Probably the best Elotes, I've tried in the Tampa Area. The first bite of the elotes knocked my socks off. It was seasoned so well, I tasted all the flavors and it wasn't too spicy. Los Chapos has some quality tacos. My cousins were raving about this place and say this is their go to spot. I went to the food truck location and it got crowded later in the evening. There was a porta potty and an outdoor washing station. They have picnic style table seating with some umbrellas for shade. We ordered everything from the Birria, carnitas, Al pastor tacos and trio dip. The meats were seasoned well and not dry. Prices were reasonable and each taco was stuffed with plenty of meat. Te Taco de Chincharrones is no longer served with their juicy sauce provided over the tacos, so ours were dry, and I dug through mine as it was almost inevitable. This place is a food truck with an attached outdoor dining area, both shaded and unshaded and a large parking area. The seating area was nice, nothing to complain about. The truck was run by ethnic staff which spoke to some level of authenticity. We got tacos, a Mexican bowl and a mango agua fresca. We got a taco with shrimp (Gubernador) and one al pastor. The al pastor taco was alright, a little dry. The shrimp taco was better, especially when dipped into the provided cheese sauce. The Mexican bowl was alright. I liked that the carne asada was cut into smaller pieces and was soft. But there wasn't much flavor in the meat itself. Also on the menu, it states that it's $13.99 with +$2 for shrimp which led me to assume that all other proteins were the base price of $13.99. However, they charged an extra dollar for carne asada. It also was advertised to come with a whole slew of toppings but when I got it, it had maybe four tiny pieces of lettuce, so small as to be mistaken with minced cilantro and it had none of the pico de gallo or plantains it was said to be included. The bowl wasn't bad per se, good portion of meat and the corn tasted fresh. However, at those prices, I'd rather go to Chipotle. I know it can be harder for independent businesses to have competitive prices but the fact that this was a food truck vs a stone and mortar establishment equals that out in my opinion. It came with two salsas, both very spicy in my opinion, they hurted me a bit. The agua fresca was good, tasted like mango nectar. Overall, alright tasting Mexican food but the prices are not very attractive, especially for a food truck. read more

Los Chapos Tacos is a nostalgic place for me. 2 years ago when we were visiting the Tampa Bay Area it was one of the places we tried as "tourists" and LOVED. Back then they were in a food truck and now they've got their own restaurant offering indoor and outdoor seating in the same location. Both options offer a different experience. It's nice and cool inside and warm and casual on the outside. I love the chicken tinga tacos and recently found out that the side of guacamole added on to the taco just elevated it a bit more so feel free to try that if you're into that sort of thing. I didn't love this place and I was so excited to try a new taco spot in Tampa. Although the restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area and the inside is nicely decorated I didn't love the tacos. They were pretty dry and plain to me. The sauces on the side were really spicy but they didn't give me any limes for my tacos. (I could've probably asked for some but it was fine). I will say they do put A LOT of meat into the tacos so they're very filling. I ordered two carne asada tacos and one of the chicken tacos but I think I would've been fine with just two tacos.
