would go back but only with Cindy, I'm sure the rest of the staff is great but I usually hate getting my nails done because of how long it takes & after being in a salon for 2 hours & a half I rather not take the risk of that happening again. read more

This place is great! I am super picky about my nail length and shape because of my job. I had dip with a tip added and the length and shape the tech did was exactly what I asked for! Sometimes I get push back when I want the tip trimmed as short as possible and this guy made my nails just how I wanted them without and issues! It's been two weeks since I went and my nails are holding up great. The salon is clean and inviting. I didn't have an appointment but someone helped me right away. Was looking for a nail place in the area and SO glad I found Emperor. Cindy did my nails and I believe she is the owner as well. SO kind during the appointment and so skilled. I got dip and it was affordable and beautifully done, it barely took her 45 min. I didn't want to get tips out on but she was able to even make my short nails look good and shape them beautifully. The guy couldn't speak or understand English. I kept asking for something and he just kept on going. They seemed to be laughing at their customers. He didn't cut my toe nails evenly. It did appear clean. It just reopened under this name recently. The other owner seemed much nicer and more professional. I won't be back. read more

But I think prices need to be posted somewhere. Especially online when it's someone's first time and they are deciding where to go. The manicure from Tina on the top view looks pretty good, but underneath the glue was excessive. Maybe that's normal after Gel C manicure? I don't know it was my first time but I brought it to the nail techs attention and she picked away at it a little bit a lot was left. It seemed she was rushing herself because she had another client waiting. You can see it in the pictures it feels super annoying. Can't say that I'll be back.

I tried everything I could to resolve the issue, because I prefer to leave positive or helpful words when I can here. But bad service is bad service. When I come here, I go in and allow whoever is free to do my nails because I usually have a great experience regardless. But twice now, I have been given to someone who isn't ready to be doing nails. The first time I was serviced, months ago, all of my nails hurt SO badly for 3-4 days. He drilled over my skin continuously. But when I went in yesterday, I decided to give him a second shot. I regret that so much. All of my fingers were cut and bleeding. I told him he was hurting me and he said it's just hot. And kept on drilling. I started to dissociate at that point. They hurt so bad. The acrylic set (brand new) that he applied was so badly done. I thought I might be over reacting so I asked some others and they all agreed that the nails were absolutely terrible and I should go get them fixed. I'm not one for confrontation, but they hurt so bad and we're too thick to use for anything. As you can see in photos. I am always patient and forgiving and leave good tips, so I expected the shop to hear my complaint and help me out. They said on the phone when my friend called for me, that they'd make it right if I came in in person to discuss it. So I did. I drove the 28 minutes to get there, they said they were too busy to help me, and said they'd issue a full refund but they had to call the card merchant first. I said ok, left my info, and went on. They did not offer to fix, replace, or give me any tips for healing my nails and skin. They called me later to tell me that their boss told them not to refund me, that they'd give me half off, and tried to convince me that I had an acrylic allergy and wasn't cut. They said "we are poor so no refund." And "it happens so oh well" I get it. Business is hard. But as a loyal long time customer, I just wanted to be treated kindly. When I went to another stylist in a different shop she was appalled at the state of my nails and skin. She kept apologizing that this happened to me, and noted how badly cut my skin was over and over. She could not fix the nails they were so badly done, had to remove them all, before she could treat the skin underneath and apply a new set. I am so so exhausted after all of this. I wish I had better things to say. I tried to resolve via email first and never got a response. If you go here, make an apt with one of the experienced stylists. Or you know, just don't.
