Solid empanada! Came here right when they opened at 11 am, so was first in line and can't comment on wait times. I opted to get a tampa girl empanada, as it seemed like something different than the norm. The empanada was solid-- it came out piping hot and I really enjoyed the flavors. It's definitely unique and a fun play on a cubano in empanada form. One is a substantial snack, if you wanted a meal I'd suggest 2-3 depending on how hungry you are. My sister also ordered the fries from there which were pretty solid as well! Overall, a good spot to hit up at Armature Works and I'd definitely go back. read more

This is a review for future Christina, get the fries from here because the kids like it. I know most people go to Empamamas for the empanadas. That's what my sister did. She got an empanada and said that it was pretty good. However, I waited in line just to get fries. This place opens at 11 AM so we walked up at 10:57 and waited for them to open. Once they opened, they gave us buzzers which I thought was interesting since other places now text. It did mean that I ended up just staying close by because I wasn't sure how far the range was. I do appreciate though that they do give you buzzers in case you want to go put in an order at another place. One order of fries is enough for both children, and they both liked it! My children don't like all fries, so this is useful to know that they will eat the fries here. The fries seem to be made fresh, so I did wait a little bit for it. I think this is a great stall at Armature Works. read more

Stopped by Armature Works while walking the Riverwalk and we grabbed something quick from Empamamas. They had four options..two beef, one pork, one chicken. It's $6 for one or 4 for $22, so my husband and I split a box and tried both beef options. These were better than expected. I thought they'd be good, but they surprised me. We got the Fresh Prince and the Cheeseburger in Paradise. Both were really good, but the Fresh Prince was my favorite. It tasted like a beef cheesesteak.. My husbands favorite was the cheeseburger one, which taste like it sounds. They were filling, service was quick, and the location is perfect since you can go walk some of the calories off read more

This was our first time trying empanadas and we really liked them!! We did the 'build your own 4-pack' for $25. A great way to try a variety of their flavors. Our favorites were the Cheeseburger in Paradise (cheesy burger flavor) and the Tampa Girl (yummy, quality ham flavor). The service was very friendly and helpful! Food came out fast, hot and fresh! They were not greasy like we worried they might be. This is located inside Armature Works with such a fun environment. We took our food outside and ate in the beautiful courtyard that overlooked the river while watching the gorgeous sunset! read more

I didn't expect we got that much of food! Hahaha but oh well! Our MOST favorite were fresh prince and mother clucker empanadas!! They are so flavorful!!!! Def enough for 2 people especially you want to order other food from other place. I think you can skip the chicken tenders with bang bang sauce. It's nothing special and it's too salty in my opinion. read more

Received love from the young ladies at Empamamas as they patiently explained the different flavors of empanadas and gave us recommendations. Empamamas was delicious. I was traveling in Tampa visiting family and we went to the Empamamas at Armature Works. I got the Fresh Prince. I was shocked that the empanadas were $7.49 each. It was larger than I expected which was great. It was comforting, had a delicious meaty, cheesy filling and I still think about it today... If you don't like salt, you wouldn't like this as the cheese adds a nice amount of salt but it works. The only reason I give this 4 stars is because the cost is just a tiny bit more than I'd hope for but it was really good. The service was great! The setup is like a large food court and there's outdoor seating as well. read more

Still some of the best empanadas I've had. Big fan over the years of the cheeseburger and tampa girl. Had the fresh prince for the first time and it was great too. I do think the price per empanada is a bit steep, but I never complain because they're packed tightly with filling. These aren't those cheap, airy, empanadas that are just crust with a little meat. Personally the cheeseburger is still my favorite, and the Tampa girl is still in second place and I don't even like pickles. This place is an armature works staple and I hope they don't go anywhere. read more

Get the Mother Clucker! Honestly, I was looking for more traditional empanadas, but needed a snack before I went paddle boarding in the river. I figured that empanadas would be one of the easiest things. Again, I'm usually looking for traditional flavors without a modern twist, but oh my goodness! The Mother Clucker was SO GOOD. I almost went back for a second, but didn't want to be too full before my paddle. Bursting with flavor. Perfect temperature. And only about a five minute wait. Totally worth it! 2025: 37/100 read more

This empanada was delicious! It was super flavorful and had the right balance of cheese, beef and veggies! I couldn't decide on the choices because they all sound good but I am glad I went with this one. It did not disappoint! It came out immediately and it was nice and pipping hot! The service was also on point! The girl who took my order was super friendly and the bearded chef was awesome as well! Super nice folks ! I can't wait to come back and try a different flavor empanada! Such a dope experience. read more

I don't know who told me but whoever you are, thank you! I was told (ordered?) to head to Empamamas for their Cheeseburger in Paradise empanada and so here I am at Heights Public Market where I ordered it. A few minutes later, the beeper beeped and I'm bringing a tray to a table.Super hot inside this "hot pocket" that's full of ground beef and onion and tomato and cheese. It's very much a cheeseburger and it was super delicious! Don't miss out on these tasty treats! [Review 330 of 2025 - 1985 in Florida - 23892 overall] read more

DE-LICIOUS! Man! I'm so glad I saved some belly room for these babies. They also have some really cute merch and seem to have a big following. The staff here was so fun and helpful. We asked a bunch of questions about which empanada to try and they were super helpful. I ordered 2 and the burger one was my faaaaaaaav. Sooooo good! They said it was a fan favorite and I see why. Fall is here and that means Empamamas has their Apple cider slush. All that fall crisp apple flavor but iced because it's still 80 degrees out. The cheeseburger fries remain a staple for me, this is what I'm most likely to get if I come to Armature. The portion is big enough to split and the flavor is excellent. I really like the tangy mustard. read more

Empamamas - Empanadas Near Me - Tampa, Florida

We tried the 4 pack sampler of empanadas and a side of the seasoned fries. The fries are decent. They are seasoned. It's pretty light, and they just feel like they need something more. As for the empanadas, what I thought I'd like was actually the opposite. My least favorite was the Tampa Girl. I'm not sure why but the outer edges were pretty bland. I think the sauce might really make this one, so I enjoyed it much more near the center but that leaves so many bites that tasted pretty sub-par. Cheeseburger in Paradise sounds good, but something about eating all the components of a cheeseburger in an empanada just didn't work for me. Nothing was "bad". I just didn't love the combination. The Mother Clucker was far tastier than I expected. I just for whatever reason can't handle any heat anymore postpartum, so the jalapeños just made it to something I wouldn't order again. The overall flavor was really good though! But I didn't expect to love the fresh prince as much as I did. It sounded like a twist on the cheeseburger, but in my head sounded less appealing. I was so wrong. This one was absolutely excellent. I can't even describe it anymore, because it's the only one that was finished immediately and I can't go back for another bite. Pretty good once you know what you like there, but in the future, I'll be picking my favorite flavors and forgoing the fries. read more

Empamamas is super convenient if you're visiting Armature Works, and the quick service makes it great for grabbing a bite without a long wait. It's a little on the pricier side, but the flavors are really well-balanced, so it feels worth it. The ambiance adds to the experience--being right along the Tampa Riverwalk is such a nice touch. I also loved the presentation; they stamp the name of each empanada onto the dough, so you always know which one you're about to bite into. read more

First to review and still coming back 8 years later!! It's amazing to see if you have a good concept it can turn into a legit business if you do things the right way. Empamamas is STILL doing it right. Quality ingredients = yummy food. The Tampa girl is still as good as it was back then. I've moved on to the other side of the country but whenever I'm in town you can bet that I'm stopping by here. I'd recommend the Bang Bang tenders and Tampa Girl empanada of course. Had Empamamas for the first time while visiting Florida this week and was absolutely impressed! They have a few things on their menu (tacos, chips & salsa), but I wanted to try what they were most known for. I was BLOWN AWAY by how flavourful and tasty these empanadas were. The crust was flakey and was cooked to perfection. The fries were also very good and were a flavourful side-pairing with the empanadas. The service was quick and the one who took our order was very friendly and personable. They took the time to go over the most popular flavours and recommended the best dipping sauces to go with our meal. Would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone visiting the Tampa area! Okay, I got the bang bang tacos and while a bit expensive for 2 small tacos, they were really good!! I think I will get the bang bang chicken next time -- seems like everyone was ordering those. I love the ambiance here. I love armature works and the unique menu items in regard to empanadas. But I was so shocked that the empanadas were $7 each for them to lack a bit of flavor and be greasy. This spot is tucked inside Armature Works, which, if you've never been, is an awesome food hall with a mix of indoor and outdoor seating. We placed our order, and I kid you not--by the time we got the receipt, the food was already out. Talk about fast service! The empanadas arrived piping hot, and I *highly* recommend the Fresh Prince. It's packed with beef, cheese, peppers, and the absolute star of the show--the garlic aioli. Seriously, that sauce could make anything taste amazing. We brought our dog along, grabbed a seat to watch the sunset, and took in the local vibe. There was a run club meeting, people walking their dogs, and families hanging out with their kids. I've tried many, many empanadas in the Tampa Bay area and Empamamas has the best, hands-down. They are PACKED with flavor, they definitely do not skimp on the filling. I usually order the trio and I get the Tampa Girl, the Cheeseburger in Paradise, and the Fresh Prince. The Tampa Girl is their signature empanada and consists of Cuban sandwich ingredients - absolutely delicious and my all time favorite. The Cheeseburger in Paradise is exactly as it sounds - cheeseburger ingredients in empanada form - it's better than a cheeseburger, in my opinion. It's juicy and flavorful and I'd choose this over a burger any day. My second favorite, and also a newer addition to their menu, the Fresh Prince - this is a philly cheesesteak in an empanada and I love the flavor of the onion and peppers, it's spot on. Any time I'm craving empanadas I come here, because I just haven't had any that compare. Empamamas is located inside of Armature Works - this place is usually very busy, it's a popular spot, so seating isn't always the easiest to find - we usually order to-go and then decide where we're going to sit and eat from there. The location is great for a day out and about, sight seeing, and it's right on the Riverwalk, which makes for great views in downtown Tampa. The service is always fantastic - the staff has always been very friendly and helpful, no matter how busy they are. read more

Empamamas should make a stand alone fried chicken shop cuz that bang bang chicken is BANGIN!! This is one of the best chicken tenders I've had because of the delicious sauce. It was like a mixture of buffalo sauce and mustard or something like that. It was hard for me to tell, but it was delicious. The chicken tenders were humongous and generously bathe in the, delicious sauce. For the price point it was phenomenal as it can go over 20 bucks at other places. There was also a generous portion of french fries. I would definitely recommend the spot for the chicken tenders. I can't say much about the empanadas since I didn't get them, but from looking around, they look delicious and humongous with unique flavors. I will definitely be back. read more
