Los Chapos Tacos serves up the best Mexican street tacos I've ever had, no exaggeration. Everything is packed with flavor, super fresh, and made with love. The Gobernador shrimp tacos are next-level delicious. It is perfectly cooked shrimp, melty cheese, and just the right kick. I could eat them every day and never get tired of them! If you're craving real-deal street tacos, this is the spot. Absolutely worth the visit!
Probably the best Elotes, I've tried in the Tampa Area. The first bite of the elotes knocked my socks off. It was seasoned so well, I tasted all the flavors and it wasn't too spicy. I ordered other items for me and my family and everything was a hit! The flan was much smaller than I imagined and different than what I'm used to but it did its job I suppose. Overall we would definitely buy from here again. We did not dine in so I can't speak on the ambiance of the place but I did call and speak with someone and the service was pretty good from my experience.
Stopped by Los Chapos Taco and loved it! Parking is fairly limited, so you may have to find street parking. There's a cute outdoor patio by the front entrance and a counter where you order. The menu is à la carte and the prices are very reasonable. After ordering, I grabbed a number and waited for the food. I ordered the carne asada, tinga de pollo, and camarones tacos. Each one was packed with flavor -- the meats were well-seasoned and juicy, the tortillas tasted fresh and the salsa had the perfect kick! The portion sizes are generous, and everything felt made-to-order. Service was friendly when they brought out the food and they happily grabbed extra sauces for me. I can definitely see this being a go-to spot before a night out or for takeout when you're craving authentic Mexican flavors. I'll absolutely be back to try more of the menu and bring friends with me!

It smelled a little moldy inside the restaurant or like trapped water. The staff was helpful but straightforward. The food was decent and nothing out of the extraordinary. Not a bad spot but maybe wouldn't come again.
So went to Tampa for a event, and me and my son wanted tacos so we went to a place first that systems were down, so we had to find another spot and so glad this happen, so we found los chapos. Food was amazing for lunch my son got the chicken tacos and I got the shrimp tacos and queso and chips so good, so after are event we needed dinner so we went back to los chapos and once again so good. This time I got the birria tacos amazing and the street corn very good, my son got the same thing he had for lunch. So glad we found this spot, we definitely have a gem when we go to Tampa.
I drive past this taco spot all the time but haven't made it in yet. Today I decided to come in and I am so happy I did. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The inside you order on a kiosk and they bring your food to you. I wanted the birria but then I saw the shrimp tacos they had that were like a shrimp version of birria with the queso dipping sauce. I ordered two of those and then the chicken. The tacos are very filling. I was full after these three and I am someone who can eat a lot of food! To drink I got the hibiscus aqua Fresca and they give you a nice sized portion. Overall this is a great vibe to come chill and eat some delicious Mexican food.

There was a porta potty and an outdoor washing station. They have picnic style table seating with some umbrellas for shade. We ordered everything from the Birria, carnitas, Al pastor tacos and trio dip. The meats were seasoned well and not dry. Prices were reasonable and each taco was stuffed with plenty of meat. I would definitely come back to try their speciality items and tacos.

Stopped in for Taco Tuesday and it was totally worth it. Purchased three CAMARONES grilled shrimp, mozzarella, chipotle cream, pico de gallo, sliced avocado tacos. Very fresh ingredients used in the food at Los Chapos. Also grabbed a TINGA DE POLLO QUESADILLA which was very tasty. The quesadilla chicken was very juicy and flavorful. The customer service is very good, you will be greeted with smiling faces ready to serve you. I love the ambiance of Los chapos, at times they also have a food truck outside for orders. Los Chapos Tacos is my go to spot for Taco Tuesday.
Sadly, I have to re-review and give Los Chapos a lower star. We always get the same thing when we go in as the first time was so great but this time we couldn't find it... when askingbthey said they upgraded it to a special with a flour tortilla. At first, flour sounds awesome. We actually hate corn. We noticed the price was about a dollar higher than before... whoever we love the tacos. We'll that was until they came out. Te Taco de Chincharrones is no longer served with their juicy sauce provided over the tacos, so ours were dry, and I dug through mine as it was almost inevitable. Honestly, if this is their new standard, we won't be back. The sauce was all we talked about... so to remove that and jump the price by a dollar each taco. Not worth it.

So delicious and fresh. A friend told us about this place and we are so glad we finally got to try it. There's not that many places to visit in Ybor for good casual food so we're happy knowing Los Chapos is here! Warming, it's a bit of a walk in the heat if parked by the Blind Tiger lol. read more
This is a hidden gem close to Ybor city. They have seating inside and out. You order at the counter then they let you know when it's ready. The food is amazing. They give you great sauce to add . My tacos were delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. They do Mexican food right. read more

Amazing tacos! Definitely best I have tried in Tampa Bay Area, very authentic! I am not a fun of the location but they made a place so nice with plenty of indoor and outdoor tables, and service is super quick. It is not a fancy place, but it is very clean and pleasant. We had chicken, shrimp and mushroom tacos and all were amazing. We also got three dips that were great as well. Definitely recommend! read more

I came here late and it was an interesting parking situation. It's very limited so you may have to park further depending how busy it is. I got the chicken bowl and it was very filling. Although disappointed that my food took a while to come out and they forgot my to go flan. I had to remind them about. The trio dip was good with the queso, guacomole, and salsa. The price is fair but disappointing with service. As far as seating there's indoor and outdoor seating. read more

We had drinks and tacos. Birrias and Jamaican sangria--which was delicious. And can I give a shout out to the bartender--her presentation of the drinks was on point! It's Feb, so of course is a must! Will be back! Love the music and outdoor space. In honor of what is happening today with our country and mi raza--I refuse to eat tacos if it's not Latinos cooking in the back! read more

The decor and ambience in here is amazing. I love sitting inside if you like I'm in Tulum lol the service is pretty good and quick for the most part. They also offer cocktails. Every taco I've had here so far is really juicy. I always ask for extra limes and pico on the side just to make them really really fat lol. Every table has a red sauce and a green sauce so you can add as much as you like. I love that read more

Oh man! I stepped into this one. So I used Yelp to find the perfect Mexican restaurant nestled in the downtown Tampa area. Oh boy, I had a dish called Birria. Never had it before but damn! And I mean damn! Just packed with flavor that left my groins quivering. Ok! Maybe that's exaggerating but I highly recommend the Birria and the Guacamole with chicharrones is to absolutely die for. The staff are so cool and just awesome... The ambiance is casual with outdoor dining. Just a great place to enjoy an evening with good friends and Margaritas.... Yes Margaritas! Of course I had a pineapple drink. Remember to support your local grubberies so we both don't starve... read more

Highly recommend to anyone who is craving Mexican food in the downtown Tampa Bay Area; the shrimp taco and churro were my favorites; the only two things that were slightly sub par were the hibiscus margarita and the pork taco. Staff was very friendly. Will definitely come again. read more
This place is a food truck with an attached outdoor dining area, both shaded and unshaded and a large parking area. The seating area was nice, nothing to complain about. The truck was run by ethnic staff which spoke to some level of authenticity. We got tacos, a Mexican bowl and a mango agua fresca. We got a taco with shrimp (Gubernador) and one al pastor. The al pastor taco was alright, a little dry. The shrimp taco was better, especially when dipped into the provided cheese sauce. The Mexican bowl was alright. I liked that the carne asada was cut into smaller pieces and was soft. But there wasn't much flavor in the meat itself. Also on the menu, it states that it's $13.99 with +$2 for shrimp which led me to assume that all other proteins were the base price of $13.99. However, they charged an extra dollar for carne asada. It also was advertised to come with a whole slew of toppings but when I got it, it had maybe four tiny pieces of lettuce, so small as to be mistaken with minced cilantro and it had none of the pico de gallo or plantains it was said to be included. The bowl wasn't bad per se, good portion of meat and the corn tasted fresh. However, at those prices, I'd rather go to Chipotle. I know it can be harder for independent businesses to have competitive prices but the fact that this was a food truck vs a stone and mortar establishment equals that out in my opinion. It came with two salsas, both very spicy in my opinion, they hurted me a bit. The agua fresca was good, tasted like mango nectar. Overall, alright tasting Mexican food but the prices are not very attractive, especially for a food truck. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for about 5 years. Finally got the opportunity. Glad I did so I can check it off my list. The menu selection is pretty awesome. And I am sure there is something for everyone. My sister for Nachos and the Birria Tacos. She was not impressed at all. Said there was way too much cheese on the tacos which took away the taste of the meat. The meat was lacking seasoning as well as the consome. No onion flavor at all. I had a burrito bowl with Asada. I was disappointed in the way the steak was prepared. Not much flavor either. I think maybe next time I will try the chicken. See how that goes. read more
Los Chapos Tacos is a nostalgic place for me. 2 years ago when we were visiting the Tampa Bay Area it was one of the places we tried as "tourists" and LOVED. Back then they were in a food truck and now they've got their own restaurant offering indoor and outdoor seating in the same location. Both options offer a different experience. It's nice and cool inside and warm and casual on the outside. I love the chicken tinga tacos and recently found out that the side of guacamole added on to the taco just elevated it a bit more so feel free to try that if you're into that sort of thing. The wait in line to order was a bit long but the food came out quicker than I thought so that certainly made up for it. read more
